NERD IT UP Hahaha well I'm sort of the opposite, I prefer the elegance and malevolence of Xerneas, and the whole deer design with the huge, colourful antlers hasn't really been done before in a legendary so I was drawn to her (I guess the -ions from Black and White were kinda like deer but they didn't have as great designs). However, Yveltal is freaking cool as shit too, like a bird shaped like a Y. These legendaries are definitely some of the best, and most plausible front cover legendaries that I can remember. I'm getting a new 3DS XL for my b day coming in a few weeks time and I'm getting X again, since I got rid of it and my 3DS before even finishing the game, but I'm compelled to play the games now, and I'll probably get Y version eventually since I might want to do challenge playthroughs and I wanna use X as my main game, and oh jeez I can't wait for sun and moon too! I'm personally team Moon for the evil, moon-shaped bat legendary, but Idk what starter I'm going with still...
Don't get me wrong, I like both Yveltal and Xerneas. But Yveltal definitely has a better cutscene. Xerneas's is all graceful and majestic, and Yveltal...you're just, 'Oh shit.'

This was the first game that showed us that a Pokèmon's cry isn't just the same exact sound over and over, but rather, the sounds we hear in the Pokèdex and in the wild are typical examples of what that Pokèmon sounds like, which is why in certain cutscenes like this, and in Pokèmon amii, we hear different renditions of a Pokèmon's cry. Just a little thing I noticed.
Yeah...Yveltal is much scarier than Xerneas... When Xerneas came out, I questioned whether it'd be aggressive or peaceful... With Yveltal it just looks like it wants to destroy you and everything around it!

Is it me or does Nintendo make it too easy to catch legendaries nowadays ? I remember we need a status like paralyzes and make go to red and even at that it would still take 10-20 ultra balls .-.
As long as legendaries will be integral to the story, they'll make them easy to catch. It started with Hoenn (you could still do whatever you wanted though, you weren't force to catch Kyogre for example) and became a thing with Unova.
This cutscene perfectly shows how some of these games are made around one version and just adapted for the other legendary. This cutscene and story in general fits Yveltal much more then Xerneas.
@Cirrus I'd actually argue that BW is the worst offender of this. If you play White, N, who thinks (ideals) that pokemon are being enslaved by people, gets Reshiram. The truth pokemon. And you, the protagonist who wants to show N the truth and that pokemon with people are very happy and not enslaved, gets Zekrom. The ideals pokemon. Playing both, it's very clear that the Game was made in Black form first. Where player is meant to embody truth and get Reshiram while N uses ideals and Zekrom to enact Ghetsis' will. Then they made White version. Which is just a text swap with ideals and truth from N lol.
If we had Pokémon Z as originally intended(and had the legendaries be available) then we would probably have gotten this cutscene for Yveltal and a separate cutscene for Xernias

Your Friendly Neighborhood Shrek Yeah to catch the legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal in X/Y it was made easy as it's part of the story that you obtain them. If you fail to catch them the battle just starts over until you succeed. As far as I know, these are the only legendaries that were made easy as they were necessary, but I could be wrong.

Caught my Yveltal on the second try (Ultra Ball). Lead up was a fight with Mega Charizard Y, where Fire Fang inflicted a burn that counteracted Oblivion Wing, keeping health in the yellow.
Holly cow. I'd say the cutscene for both signature legendaries are flipping awesome and the battle just nerve wracking. I was trembling from excitement so much I had trouble holding my DS pen! XD

