A few years back I was working at the hospital in Ontonagon. It was during the pandemic and travel nursing had become all the rage, (still is due to how much money a nurse can make doing it). Anyway, these nurses started coming through from places way South of here, (Texas, Florida), and they were simply appalled by how remote we were. They would endlessly complain that the closest Wal-Mart or McDonalds was over 60 miles away. So, one day I asked them have you been to the parks? The waterfalls? The Lake? One of them said, "What Lake". I said "Superior". They had no idea that they were sitting a half mile from the largest freshwater lake in the world. I informed them there was just about no other reason to be here.

Can you see aurora very low on the horizon pretty frequently in the Keweenaw that occur about 600 miles away over northern Ontario / southern Hudson Bay? In theory you should be able to see these very bright, fast-moving discrete polar auroral bands that often have pink fringes underneath up to 600 miles away. I think it's possible to see KP2 auroral displays very low on the northern horizon from the Keweenaw but wanted to get your thoughts on this.
