Jordan really stumped her on the freedom of speech issue in this same interview. Discriminating against anyone for any reason other than their competency is punished in the competitive free market, not hiring the best person for the job puts any company at a competitive disadvantage against their competitors who do. That's why discrimination doesn't pay. Thank God for the competitive free market.

He is very thoughtful. He is also in his own head. He pretends it is all over and it is only up to women to fix thier position for much of his reasoning. If it weren't for women ......they would get more pay then men.
Then he puts power in thier hands over purchasing decisions .... at home that clearly they don't translate to power in the workplace ..... for the sake of this debate he throws in herrings. She was a good journalist challenging in her interview. He was a good debater at deflecting content back as an adult.
Point blank .... the wife of a friend was a VP for a large firearm manufacturer .... she was a problem solver ..... the fixer ..... she would travel to save mismanaged factories, or make the call to close it down if the on site management or workforce weren't up to the task. She discovered there was a substantial pay gap between her and other similarly situated VPs ....
All men, who the company did not trust to do what she did..... world wide.. international travel that other similarly situated VPs did not do. She was PRAISED and recognized as the best in the company. Receiving regular profit performance bonuses that other VPs did not earn regularly. She trained the regional low level executives for the entire company as the quality of her ethics and knowledge of the industry and roles in the company benefitted the entire company operations. SHE also was under the typical anti compete clauses of upper level executives. She approached her boss about what she found out, and he simply stated ....... don't go there. .... don't make waves if you want to still be employed here. This company will fight you.
Her boss thougt it unfair but would not approach anyone about it in the company on her behalf as it would threaten her employment and he did not want to lose her expertise, leadership, competence and unique roll she had carved out for herself in the company that he benefited from as her boss.
She was aware of the disparity in compensation ..... as the only female in her role that clearly was elevated in responsibility and professional recognition in the company far above her peers. She assumed she made more. She was wrong. She chose the retirement in a few years and the contracted payout ........ and thank you retirement party a few years ago. She made the calculus. For some, we just living in Disney land because WWII happened, The soviet union fell, women got the vote and slavery ended at the expense of states rights so long ago. Everyone is treated the same now because the antichrist is defeated as the SOCTUS majority delivered by savior Trump is needed for his 2nd earthly kingdom in 2024.

Maybe in the corporate world but where else. I worked with teachers, male/female same pay scale. Relatives in law enforcement same pay male/ female. Firefighters male/female same pay. Any line of construction same pay for both. Of course Dr's, Dentist's, Lawyers set their own pay. So please tell me where pay is not equal. Even government has set pay.

  • @popester8068
    @popester8068 2 роки тому +9

That conversation went in circles longer than I expected just to reach the same conclusion over and over again. My wife became a Doctor and I dropped out of college. She climbed the ladder as I struggled to find a carrier. I became a land developer and built a 50,000 sqft complex as my first build, as passive income. Most women choose comfort over risk. Most men tend to choose risk over comfort. Men are known to max out debt and eat spam while working out of a garage in order to reach success, while women would rather find a successful man for a comfortable life.

Her entire argument was based on a meaningless study and woman at the BBC claiming, not proving, they are paid less for the same job. Someone saying they deserve more isn’t unique or proof of it being true. Did they sue the BBC and win in court? To even use that example shows she’s bitter because she wants to use her gender to gain an unfair advantage and jump over the few people above her in the company. She was talking about herself the entire time and not listening to anything he said because she had an agenda! She didn’t mention her stats on the pay gap was also based on men working 10 hours more per week which accounts for most of the gap. Who would think the person who showed up to work more would be paid more! Mind blown!

One of the funniest things to come out of this interview was the BBC doing an internal audit based on her claims and discovering they were actually paying men less for doing the same job and then having to give those men a raise because it was illegal to pay them less. Still makes me laugh every time I'm reminded of it.

