If you ever get into this situation, you can either get a ghast to shoot a fireball at the portal frame, or kill a ghast for gunpowder, a wither skeleton for coal and a blaze for blaze power and craft fire charges to re-light the portal
Or find flint and steel or firecharge in ruined portal. Or just flint in ruined portal and iron from fortress/bastion. Anyway I agree with your point that this situation is far from hopeless.

When I was way younger, I completely lost my original Nether Portal and spent days searching the Nether for flint & steel and enough obsidian to build a new one. Still one of my all-time favorite memories with that game.
This! This is why I can't stand KeepInventory. I've had people bitch at me for keeping it off, and I find the whole "play how you want to play" discourse tiring when it's so onesided. I maintain that you lose out on so much of the creative part of the _survival_ gameplay Minecraft when you leave it on. Case in point: I had a similar experience in a dripstone cave once. I got turned around and could not find my way out. I was low on food. I didn't want to die down there, because I had just found diamonds (a rarity for me back in those days). I _could_ have stored the diamonds in a chest and then let myself starve, but I was worried about never finding my way back to it. So I made a commitment to see the ordeal through. It challenged me to use every possible method I knew to scrounge food. I had to slowly map out the territory using torches. I had to be extremely careful with engaging mobs. I remember spending several days down there by the campfire, hoping I'd see daylight again. After about a week, I found my way out. I kid you not: On the wall near the ravine that I emerged from, there was a formation of stone in the shape of the crucifix. I'm not a religious man, but that was pretty awesome!
Gravel exists in the Nether, and Piglins can trade you iron in addition to iron being semi-common in Fortresses. Also, Gunpowder, Blaze Powder, and Coal are the ingredients for a fire charge, all of which can be dropped from certain Nether mobs.

Notch actually specifically designed the fire charges crafting to be exclusively from the Nether because of this, he wanted for there to be a way to relight the portal.
nuh-uh, wither skeleton for coal, ghast for gunpowder, blaze for blaze powder and e wala you get fire charges. or, alternatively, it's obvious this is 1.16+ judging by the basalt deltas, striders, and the nether wart blocks at 0:04, so you can find a bunch of gold in the walls or a bastion, find a piglin, trade with the piglin for iron nuggets (guaranteed to get at least 10 judging by the wiki's table), then go get gravel or trade with the piglin for it, e wala flint and steel.
I remember I was playing a minecraft game, alone, with myself, I entered the portal, ghast blew up the portal, killed it, but than realised I got no flint and steel, so it was during this time, I went on a whole ass quest to find flint and steel through bastons, nether fortresses, and just any buildings that could have the stuff I can use, it was insane, like a whole ass lore. Chapter 1: Into the Abyss First and foremost, let's introduce our intrepid protagonist. Picture a lone figure, a wanderer of the virtual realm, standing on the precipice of a vast, dark abyss known as the Nether. The crimson-hued sky stretched endlessly above him, and the eerie glow of lava lakes reflected in his anxious eyes. The protagonist had ventured into this foreboding realm, seeking treasures and rare resources. But fate had other plans. As he took his first cautious steps into the Nether's unforgiving terrain, a sudden, spine-chilling sound filled the air - the eerie, haunting cry of a Ghast. Our protagonist, oblivious to the imminent danger, was struck by the beast's destructive fireball. The force of the impact sent him sprawling, and for a moment, the Nether's infernal landscape blurred into a painful haze. Chapter 2: Shattered Gateway When our hero regained his senses, he turned to find his only lifeline - the portal that had brought him to this treacherous place. To his dismay, it lay in ruins, a shattered gateway to the world he desperately needed to return to. Panic welled up within him as he realized he was trapped, cut off from the safety of the Overworld. Fumbling through his inventory, his heart sank as he made a grim discovery - he was bereft of flint and steel, the essential tools for rekindling a portal. Desperation set in, but our protagonist was not one to be easily defeated. Chapter 3: The Diamond Pickaxe's Sacrifice With unwavering determination, he drew out his prized possession - a gleaming diamond pickaxe. It had been his trusty companion through countless adventures, and now it would serve a new, sacrificial purpose. Sweat beaded on his forehead as he struck the obsidian frame of the portal. It shattered into shards, and he collected them meticulously. The weight of the obsidian in his inventory felt like the burden of his predicament. But he had a plan, one that required him to