Hello CarsandCameras you have inspired me to engine swap my Motovox mini-bike and upgrade the new engine, thank you guys so much for making the awesome videos and inspiring me!
at almost 70 years old I did not have mini bikes and go carts in my area plus could have never afforded one. When my kids came along I was over protective to keep them from getting hurt. Now you guys have me looking everywhere for go carts and min bikes. I just found a slick 1970 go cart with a chrome engine and almost no usage at all. I plan to restore it and have it at the Charlotte flea market in sept. Still looking for a mini bike. Thanks for the fun I get watching you guys
I love how you guys don't get carried away with every single time trying to top yourself. Yeah you have kindof a series in which you go from like the fast road carts to the crosskart and now the trophy truck but also just after a trophy truck video we get one of you guys on the floor wrenching on single hp number motors and buzzin around and just having fun. I really like that about this channel and you guys, please don't ever stop.
I 56 and have been building and restoring minis and karts my whole life never grew out of it have 100 minis and 25 vintage karts and always looking for more
Loved this. Older cousin got brand new one for Christmas 🎄 of 1969. I was 8-9yrs old at the time. His mini bike was the envy of the entire neighborhood. This brought back old memories! Great job & Thank you Sir!!
I had one of them when I was 10 years old in 1972- Bullet proof little mini bike-I put many many miles on her and gave it to a local kid when I joined the service. Great find!
These are really nice Mini's I have five. the Condor, the Spoiler, the Campus FX, the Trail Tramp and the Street Scamp the Trail Tamp and Street Scamp have Dual Speed Clutches, Head Light and Tail Light. Very cool Bikes
If you like Fox minis, find a Trail Tramp - street legal and two-speed clutch system gave them about 45-50 mph top speed. I had one years ago, complete lighting - same frame & fenders as the Condor and a beautiful bike!
I have worked for Fred Fox at Parts Unlimited for 27 years. We just celebrated his life and amazing accomplishments this weekend as he had passed away recently. Fred was the innovator and founder of the Fox Mini Bike which got him started as the founder of the Worlds largest Powersports Distribution Network.
A good amount of men who were kids back in the 70's are in nostalgia heaven right now. I'm waiting to see y'all rebuild a survivor mini bike from the mid 80's to the early 90's so I can get a little dose of nostalgia too. I never really had any mini bikes myself, I did have a good little go cart and a beater three wheeler though, they got me into riding four wheelers right about the same time the old go cart was borrowed without permission and the old 3 wheeler took her last ride. I have always loved anything with an engine and wheels, two or four,it don't matter,as long as I can mash the gas and steer it clear of the ditches then I'm with it.
I found something I don't thing you guys ever talked about. My predator 301 cc wasn't getting gas, so I cleaned the carb and still had the same problem (with choke stalls). I pulled the hose off the carb and saw that there was little to no gas coming out. So I cleaned tank, still same problem. There is a pet-cock on the tank, removed it and saw a 1/4" filter attached. It was clacked, so I cut it off opened the hole, and put it back together. worked great. added an in-line filter to replace it. Something you could show to your viewers in one of your builds. Keep up the great work.
My dad paid about $100 for my new Sears mini bike in 1970. Lots of fun! That Fox is a cool bike! We couldn't afford a fancy one like that, back in the day...
I remember them when they Came out New ,Gee that makes me feel old, about the same time Honda came out with their forgiving XR75's ,Marty Smith i. Think had one & they go best with a Honda S90 Kehein Carb 20 mm jetted perfectly 😎Trev New Zealand.
I dig the way things are guys. I like to nitpick most people's..."method" but you guys have a good thing going that I believe whole heatedly most guys vibe with. You're channel, partnership and execution is high quality, on a relatable no budget/low budget work for play, all fun everyday, simple joy brought from a process in progress!! I for 1 appreciate yous guys and hope you stay true to what made me subscribe in the first place. Making things work when they don't and playing like adult children do!!!