the thing with xerneas and yveltal is that they are must captures to continue the game. if you were to accidentally knock them out they would actually be on the world screen and you have to converse with them and redo the battle until you caught them. so they both have a high catch rate on purpose
Lol nice. I have pokemon X got mewtwo with a great ball I think. got zygarde with a dusk ball, got Xerneas with a great ball and got zoroark with a quick ball (inside the winding woods). And I still have my master ball.. I wanna get that Moltres.
In 2021, I got back into Pokémon, replaying an old copy of White that had been sitting on the shelf for years. I proceeded to play all the games I missed in order. Since I missed the advertising for Pokémon Y, I didn’t know what to expect going into generation 6. Luckily, the console I purchased for White was a true 3DS, so I was able to play with the 3D effect and some high quality headphones. This scene blew my mind. You go straight from the cutscene into the battle. So intense.
I thought Xerneas and Yveltal automatically came with you. I threw a poke ball at Xerneas without weakening it and got instant catch. I got Yveltal to half health and threw a ball and caught it. Might explain where all my game luck went. Haven't got but 4 critical hits since then and I miss a lot with 90 accuracy moves.
Well, Xerneas is super effective against Dark, so naturally, Xerneas would one shot Yveltal. And the stats are pretty similar. So Xerneas could have defeated a Lvl 50 Chestnaught regardless.
Not nessicarilly luck, the catch rates on story important legendaries are really high, I feel sorry that it took your master ball, normally all it takes is 1-3 ultra balls.
I was kinda sad. I threw one quick ball and catched it... I would say I could have been extremely lucky, however it looks like it is easy for everyone to catch. It really makes it less fun, I remember that satisfaction when catching legendarys after using countless ultra balls was the best feeling.
If you used your master ball on Yveltal/Xnerneas, Do not worry, my dear friend! (I did the same thing) If you are planning on capturing the remaining legendaries, They are all in CAVES! so using a dusk ball or timer ball or quick balls (maybe ultra balls) are your best bet. also, paralyze the target, and you will catch it! Just have 20 or so on hand and you will catch your legendary! I lowered mewtwo's health to the red and paralyzed it, and I got it first try with dusk ball! :D (also, Xerneas and Yveltal work extremely good on Mewtwo and Zygarde! HOW CONVENT!)
Ha i caught my yveltal full heath with the first ultra ball then i restarted the game brought it down in yellow and caught it on the first ultra ball once more this guy sucked plus using chesnaught was a very bad idea knowing that yveltal is dark and flying also sending out that bug pkmn was also a bad idea because wat would happen is yveltal would have popped out ur pkmn would have screwed

I may prefer life over destruction, but I gotta tell ya, Yveltal appeals SO much more to me than Xerneas. It's appearance is intimidating enough, the presence and powers it wields are AMAZINGLY dangerous and destructive as it's namesake would imply, and the fight during your conflict with Team Flare is just more fitting with the Pokemon of Destruction than the Pokemon of Life in my opinion. Plus the background looks cooler to me too.
Most dramatic thing happened to me when I met Yveltal... My friend was with me when the battle started but I had to piss. When I come back though I see my friend with my game. He stares into my eyes while he's doing this "rape face" while he's selection the Masterball. It gets caught and that's when I tackle him yelling "TURN IT OFF THATS FOR ZYGARDE" and in the mean time of me kicking his back he had enough time to actually SAVE the GAME!!! So I stabbed him with my stylus... And now wish me luck trying to get Zygarde -_-'
Xerneas and Yveltal are like Zekrom and Reshirma because they are required to advance in the story. That's why there so easy to catch, just look at my video of catching Xerneas and you'll see what I mean
Nowatdays, my Yveltal and I love each other very, very much, but this video reminded me of how thrilled i was the first time we met, i was completely terryfied, and felt hopeless, for some reason i do not know.
Maybe but ... it also has to do with the fact that was my first time fighting against a Legendary Pokémon on a geunine console, and the first time i fought against Yveltalt, AND i always get quite involved into Pokémon stories all along ...
I caught mine last night and it took me five times to capture it. Also I used an Ultra Ball because it will be worth using the Master Ball to capture Mewtwo