embark on a journey of epic proportions, one that would take him to the farthest corners of the Nether. Chapter 4: The Odyssey of Blocks Time became a blur as our wanderer embarked on his odyssey. He traversed the Nether's surreal landscapes, with towering basalt cliffs and seas of lava that seemed to stretch on forever. Block by block, he bridged chasms, navigated treacherous terrain, and faced the relentless onslaught of hostile mobs. Days turned into weeks, which turned into months. The harsh environment of the Nether tested not only his physical stamina but also his mental fortitude. He clung to the hope that somewhere, in some forsaken fortress or desolate bastion, he would find what he needed to escape this fiery prison. Chapter 5: The Flicker of Hope Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he stumbled upon it - a glimmer of hope amidst the desolation. Hidden within the bowels of a crumbling bastion, he uncovered the coveted flint and steel. It was a moment of triumph and relief that washed over him, erasing the scars of his arduous journey. Chapter 6: A Portal to Redemption With the flint and steel in his trembling hand, our protagonist made his way to a secluded spot, a sanctuary in the Nether's chaos. He meticulously reconstructed the portal frame, each obsidian block a testament to his unyielding determination. As he struck the flint and steel, a spark ignited, and the portal roared to life. It was a mesmerizing sight, a swirling vortex of colors that promised salvation. Yet, as he glanced back at the scorched ground bearing the imprints of his struggle, he couldn't help but feel a pang of nostalgia and gratitude for the journey that had led him here. Chapter 7: A World Unknown As he stepped through the portal, the world around him transformed once more. He found himself in the Overworld, but this was not the familiar landscape he had called home. It was a realm unknown to him, with towering mountains, lush forests, and strange creatures he had never encountered before. In his initial excitement at escaping the Nether, he had overlooked a critical detail. When he had started his journey, he had carefully recorded his coordinates. With a heavy heart, he retrieved this vital information, only to realize that he was hundreds of thousands of blocks away from his original spawn point. Chapter 8: The Unavoidable Return Journey Dread settled in as he understood the gravity of his situation. Another journey, as epic and perilous as the one he had just undertaken, loomed on the horizon. He was a wanderer in a foreign land, a castaway in a realm uncharted. But our protagonist was not one to be daunted by challenges. With his trusty diamond pickaxe, flint and steel in hand, and the indomitable spirit that had carried him through the Nether, he set forth on his next odyssey - the journey back to the place he had once called home. And so, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the unfamiliar terrain, our wanderer took his first determined steps towards a new adventure, bound for the unknown, driven by an unyielding spirit, and destined to face whatever trials awaited him on the road back to his world. and yes the story was AI generated, by chatgpt of course, but I thought it was funny, but if you want to see my sad pathetic excuse of a prompt I gave it to write off of and what I was originally gonna commet, here it is. "First of all, our wondering protagonist finds himself within the vast deep depths within the nether, and then, surpise, a ghast shows up, at first he takes a blow, he doesn't realises the portal has been knocked off, as soon as he is finished taking down the ghast, he turns to the portal, he finds that the portal has been destroyed, so the wanderer looks through his inventory, when he realises that he has no flint and steel, so our protagonist, gets his diamond pick axe, and breaks the portal, and takes the obsidian, and goes on a full journey, traveling hundreds, of thousands, of blocks, to find buildings that may or may not have flint and steel, a time skip, after traveling hundreds of thousands of blocks he has finally found a flint and steel, it had been days, weeks, months, when he has been abandoned in the nether, and as our protagonist is eager to light the portal, he finds a safe spot, to light it, when he finds a safe spot to light it up, he builds the portal frame, and he is eager to light up the portal, as he looks behind him, he finds his footprints, on the burnt texture of the nether floors, remembering the journey, he has made, to come up to this point, and as he breaths in, he lights up the portal, and finally, after all this time, he walks inside the portal, and as he spawns in the overworld, he looks around him, his surroundings are unfamiliar, now, when he started his world, he found a spot and built his base, and saved his coordinates, after taking a look at his surroundings, he looks at his coordinates, and realises, he is hundreds of thousands of blocks away from spawn, and realizes that another journey home, is going to inevitable."
