Austin was robbed of an Oscar for working on this for 3 years. He became Elvis I am 80 I saw the real Elvis 3 times in concert and Austin was incredible. No one puts this much work into a film roll, I loved the movie even though some was not correct, and left out his humanitarian work, it was very good. For moments that you need to see since you like history. Watch, "Elvis and the Black Community", "Elvis Presley King of Kindness", and so many real interviews to see the kind person who loved his fans. The tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King "If I Can Dream" from the 68 Special sung with passion and true Love. thanks man, Love your reaction. Mary

Austin was fantastic, and he definitely deserved an Oscar for his performance.
No actor could have done a better job.
However, Elvis had a special combination of innocence, politeness, humbleness, religiousness, confidence, ego, and an enormous amount of sex appeal.
Everybody has their own energetic field that can`t be doubled. No one can.
That`s the thing Austin could not deliver. Elvis oozed sex appeal, which nobody can imitate. Elvis has been training to be Elvis Presley for 42 years.
People are often very irrational, and they demand too much.
A diamond is a diamond but a brilliant is a brilliant, is a brilliant.

when I first heard they were doing another Elvis movie, I thought "oh great another POS about the GOAT", then I saw it and thought "holy shit that was incredible, that Butler kid has Elvis down, his walking gait was exact, totally blew my mind

Yes a year later and it is still amazing to see what this man put in a lifetime Oscar performance and completely nailed it. I swear u could put it in the theater again this year and the people would still go to see it. I know the film and Austin won countless awards for this amazing production and performance. But it us still a crime that the movie wad nominated for 8 awards and was shut out and Austin robbed if the Oscar he truly honestly deserved. It is a shame the academy lost their integrity a long time ago. Can never get enough of seeing new people discovering this film ,Austin, and Elvis himself.

You need to watch the comparison of the number from the 68 Comeback Special. Austin gets it down to the shaking of his hand when he reaches for the mic.

I didn't see this in the theater as Elvis was a before my time and wasn't an interesting subject to me. My mother did go and see it and kept saying how good it was. Fast forward to January 2024 and it comes to NetFlix. I get out my popcorn and proceed to watch. I ended up watching it three times. I watched the interviews with Austin Butler and the Director Baz Luhrman to find out more about the making of the movie and I went to a subject matter expert.......my mother. My mother was an impressionable 15-year-old when Elvis started becoming popular at 19-20 years old. I asked her how accurate the movie was in depicting the culture of the 50's when Elvis came out. She said she was one of those girls who loved Elvis. She had all his music and her friend who worked at the local downtown theater snuck her in every time an Elvis movie came out. She said yes, the older generation thought he was a corrupting influence and her mother thought he was the devil. She said everyone hated Cornel Parker and thought he was a con artist. Before this movie I never heard of Parker. There were aspects of brilliance in that movie.........the juxtaposition of the revival meeting and Elvis's first concert. The use of modern-day music sprinkled throughout and in particular on Beale Street. Let's not forget about Austin Butler. I cannot imagine anyone doing a better job. The dedication he showed to this role shown through in the movie. The interviews were interesting in that it really showed how this movie almost didn't happen because Tom Hanks got COVID. How Austin Butler was rushed to the hospital the night they called it a wrap. The movie also opened up some great dialogue between myself and my mother.

I am 80, and was 12 in 1956 when my dad didn't want me to watch him on Sullivan. He was beautiful and dangerous. I saw Elvis 3 times in person, nobody of course looked as good as Elvis but Butler captured his soul. the only thing left out in the movie and most of media, is him as a generous humanitarian. He helped found the Memphis capture of St. Judes Hospital, he helped eradicate polio in the 50's, and of course was the single largest donor to the Pearl Harbor memorial. There is more. See "Elvis Presley King of Kindness' and "Elvis Presley A Generous Heart" he almost gave away more than he made. Be Blessed

Yep, nah it's why I've never been interested in seeing the movie, technically it's good but it's not natural, Elvis did it because he felt it, this guy is just copying and it shows

Before you comment you should actually watch the movie lol. Your opinion holds no weight if you don't. It's just a pre-biased opinion

lol, as a bioptic movie about someone else, the actor would naturally have to "copy" the original artist, otherwise it wouldn't be authentic...

All of you complainers are ridiculous. Of course watching the real Elvis performances will look more better/natural, because he doesn't have to think of what he is going to do, he is ELVIS, he just starts singing & moving on instinct to what his body is feeling in that moment.
For those reasons, I think Austin job was way harder than, Elvis himself, because Austin had to remember every movement to a "T".
For instance, when Elvis starts adjusting the Mic-stand he didn't have to start thinking " OK I HAVE ADJUST THE MIC, I'M GOING TO USE MY RIGHT HAND AND GRAB IT HERE & THEN GOING TO GRAB IT UP HERE AGAIN & THEN DROP MY RIGHT HAND GRAB IT WITH MY LEFT." In other words Elvis didn't have to think what each part of his body was going to do, that's why his performance looks more Natural, you have to be an idiot to think otherwise.
But, this Jacob Restituto video reaction is about how remarkable Austin was with his "ACTING" he did every little gesture that Elvis did in the clip. Austin is an actor that's his job, NOT A SINGER/PERFORMER. But because of that reason alone he should be praised not put down or say what he did was nothing special.
Second of all, you should not be comparing him to Elvis the performer, he is an Actor, so he should be compared to other actors in the past who have done Elvis & then you will see how special Austin performance is, he went beyond any actor that has portrayed him in the past, there is no comparison!!
And what really matters is the opinion of Elvis family especially Lisa Marie & she LOVED how AUSTIN portrayed her father. In her own words he "NAILED IT" So you haters keep hating, because at end of the day, your opinions DON"T MATTER!!

@@jcgpisces579 YOU CANNOT GET AND/OR CAPTURE EVERY LITTLE GESTURE OF ELVIS. YOU ARE THE HATER. I AM AN ALL OUT ELVIS FAN.PERIOD. AS FAR AS YOU ADJUSTING THE MIC, PLEASE, DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE DO THAT. IT GIVES THEM SOMETHING TO DO ON STAGE. NOT REALLY SOMETHING YOU HAVE TO THINK ABOUT. OH MY AUSTIN HAD TO EVEN THINK TO ADJUST THE MIC STAND. WOW!!!! SUCH TALENT TO THINK OF THAT. 5 YEAR OLDS DO THAT. I HAVE SEEN ALL THAT HAVE PLAYED ELVIS, SO I DON'T NEED TO AGAIN. I HAVE NOTHING AT ALL AGAINST AUSTIN, I LIKE HIM AND HE IS A GOOD ACTOR. YOU HAVE A LOT OF HATE AND RESENTMENT INSIDE OF YOU TO COME AT ME FOR MY OPINION. GOODBYE AUSTIN FAN!

The movie was terrible. Hollywood took a beautiful, masculine man and feminized him.
