  • Daisetsuzan National Park in Hokkaido, Japan has been described as a hiker's paradise because of its many pristine hiking tracks through the mountains. We decided to tackle Hokkaido's tallest mountain - Mt. Asahidake, which also happens to be an active volcano.
    You can take a ropeway half way up the mountain which means its a manageable 2 and a half hour hike to the top. It's still fairly hard work though, so make sure you're feeling fit before you go (not like us haha!).

    Aimee: "Probably won't film at all going down because it's very slippery and I need my hands"
    Roy: Challenge accepted.

      Yeah it’s definitely not too strenuous, especially if you are from the Alps! You can keep hiking from Asahidake to other peaks and do a multi-day hike too.

    I'm gonna be in Hokkaido next week and plan to hike Asahidake (using the ropeway :D) , a little bit worried cause I'm also not that fit..

      Ooh have fun! Hope you get good weather! Yeah we were not very fit when we did this hike so we were huffing and puffing a bit, but it's relatively short so if you take it slow it should be fine 😊 Good luck!

      Yeah unfortunately Japan's borders are still closed at the moment to non-resident's 😔 We've been living in Japan since before covid began.

      It's really hard to know. We've seen a couple of news articles recently about Japan possibly easing border restrictions for new foreign workers and students but we have no idea about tourists. Would love to see people being able to explore Japan again!

    I heard this mountain have kill people

    • @RoyandAimee
      @RoyandAimee  2 роки тому

      Yeah unfortunately I believe people have passed away while climbing this mountain and others in Daisetsuzan National Park. The area gets a lot of snow and the weather can change quickly. Hiking in summer or early autumn on a good weather day is probably best 😊