With all the suggestions I've seen here, this is the only one who's mentioned the age-old Ghast Fireball, the very thing that took the portal. I myself have used that trick at least once when my portal got broken. You just need to bait the fireball or punch it in to the portal. It will likely light the inside of the frame on fire, and then you're free to go!
This exact thing happened to me once, so I quickly crouched behind the base block of the portal and sure enough, the next fireball from the Ghast reignited the portal and I escaped. It’s still one of the most rewarding memories I have playing Minecraft. 13 year old me felt so cool.
inventory saving is enabled: Sing with me, sing for a year Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear Sing with me, if it's just for today Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
The only time you're trapped in the nether is if you forget your portal cords. There's plenty of ways to relight a portal. Tbh, there's even ways to build a new one.
I haven't played Minecraft in over 6 years but I distinctly remember a tip in my old combat handbook: get a ghast to shoot the portal and it will relight.
There is a simple solution to this. There is tons of gravel in the nether so flint is easy to come by, and piglins can give you iron nuggets if you trade with them. You can also make a crating table thanks to warped and crimson planks so you can turn the iron nuggets into iron ingots to turn into flint in steel. Interestingly, they can also give you obsidian, so even if you get lost and lose your nether portal you can make a new one which is something I had to do once. (just realized they also trade fire charges too, So you can get both flint and steal and fire charges pretty easily.)
I had that situation once, kinda. Was searching for a fortress and had to go super far away from spawn. Once I had the stuff I wanted I notices I had only a few porkchop left. We play on hard difficulty so I would starve to death if I didn't get anything to eat. I got enough obsidian for a portal from breaking my ender chest + a few in my inventory. Then I placed it near a blaze spawner and waited for them to shoot it. After enough tries and with only 1 piece of meat left I made it out of the nether.
Fun fact: nowadays, it's possible to flee the nether, with naturally spawning gravel (for flint) and bastions tend to have iron ( i think ) Btw if i see 1 nerd emoji i'll spontanially combust into flames
I was in a woodland mansion with a friend once. This mansion was thousands of blacks away and there was a ruined portal in it. My friend accidentally broke some netherack and set the mansion on fire. We quickly jumped in the portal to escape and a ghost broke it. We had to travel back to home through the nether. We had to find our portal and go back that way
Napoleon never actually said on record ‘there is nothing we can do’ however he compared himself to a god when he said “To do all that one is able to do, is to be a man; to do all that one would like to do, is to be a god.”
Use your pickaxe to mine some nether gold, if you don't have a pickaxe. You can make stone tools with basalt, turn the gold nuggets into gold ingots. Do some piglin bartering for some iron nuggets (or a fire charge), make an iron ingot, find some gravel and get flint. Craft a flint and steel, and relight the portal.
Just get coal and blaze powder from the fortress and a gunpowder from ghast and make a fire charge and use it on a nether portal to activate it. Easy, no flint and steel. Or Get iron nuggets from pigling and take flint by mining gravel.
one time i got lost in the nether and could not find the portal back home, and i was in the nether for like 4 hours getting gold and trading with piglins to get enough obsidian to make a new portal home. moral of the story: know where the portal is, and make sure you have tools.