Right on I had one the Rupp roadster it was the coolest my dad bought it from a friend in early 2000 I came home everyday after school just fixing it up and understanding how it worked literally changed my life forever now build my own bikes as a hobby and have made a successful underground business out of it
I have an old minibike verrryyy similar to this one. It also has a 4hp briggs. The original motor was locked up when bought. It rides amazing. Have been riding for 15 years. Youll enjoy that sooo much
I bought one of those new in 1970 best mini bikes ever strong frames mine had lights working break lights 2 speed clutch with an optional 5 hp motor dicc breaks front and rear great bike me and my brothers had it for year rode it all year round solid machines
Awesome new bike guys. To answer a question you asked on the last video is like to see y'all stay a basic shop with minimal tools. Get tools to do the job but stay true to your roots. Love the channel. I'm a retired mech and I love watching Ike figure things out without just throwing money at it. Good luck to y'all.
That thing needs a torque converter on it, they're way better than a centrifugal clutch, less loss of power to the drive wheel, wider range of top end speed, and low end torque, also I would put coil over shocks on the rear, and you had a good idea putting a billet connecting rod, also a billet fly wheel, porting and polishing the intake port, new valves, springs and cam, that mikuni carburetor was an improvement for sure, ya it looks like you guy's are on the right track, can't wait to see it all done up in a future video, nice Job ! PS you could always put a Briggs & Stratton flat head Raptor 5hp racing engine on there too, those are a personal favorite of mine, I have one on my 1970 sears roper minibike, and the thing screams, it also has a Comet TAV2 torque converter on it !
Good ole reliable Tecumseh motor! I had a neighbor "throw away" a 3 wheel edger with the same engine. Of course I saved it with a knock off float carb from ebay for $10. It had the same diaphragm carb that was toast! Now it starts on 1st or 2nd pull. One mans trash is another mans treasure i guess.
Great video and vintage mini bike buy, where i grew up here in Canada The carbon copy to this one was Rupp and it was really popular and were everywhere and i know a friend who had one and the suspension made all the difference in the world, we were all 10/11 yrs old and always had to buy our own fuel and put our money together so never any problems, so many cool memories from early 70's, then came the Chaparral 100 cc 4 stroke 4 speed dirt bikes, cheap reliable easy to fix and a whole lotta fun 😎😎
Heck yeah! I have a Bird T-Bird I saved from a scrap yard. Nearly the same as the Condor, minus rear suspension. I put a Hemi Predator 212 on it, ported polished race head, billet rod, flywheel, Mod 2 cam, larger carb, header. Big word of advice if you hop up the engine. Go to a lot smaller rear sprocket, otherwise you won't be able to keep the front wheel on the ground.
I think I remember a video where you tried to improve this engine's performance but failed to have much success ? I wish you had left the video up anyway so we could see what you were trying to do.. . I have a rolling frame of this very model and am going to try to install an old tecumish engine from a snowblower
Nice now I’ll know how to fix mine back up. I just contacted a gentlemen to purchase a street scamp a few days ago. Should be going to pick it up tomorrow. Long time follower and first time commenter I love seeing tour guys vids when they come out keep up the awesome work 👍😁
Cool! I liked them old Fox mini bikes! My Dad bought us a Fox Scrambler back in 69-70?, and from Kmart too! It had a 4horse Tecumseh on it too and the first thing the old man did when he brought it home was disconnect the governor, and it had a smaller sprocket than that one too, so with my brother riding it, he was smaller than me, but it would hit around 30-35 mph. Wish I still had that thing today.....
olli Lehtonen Straight six, small block or big block doesn't make a difference. Quiet vs loud is a function of the muffler and exhaust system. My buddy had a 12 second 406 small block Malibu that you would never hear coming and I'm sure you've seen plenty of 4 cyl Honda 💩box's that could be heard from 3 miles away.
