I think that gamification is playing while working/learning or working/learning while playing. The key is that the task (working/learning) is indistinguishable from playing. The examples Tom gave do not sound 'playful' so I would venture that they are not gamification, but nudges and prompts to behave in a certain way. Long story short: don't sully the idea of gamification with things that aren't gamification.