This is not really a problem, it has 5 (and maybe more) possible solutions requiring no or basic equipment: - Easiest solution would be to lure the ghast that destroyed the portal in the first place to fire again at the frame to rekindle it. Also works with blazes. - A fire charge is craftable from drops and loot in the nether (blaze for its powder, ghast for gunpowder, and wither skeleton for coal) - If fire tick is left at its default 'on', you can place something that can spread fire like a crafting table in front of the portal, pour lava next to it, and it should light up anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. - You can easily find flint and steel in a nether fortress - You can barter gold for a fire charge with piglins, or you can barter ingredients for flint and steel (iron nuggets to make an iron ingot, and gravel for flint)
As a Bonapartist I am deeply satisfied with the coming of the emperor into meme culture to teach the new generations about the value of a great man who can stand above bureaucracy and corruption, and at the same time promote Roman-Church values and organization.
If you find yourself in this situation, there is a number of things you can do to get out. 1. if you have any wood from the overworld. you can place it in such that the fire from the blast can ignite the portal. 2. if you dont have any wood on you. go find a crimson forrest, cut down a tree and make a craftingtable. go mine some gold and make some golden ingots. then you can make some golden boots so piglins don't attack you. make some more ingots and trade with some piglins until you have enough iron nuggets to make a iron ingot. then you can go mine after gravel until you get flint, go make flint and steel and ignite your portal. 3. worst case senario. if nothing is posible you can find a crimson forrest and make a chest, and put all your items in that. go and jump into lava. then you respawn at your spawnpoint. go into the nether again and find you chest where all your items is.
Find a fortress, store literally everything in it's chest, kel urself. This will make you respawn, after respawning, build the portal once again and go back and continue your journies. 🎉.
How to leave nether easy! Get gold, trade with piglins then you get a chance to have obsidian, build and the if you have wood place close in lava pool and the nether portal then you can leave or if you don't have wood get a loot from fortress or something structure you have a chance to get flint and steel then you light it and leave
Fire charge was specifically added to the game for this exact situation, made from coal, gunpowder, and blaze powder, all obtainable in the nether, and without needing a crafting table too, since wood was unobtainable at the time in the nether.
Chop a tree, make a crafting table. Mine some gold ore, trade with piglins, get iron nuggets until you have enough for an ingot, then use gravel from the nether beaches to get flint
you can loot iron from bastion, fortress and find flint from gravel, and then make a flint and steel. after come back to overworld, always have one in your inventory
Solution 1: get the ghast to relit the portal Solution 2: find gravel to get flint, find iron ingot in a fortress, make flint and steel Solution 3: find gold, barter with a piglin for a fire charge Solution 4: get coal from wither skeletons, get gunpowder from a ghast, get blaze powder, make a fire charge yourself
You can do a few things, mark your portal, go find gravel and iron from a structure, look for a flint and steal in a structure, use wood to make a trail from the lava to light the portal, or have a ghast shoot it
Fun fact: you actualy can get out of the nether withour flint'n steel in hardcore, you gota make a fire charge with flint (there is around) blase poweder and gun powder (ghast drop em)
I can understand in old Minecraft your only option was to prey for a flint and steal in a fortress chest or drop all your stuff and go swim in lava but there are options to escape now lol. The nether has gravel for flint and trees for a crafting table and gold nuggets to craft gold bars and trade with a piglin until you get an iron bar.

This exact thing happened to me once, so I quickly crouched behind the base block of the portal and sure enough, the next fireball from the Ghast reignited the portal and I escaped. It’s still one of the most rewarding memories I have playing Minecraft. 13 year old me felt so cool.
Bro respawned on Saint Helena
First I saw a video where George Washington duel weilded chainsaws, now this video when Napoleon got lost in the nether. I just love the internet.
inventory saving is enabled:
Sing with me, sing for a year
Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear
Sing with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away
Could you imagine if minecraft respawned you at a random point in the world when you died. That would actually be quite fun
Minecraft spawning you at St Helena
“Bro where tf am I” I cried, that was such a deep and emotional line 😢
The only time you're trapped in the nether is if you forget your portal cords.