I 69 or 70 JC Penneys sold a mini bike called The Golden Pinto and It was 149.00. We had about 10 kids in the neighborhood with mini bikes. We had too much fun. Honda Mini Trail was 312.00 . I bought a 1972 Honda SL 100 brand new with my hard earned money and it was 525.00 still remember that day. Now I am 62. Never had so much fun with so little. Life was simple and safe then. Would love to see more detail, especially on how Ike custom made the intake manifold with washers and pipe. A lot of us watch these videos to learn. Great job as always guys
Jamie...making an intake manifold for 1 of these is the most basic of jobs, I guess not if you're inexperienced but I get your drift: if you don't have a welder you can prefab it & take it to a general engineers to get welded up or they can make 1 for you or you can take it to your local mower/Small engine guy who should be able to help you out if you talk to him nicely , use a new (Malaysia) Honda S90 (made new there still) Carb 20mm I think , don't bother with the expense of a knock-off Mikuni, the 60's-70's Sports Commuter 90cc Carb it works perfectly on the 172cc B & S & Techumseh Engine's with no jetting changes needed & unreal idle & throttle response.Trev New Zealand home of the world's fastest old Indian & Indy/Daytona racer Chris Dickson.😎
Awesome find on that Fox Minibike. You got a Steal on it. Here is Michigan that would be $400 easy. I shook my head when you guys were commenting on how well it rides. You really need to ride a Rupp from that same era. A Srambler, Enduro, Roadster 2 etc all ride better. PLUS you can still buy New parts for Rupp's. You mentioned "she" when you talked about the seat. That has to be Karen. She doesn't Great work, I'm sure you will agree when you get it in a couple months. A few years ago all I did was buy, fix, restore and sell Minibikes. This video made my day. PS Please don't screw up that bike by changing the exhaust pipe. That is Classic ! Oh, when you check the oil in a tilted engine like that you have to put the front tire on a milk crate or something so the oil pan is level with the ground. Once level just put in enough oil to cover the threads of the screw plug.
Just happened to watch this after watching your video series on the Crue-Cut Indy 500. Did you notice that in the old Crue-Cut brochure you guys bought (on the last page) this exact mini bike is sold as "The Weekender"?? Maybe Crue-Cut sold the design and parts to Fox after they folded? Take a look at the brochure!
I love barn finds! I just got an old scooter barn find myself..(free) was sitting for 10 plus years... got her running on the 1st day.. now its time to address all the warn parts
I just traded some free car parts i had salvaged from car going to scrapper to kinda barn find scooter. 2010 Kymco super8 50cc T2, been sitting on apartment buildings inner yard for 3 years with out cover and it had been stolen year before that, rattle canned horrible looking. Same assholes had gone trough fearing with angle grinder trying to find frame ID. Same thing, got it running day one with changing the fuel and cleaning the plug and now i'm addressing those fairings. Plastic welded the damaged parts in a day. Meth head had not sanded the plastics so scraping with dull knife got most off, combining that to alcohol, water sanding and some paint restored the surfaces. Still have couple front peaces to restore and it should be done on that department. Still need to chance rollers, fix couple electric issues, find two missing fairings and its good as new. Pretty decent vehicle to get to jobsite near with chainsaw. I'm looking now to find barn find ATV to get deeper into forest and move more tools. Maybe i can do swap if i'm lucky.
I had one of these. Simular. 4 horse Tecumseh with a dual centrifugal clutch with jack shaft. Orange, yes chrome tank. However mine had a headlight, taillights and a license plate holder/mount. Couldn't keep a master link on it long. They constantly broke. Me and my brother always carried extras! Oh yes chrome fenders and front + rear brake.
Bought 2 all original and complete baja doodle bugs from my step dad for 50 bucks a piece. Both run like a dream. I'll swap them out and build em up soon but I'm happy with them for now
I grew up on this same bike! Still have it. Awesome video guys! I have met Fred Fox the founder of fox minibikes. Used to work for a company he owns. Sweet find guys! Can't wait to see it restored.
So glad you guys scored a fox. I have two and I love them. I have a spoiler and a scamp. My scamp looks identical to your condor except I have a rear rack, tail light headlight and a front disc brake. Can't wait to see this build!
Hello, I'm new to building karts and trikes. Been watching for awhile. You guys are awesome. One of the reasons I got into it. I'm not a UA-camr, but have a video I'm proud of. I would like to share. (Son and Father drifting) 4 mins long. Sorry to plug this in your comments.
