On a side note - back in the 70's Makapuu was all sand - no rocks sticking out in the middle. One of the most beautiful white sand beaches on Oahu back then. Back on November 1982 Hurricane Iwa took all the sand out to a trough about halfway from the beach to the point. It's been 4 decades now and the sand has slowly come back to the beach but it'll take decades for all that sand to come back to shore...