There's plenty of ways to relight a portal. Tbh, there's even ways to build a new one.
"Ill just respawn" he said knowing dam well that it was a hardcore world
From bad to worse, very realistic
Advanced trick that you could theoretically pull off:
Find gravel for flint
Find iron from a fortress or bastion

2023: this video
Nether? Literally Russia in the summer!
The video description was very helpful🙏
i do my best! thanks
POV you forgot that piglins can trade fire charges for gold.
Always a joy to watch your videos.
♥♥♥
I had that situation once, kinda. Was searching for a fortress and had to go super far away from spawn. Once I had the stuff I wanted I notices I had only a few porkchop left. We play on hard difficulty so I would starve to death if I didn't get anything to eat. I got enough obsidian for a portal from breaking my ender chest + a few in my inventory. Then I placed it near a blaze spawner and waited for them to shoot it. After enough tries and with only 1 piece of meat left I made it out of the nether.
Cool story, glad you made it
so... so there is something we can do
Fun fact: nowadays, it's possible to flee the nether, with naturally spawning gravel (for flint) and bastions tend to have iron ( i think )
Btw if i see 1 nerd emoji i'll spontanially combust into flames
I was in a woodland mansion with a friend once. This mansion was thousands of blacks away and there was a ruined portal in it. My friend accidentally broke some netherack and set the mansion on fire. We quickly jumped in the portal to escape and a ghost broke it. We had to travel back to home through the nether. We had to find our portal and go back that way
Napoleon never actually said on record ‘there is nothing we can do’ however he compared himself to a god when he said “To do all that one is able to do, is to be a man; to do all that one would like to do, is to be a god.”
I haven't got flint and steel ~Napoleon
It's over ❌
There's nothing we can do ✅
“Bro where tf am i?”
Elba.
Christophe duroc : there actually is a thing we can do.
Just get coal and blaze powder from the fortress and a gunpowder from ghast and make a fire charge and use it on a nether portal to activate it. Easy, no flint and steel.
Or
Get iron nuggets from pigling and take flint by mining gravel.
So many ways out of the never. But he gave up instantly.
one time i got lost in the nether and could not find the portal back home, and i was in the nether for like 4 hours getting gold and trading with piglins to get enough obsidian to make a new portal home.
moral of the story:
know where the portal is, and make sure you have tools.
Ruined portals, piglins, gravel, fortress chests: bruh
one solution is to loot a bastion for a fire charge or find a ruined portal (yes those spawn in the nether) and find your way home
Pinnacle of evolution and masterpiece of the century
This is not really a problem, it has 5 (and maybe more) possible solutions requiring no or basic equipment:
- Easiest solution would be to lure the ghast that destroyed the portal in the first place to fire again at the frame to rekindle it. Also works with blazes.
- A fire charge is craftable from drops and loot in the nether (blaze for its powder, ghast for gunpowder, and wither skeleton for coal)
- If fire tick is left at its default 'on', you can place something that can spread fire like a crafting table in front of the portal, pour lava next to it, and it should light up anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.
- You can easily find flint and steel in a nether fortress
- You can barter gold for a fire charge with piglins, or you can barter ingredients for flint and steel (iron nuggets to make an iron ingot, and gravel for flint)
"there's nothing we can do..."
*Piglins that can trade both gravel (Flint) and iron nuggets (ingots) left the chat*
As a Bonapartist I am deeply satisfied with the coming of the emperor into meme culture to teach the new generations about the value of a great man who can stand above bureaucracy and corruption, and at the same time promote Roman-Church values and organization.
ikr
The french can suck my dick
Bonapartist? Yo same-
Ok you weirdo
@@zacksnyder2561that's not very kind
*I’ve been trapped and banished to the nether on the N00b Adventures server and escaped 15 times.*
I liked my own comment.
i liked your comment
I liked every comment including mine
You fool i liked your comment t- i dont have a punchline
WTF I liked your comment....