Oblivion Wing A Flying type move that visually looks like it should be a Dark type move I feel like it's flying for balance purpose Imagine if it was a Dark move. It gets power boost from Dark Aura
sean desilva yeah i ran into yveltal shortly after i saw this. They've made the legendaries easier to catch. I've played all of the games (still working on White, just got it) and this is the easiest batch of legendaries ever.
Jarrod Kersey ORRRRRRR its because they increased the catch rate for the main story legendary's in B/W and X/Y. Making them super easy to catch as well as a good way to wast your master ball on if you use yours. :P (I use a Premier Ball on Xerneas and a Poke Ball on Yveltal)

Well, only one of the few. In Black n White, we did hear Reshiram n Zekrom make various growls that didn't match directly to their normal cry

I think the energy from the legendary was what was required in general to fire the weapon, but I agree and could be wrong

This is nothing. It took me 30 Ultra Balls to catch Rayquaza in Pokémon Ruby even though it had red health and was asleep.

One of the best legendary cutscenes ever!
the thing with xerneas and yveltal is that they are must captures to continue the game. if you were to accidentally knock them out they would actually be on the world screen and you have to converse with them and redo the battle until you caught them. so they both have a high catch rate on purpose
This scene was so good and I loved it and caught Yveltal.

Lol nice. I have pokemon X got mewtwo with a great ball I think. got zygarde with a dusk ball, got Xerneas with a great ball and got zoroark with a quick ball (inside the winding woods). And I still have my master ball.. I wanna get that Moltres.
sean desilva i used a priemier ball to get zygarde a quick ball for yveltal dusk ball on mewtwo and a dive ball on moltres

In 2021, I got back into Pokémon, replaying an old copy of White that had been sitting on the shelf for years. I proceeded to play all the games I missed in order. Since I missed the advertising for Pokémon Y, I didn’t know what to expect going into generation 6. Luckily, the console I purchased for White was a true 3DS, so I was able to play with the 3D effect and some high quality headphones. This scene blew my mind. You go straight from the cutscene into the battle. So intense.

I thought Xerneas and Yveltal automatically came with you. I threw a poke ball at Xerneas without weakening it and got instant catch. I got Yveltal to half health and threw a ball and caught it. Might explain where all my game luck went. Haven't got but 4 critical hits since then and I miss a lot with 90 accuracy moves.
I've never been so intimidated by Pokemon before. Loved this part in the whole game.
Jeez, I love the way how they animated Yveltal in this, like how it forms a clenched fist with it's tail for starters.
Yveltal is SO badass. Her cry, her introduction, and her Oblivion Wing... just too awesome for words.
At 0:51, I think that red flowing stuff might be the the souls/life energy of everything Yveltal drained before it went into sleep.

Well, Xerneas is super effective against Dark, so naturally, Xerneas would one shot Yveltal. And the stats are pretty similar. So Xerneas could have defeated a Lvl 50 Chestnaught regardless.
I just caught him yesterday. This scene made me shed tears of awesomeness

I like how in the game, Oblivion Wing just saps health from the enemy, while in the anime: it turns its victims into stone.
I tried to catch him with the types of poke balls but he kept breaking them so I had no choice to catch him with my master ball.

Not nessicarilly luck, the catch rates on story important legendaries are really high, I feel sorry that it took your master ball, normally all it takes is 1-3 ultra balls.
The legendaries in this game are easy to catch bc you are required to catch the mascot, just like in Black/White.
I was kinda sad. I threw one quick ball and catched it... I would say I could have been extremely lucky, however it looks like it is easy for everyone to catch. It really makes it less fun, I remember that satisfaction when catching legendarys after using countless ultra balls was the best feeling.
If you used your master ball on Yveltal/Xnerneas,
Do not worry, my dear friend! (I did the same thing)
If you are planning on capturing the remaining legendaries,
They are all in CAVES!
so using a dusk ball or timer ball or quick balls (maybe ultra balls)
are your best bet.
also, paralyze the target, and you will catch it!
Just have 20 or so on hand and you will catch your legendary!
I lowered mewtwo's health to the red and paralyzed it, and I got it first try with dusk ball! :D
(also, Xerneas and Yveltal work extremely good on Mewtwo and Zygarde! HOW CONVENT!)