That lil things awesome 70s groovy lookin i like the way the engine is snug in the frame it looks well built too and aint in too bad condition either 🤘
In my area 150 for that is a steal. Thst bike looks mostly unmodified except the carb and is in great shape. I just picked up a 1971 speedway stinger for 125. Flat tires, rear tire rubs on the scrub brake, no suspension, forks have been broken and welded what looks to be 3 or more times, wrong engine, leaking oil, broken kickstand. And that was the best one for the money that i could find. Got it home and poured some gas in it and it fired right up after sitting for 5 years.
You guys inspired me to tackle a go kart for my son found a sun bleached one in Kenly for $30 when it was all done put about $600 into it rips he's finally starting not to be scared of it
Also you can remove the rust on handle bars by balling up aluminium foil and dipping in water and scrubbing them down with the crunched up aluminium foil works great with some elbow grease and leaves no scratches in chrome
I have one identical to that, they are very rare, my dad bought it brand new, it’s in pretty good condition although he took the original engine off to put on a go kart along time ago. But we want to get it running soon!
Go bigger shop wise but continue to build the same way so it's easier for the viewers to get a better perspective of how its done without the big expensive equipment n can see u don't need it to build stuff like u guys do now .....i love watching ur channel it shows ppl like me that it's possible to build go karts without a ton of money .....keep up the amazing work
I saw a trick on another channel. He soaked the diaphragm in brake fluid overnight and it worked. It was a first for me. Also, you guys might want to try an ultrasonic cleaner from HF.
That's a loyal little bike there, teeming with character. Can't wait to see you guys breathe some new life into it; I'm sure it'll take to it well. Should really just bite the bullet and get rings for it while you're at it; I wouldn't be surprised if once there's a lot of heat in it if the gap started coming too far out of spec.
I'd love to see a full fleet update. Not a whole show, but it be great to see all the projects lined up in some sequence. At this point you probably have a whole yard full.
I'm having trouble finding any cool things from my younger years around my area. So maybe just a custom build would work better .. always a big kid at heart
definitely like the gas tank on frame. definitely like fat tires in comparison to the skinny originals. my 1969 bonanza rigid frame (bought in summer 1969) ran 25 mph wide open going downhill with 3 horse briggs. delivered a LOT of newspapers off that bike. that bike was WAY underpowered in comparison to the typical 6 horse mini of today.
So, to summarize:
Use prices you find online as a rule of thumb as the MAXIMUM you should pay
The more features, the more you should be prepared to pay
The laws of supply and demand apply- if you’re in an area with a big mini bike following, but not many bikes for sale, be prepared to pay more. Same goes for vice versa.
All in all, mini bikes are a niche product, in various shapes, makes, models, etc. For these reasons, it’s difficult to put a standard value on mini bikes and go karts. Basically, they’re worth whatever the prospective buyer is willing to pay. Can’t wait to restore this one!

Had a 5 hp brigs on a 70 model . It was great , Pulled in sand and mud . Just rinsed it off and oiled the chain and clutch.
Don’t go tearing that engine apart and putting overpowered shit in it, keep it it mint
IT'L BE FINE
It's a Tecumseh. If you even look at it funny, it'll throw the rod out the side of the block. 😂
@@Hellsong89 very cool
I love this kind of video! Mini bike rescues are the best
We acquired a 70' Fox scrambler we are in the process to getting it to run, ours has the Tecumseh 3.5 hp.
They day this mini bike was built these two guys were just a nut blow of the future
Love it one of the favorite things that I own is a 1971 Roadster rupp mini bike
Bought 2 all original and complete baja doodle bugs from my step dad for 50 bucks a piece. Both run like a dream. I'll swap them out and build em up soon but I'm happy with them for now
I grew up on this same bike! Still have it. Awesome video guys! I have met Fred Fox the founder of fox minibikes. Used to work for a company he owns. Sweet find guys! Can't wait to see it restored.
Ike is the man. He's got his own Island. That's pretty badass did you guys are both badass I love you show
Super funny I pick up a fox spoiler from my 80 year old picker uncle for 25 bucks bad tires one bad rim locked up motor can not wait to see this build
So glad you guys scored a fox. I have two and I love them. I have a spoiler and a scamp. My scamp looks identical to your condor except I have a rear rack, tail light headlight and a front disc brake. Can't wait to see this build!