There's nothing we can do now...
Chance of escape - Iron can be found in Fortess chest, gravel does spawn in nether.
while in higher difficulties even in hardcore this is fixable
in peaceful, there is nothing we can do
This appears to be filling my recommendations now following the Colors animations so I'm counting these too. This is number 5.
How to leave nether easy! Get gold, trade with piglins then you get a chance to have obsidian, build and the if you have wood place close in lava pool and the nether portal then you can leave or if you don't have wood get a loot from fortress or something structure you have a chance to get flint and steel then you light it and leave
Never go down there without Flint steel and at least enough obsidian to make two portals
The editing is LEGENDARY BRO. This content is so underrated.
Guy: trying die and respawn
Hardcore: I don't think so
when every plan you try to do is useless
Bro always has the best songs and funniest memes
You can find iron in the fortresses and gravel near lava lakes, easy.
Ther is nothing we can do🙇♂️😞
😞😞😞
There's 50 billion ways to handle this other than committing lava bath.
*Piglin: I got the good stuff😏*
I just let the guess hit me again so I could turn on the portal
This is amazing how he can put a lot of things in this video. Idk, but I feel so good with this
You lost all of your pickaxes and everywhere is lava. Average day in the nether
Fire charge was specifically added to the game for this exact situation, made from coal, gunpowder, and blaze powder, all obtainable in the nether, and without needing a crafting table too, since wood was unobtainable at the time in the nether.
This happened to my friend once, but he didn’t even have a portal frame to escape
If you have some iron you can find gravel in the nether and use it to make flint n steel to return
Chop a tree, make a crafting table. Mine some gold ore, trade with piglins, get iron nuggets until you have enough for an ingot, then use gravel from the nether beaches to get flint
Ghast drops gunpowder and there is gravel in the nether! There is something we can do.!!
i just watched myself in the past which was a long time ago
Make sure you always have flint and steel.
0:11 to escape without it, you need to find obsidian from ruined portals or piglin bartering.
If and obsidian block breaks remember that you can trade for it with gold from the piglings
bro's actin like they're trapped in old nether
Imagine not knowing how to get back to the overworld when your nether portal is destroyed
You can find a baston and get iron from there and naturaly generated gravel for flint
This is why you 👏 always 👏 box 👏 your 👏 nether 👏 portal 👏 immediately 👏
First thing I learned about nether travel was how to get a ghast to relight the portal, and then that cobblestone is immune to ghast fireballs
This is why you build a shit house around the portal, put a chest with a flint and steel inside and write down the coords 1st thing after teleporting
“Sir the app is sending us to the App Store what should we do?”
“There’s nothing we can do”
Accurate ending, Napoleon went to hell
Break gravel and get flint, find iron in loot chests, craft them, you’re out of the nether
you can loot iron from bastion, fortress and find flint from gravel, and then make a flint and steel. after come back to overworld, always have one in your inventory
Solution 1: get the ghast to relit the portal
Solution 2: find gravel to get flint, find iron ingot in a fortress, make flint and steel
Solution 3: find gold, barter with a piglin for a fire charge
Solution 4: get coal from wither skeletons, get gunpowder from a ghast, get blaze powder, make a fire charge yourself
fire charge : are u serious my brothah
wood lava trick : are u serious my brothah
This is exactly why I build a cobblestone house around the nether side portal, always priority 1
You can do a few things, mark your portal, go find gravel and iron from a structure, look for a flint and steal in a structure, use wood to make a trail from the lava to light the portal, or have a ghast shoot it
"Were screwed" - The gravel in the background
Fun fact: you actualy can get out of the nether withour flint'n steel in hardcore, you gota make a fire charge with flint (there is around) blase poweder and gun powder (ghast drop em)
you can find abandoned portals in the nether, and they can have flint and steel in the chests next to the portal
