As a homeowner acting as their own contractor, someone who has HVAC training, tools, a degree in electrical engineering, and other skills, I am going to replace our gas/electric package unit, so will pull a Mechanical Permit after I finish learning a variety of building codes, doing a Manual J and S to make a proper selection. The home is in Durham, NC, and has R-4.2 insulated flex ducting, so there is more to do than simply rip out an old unit and replace it with a matching unit. My question is: I have been learning about both your software and testing hardware, and think they are good, but the whole point of doing this myself is to save every penny I can in difficult times. So, do you have a way to sell/rent to poor people such as myself who want to do a good job, but cannot afford to purchase top of the like tools. I have already spent a lot on the Digital manifold with Blue-tooth enabled ancillary gadgets. Looking for information as to the cheapest way I can do the tightness and duct leakage tests, along with an accurate Manual J and S. TIA
you may be better off having someone come do the testing for you, when you compare the pricing to renting equipment. A couple of contractors near you that know their stuff that I know of include Smart Home Comfort and Scientific Comfort Services. Otherwise, reach out to sales@retrotec.com for a quote on a DucTester rental.
