When Americans watch Power they watch for entertainment not debating on real representation of the streets. Top Boy is a drama series not a documentary. They touched on real topics which is good enough.

@@nasriarms3696 I understand what you mean, but the audience has grown. It's not being watched just in the UK anymore. This is why it's still in the top 10 on Netflix. Plus there are shootouts happening in London, Loonz doesn't like it because they referenced it Court. The only part that I thought was silly was Shelly's storyline, the shop getting shot up and nobody was hurt and the way Pebbles spoke.

I think it’s obvious the channel 4 version was a much better representation and the Netflix version they had to make it a lot more dramatised and commercialised for mass appeal, simple.

I can honestly say that watching the part of top boy when Lauren ran for her life is very realistic and relatable to me personally as I was in a very similar situation and had to run for my life from a guy I briefly dated an he was very violent towards me, I was locked indoors and abused daily to the point when I had the opportunity to run I ran and ran even though I could barely breath had to get to a train station and get to another city to get away and save my life so for me that was very realistic 🤦🏾♀️😔

I’ve never been on roads or anything. But summerhouse seemed more realistic and seems like the writers just went over the top with the latest two season.

I would say the realism went down but from a pure writing perspective it improved massively, characters became more multidimensional and compelling, the plots became richer. If the writing didn’t change it would have pigeon holed itself massively. Biggest improvement outside of the pacing and action. Is the Sully Character also shout out to Kano. He should be in the Emmy Awards conversation.

That first season was so good. Then with the Netflix renewal, people just started dying without any proper time to like the character, and the way people just killed without getting caught just didn’t make sense to me.

Most shows can’t give a realistic view in all aspects. The relationships. The ideals it’s def realistic but at the same time you have to entertain and attract all viewers not just the mandem so to an extent it’s as true as allowed. Sully in jail. Dushane killing Sugars boy the relationship between Jamie and his brothers when the Top Boy gets out of the feds. A lot of realistic situations maybe amped bc it’s on TV

Love Jasmine... remember these shows are also entertainment so its gonna be a lil of this and that. I'm from The Chi and if you watch that the show The Chi on Showtime its not a 100% of the Chicago inner city lifestyle but it has its elements. Love Top Boy tho. Think we will see Jamie and many of the others from the show probably over here in the US soon acting as well. Much success to the cast.

@@learner5090 deffo one of the greatest shows of all time in my opinion. I also like the shield (in my opinion the only show that can give the wire a run for it’s money). I like Top Boy summerhouse, it doesn’t feel so over the top and is a lot more relatable to my experience in London. The new Top boy has its moments and does it’s job overall for entertainment but won’t be standing the test of time or worth a rewatch in my books.