Ha i caught my yveltal full heath with the first ultra ball then i restarted the game brought it down in yellow and caught it on the first ultra ball once more this guy sucked plus using chesnaught was a very bad idea knowing that yveltal is dark and flying also sending out that bug pkmn was also a bad idea because wat would happen is yveltal would have popped out ur pkmn would have screwed
Yveltal is the most powerful Legendary Pokémon. During the short time I arrived before Ash, I came across this Pokémon. And he hurt me.

I may prefer life over destruction, but I gotta tell ya, Yveltal appeals SO much more to me than Xerneas. It's appearance is intimidating enough, the presence and powers it wields are AMAZINGLY dangerous and destructive as it's namesake would imply, and the fight during your conflict with Team Flare is just more fitting with the Pokemon of Destruction than the Pokemon of Life in my opinion. Plus the background looks cooler to me too.
Xerneas' sort of "R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R-R," noise, doesn't even come close to comparing with Yveltal's screech of destruction.
NGL Yvetal opened my fight with Oblivioun Wing and I went OH FUCK
Most dramatic thing happened to me when I met Yveltal... My friend was with me when the battle started but I had to piss. When I come back though I see my friend with my game. He stares into my eyes while he's doing this "rape face" while he's selection the Masterball. It gets caught and that's when I tackle him yelling "TURN IT OFF THATS FOR ZYGARDE" and in the mean time of me kicking his back he had enough time to actually SAVE the GAME!!! So I stabbed him with my stylus... And now wish me luck trying to get Zygarde -_-'

Xerneas and Yveltal are like Zekrom and Reshirma because they are required to advance in the story. That's why there so easy to catch, just look at my video of catching Xerneas and you'll see what I mean

Nowatdays, my Yveltal and I love each other very, very much, but this video reminded me of how thrilled i was the first time we met, i was completely terryfied, and felt hopeless, for some reason i do not know.
Maybe but ... it also has to do with the fact that was my first time fighting against a Legendary Pokémon on a geunine console, and the first time i fought against Yveltalt, AND i always get quite involved into Pokémon stories all along ...

I caught mine last night and it took me five times to capture it. Also I used an Ultra Ball because it will be worth using the Master Ball to capture Mewtwo

best legendary music and worst legendary battle to this date. I recall when the battle music started, it hit me like a brick of awesomeness and i though "SHIT JUST GOT REAL", i then catch it on the second turn and i was like. W-wait....that's it, well that was anti-climatic.

Dude This Cutsence Of The Game Is My faveorite! Cuase The EPIC Music. Seems To Make Me Feel Soooo Like WOW! But I Feel Like The Cutscene Would Have Been Epicer If When yveltal Is Infront Of You What The Player Does Is Pulls Out A Pokeball And Smiles At It It , Then Runs Toward The Beast And Jumps Right In. Like Pirates Of The Carribian. Still Epic.
How i caught xerneas my doublade used iron head them false swipe to leave it with one hp then threw two ultra balls

The best way to catch lengdairys is to put them 2 sleep. cause when they r sleeping they dont now to get out. :D.

I feel like it's flying for balance purpose

I caught my Xerneas barely in red zone with 4 ultra balls, eh Pokemon pathetically stepped down the challenge for something so epic.

sean desilva yeah i ran into yveltal shortly after i saw this. They've made the legendaries easier to catch. I've played all of the games (still working on White, just got it) and this is the easiest batch of legendaries ever.
Jarrod Kersey ORRRRRRR its because they increased the catch rate for the main story legendary's in B/W and X/Y. Making them super easy to catch as well as a good way to wast your master ball on if you use yours. :P
(I use a Premier Ball on Xerneas and a Poke Ball on Yveltal)