I picked up 2 rupp roadster 2’s a few months ago. Same motor and diaphragm carb as yours. Restoring it as well 🤘
man, i wouldnt be shocked to learn that the motor on that bike has VERY minimal runtime. sounds really strong. whole package looks great
Dude this bike is awesome, I would love to see it restored to its former glory, all shiny and chrome :)
Wow! One of the coolest minibikes ever! The full suspension seems super rare... Im not jealous... honest lol
bill marvin I know my dad bought one brand new, and we still have it today. They are very hard to find.
That lil things awesome 70s groovy lookin i like the way the engine is snug in the frame it looks well built too and aint in too bad condition either 🤘
I like when the weather is bad. People will wanna get rid of stuff. Plus, I like to go toward the end of the day.
Go bigger shop wise but continue to build the same way so it's easier for the viewers to get a better perspective of how its done without the big expensive equipment n can see u don't need it to build stuff like u guys do now .....i love watching ur channel it shows ppl like me that it's possible to build go karts without a ton of money .....keep up the amazing work
Wow seems to run well for being that old . Great find bud
I saw a trick on another channel. He soaked the diaphragm in brake fluid overnight and it worked. It was a first for me. Also, you guys might want to try an ultrasonic cleaner from HF.
Sweet been waiting to see this. Absolute awesome bike and great price
That is THE coolest mini bike I've ever seen! Great video y'all.
Hey great mini bike don't you just love vintage mini bikes they're my favorite
Good job guys, back to your roots. More like this.
Yay a 20 min video.awesome
I'd love to see a full fleet update. Not a whole show, but it be great to see all the projects lined up in some sequence. At this point you probably have a whole yard full.
Anyone else notice what Ike’s welding jacket says? HoFart
A Ho Fart is from the dirty side of town. Lol
These guys seem to mix parody with reality. I LIKE IT I LIKE IT !
That is back spackle on John's back. Rock on Dudes
Reminds me a bit of my 1971 Rupp roadster I had when I was a kid.
I got nearly 50 MPH out of that bike!
Still have mine
1971 would be a Roadster/2. I have a 68 TT, a 70 Roadster with diaphragm carb, and '71 Black Widow.
Church pews? Y’all putting motors on a church pew? ⛪️
duh, who doesnt?!
churches non essential so its perfect!
Amen?
do a manco thunderbird, got one myself, put over 1000 miles on it so far, daily driver
That thing is awesome, you’ll do a great job on your project!
Keep it original, love those old bikes. I have four Rupps, and several knock off ones like that one. So cool
Wish I still had my 1971 Rupp Scrambler. Beautiful metallic Green. Unfortunately it was stolen shortly after it threw a rod.
You did good by getting the right seat cover. The bike deserves it!
Sweet little mini bike. Great to see it going, and good on you guys for being pragmatic about getting it going. It's made to be ridden after all!
I'm almost 50 and like it LOUD dang John
Awesome! I just picked up a 1972 Rupp that's pretty rough. I think I'm going restomod on it and ride 🤘🤠
I would love to see a few performance mods later on and you finish reviving it, definitely a few things up try and up the top speed
Best channel I buying your merchandise I love your channel keep up the good work
Watch all the vids, don't always comment,....but I enjoyed this one of course! From Seabeck, Washington State!
I'm having trouble finding any cool things from my younger years around my area. So maybe just a custom build would work better .. always a big kid at heart
Same Here :) I am a 66 year old Tomboy and a Grandma with 4 grand kids and some times I let my Grand kids Ride my Go Kart :) LOL
Please tell me I'm not the only one who geeked at the traxass slash in the background
Dope little bike man. I see why you're so in love. Keep it up boys, you're killing it.
I can smell it from here and I love it.
Nice old school minibike, guys. Thanks.
definitely like the gas tank on frame. definitely like fat tires in comparison to the skinny originals. my 1969 bonanza rigid frame (bought in summer 1969) ran 25 mph wide open going downhill with 3 horse briggs. delivered a LOT of newspapers off that bike. that bike was WAY underpowered in comparison to the typical 6 horse mini of today.