I need to comment that the bit about most women having a family/career crisis between the ages of 28-32 strikes so true so hard for me. That's exactly the age when my biological clock, as it were, started ticking really hard. When suddenly I, who had been super opposed to having kids for as long as I can remember, suddenly started thinking, "But do I seriously *never* want to have a kid?" When I started wrestling with what having kids would mean for my life and my career, the sacrifices I'd have to make. When I realized my 20s were rapidly disappearing, and I had to decide *now* whether I'd ever have kids, and if I did... whether I wanted to give up trying to attain my dream career to do it. And it's a super difficult crisis to navigate! Especially as a traditionally Christian woman in this day and age, because I've got society telling me in one ear that my career is what defines me, and I've got my church and family in the other ear telling me that motherhood is the ultimate good I can achieve. I wanted both, but I knew I couldn't have both without chipping most of the good out of each and leaving myself overworked and unsatisfied (not to mention, potentially sacrificing the well-being of my kids on the altar of my own ambition).
Well, I'm at the exact end of that age range now, and, coincidentally, I'm also at the end of the crisis. Because here I sit, hugely pregnant with my second child, having made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom, and I'm exceedingly happy with it. Honestly, I'm much happier now than I was at 27, when I was still trying to grind my way up the ladder of my dream career. Now it's my husband who gets to do that, while I have a blast homeschooling our first kid and looking forward to meeting the second in a couple months. Are there times where I think back on what I sacrificed to be here and wonder where I'd be if I'd made a different decision? Sure. Who doesn't do that? But is there an instant where I regret having this awesome little dude running around and getting to be in his life as much as possible? Nope. Not a microsecond.

Back in the early 70's, I was working in a retail store. I had a 2 yr old at home who caught pneumonia and went into the hospital...which caused me to lose three weeks of work. When I came back to work, I was asked to resign or be terminated! A nice man I worked with lost over a month of workbecause of illness that hit both his child and his wife. He was promoted when he returned to work! I felt very determined about My job to learn all I could and even worked in several depts, which my male counterpart did not.
In the 80's, still working in retail (office work this time) many of us women felt underpaid and joined a protest group called 9 to 5...lol, just like the movie! It was the industry we worked in that kept wages low and thus they earned a higher profit margin. The outrage began when we discovered that our male counterparts were earning more than us!? To us female workers; we saw no logical reason for this disparity until you realized that we accepted our fate! We didn't fight for raises and we were not aggressive in pursuing promotions nor asking for raises. Most of us had families and just wanted to work our 9 to5 jobs and go home. This was because our workload didn't end at 5pm...oh no, there was dinner to cook and clothes to be washed and dried, a child or 2 to take care of and a husband who wanted his fair share of our attention. How can you ever even out this distinct difference not only in pay, but also respect for the many jobs women perform every single day and most do it without complaint. How?????

I’m now going to binge watch all of these types of videos from you. I agree with the majority of what you believe. Good on you. Keep it up!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥

I've never seen so many people, try so hard, to make someone, Jordan Peterson in this case, their enemy. He isn't malevolent, or violent and he never preaches any form of hatred, or prejudice. All he does, is attempt to improve other people's lives, through his very well informed, and thoroughly articulated viewpoint, and radical leftists and feminists try to demonize him and bring him down, at every turn. I just don't understand it.

Bro. This dude has my attention. I started watching and listening a while back but I loved the transition from the smart intelligent man he was with no fear to stand to the smart intelligent man with no fear Christian. He gas a video on how the Bible changed his life. God bless bro. Keep some prayers if I may ask. Life has taken a horrible turn on me. Why I'm up and seen this lol.

I come to back this for a laugh once every few months. If Kathy had anyone in her circle willing to be honest with her, they’d tell her to learn from this. Kathy ascended to a premier position in one of best news orgs in the world. Then proceeds to demonstrate that acumen by beginning most questions with, “So you’re saying that…” which is immediately refuted by JP. I thought/assumed she was a reporter. If that is accurate, there’s another video to be done. Sheesh Thank you for removing whatever camouflage you thought you had, Kathy.

I remember when he called this stuff out in 2016 when Canadian gov was attempting a compelled speech bill.
Check out the GQ interview, another confrontational interviewer
Ps: gov is attempting more censorship bills, c-11 is one. We need help from our cousins South of the border in the USA like when sen. Hawley pointed out the persecution of our pastors the last 2 years including Artur Pawlovski who’s been arrested a number of times including for feeding the homeless in the winter of 2020/2021

If you take emotion out of the gender pay gap argument (this is what tends to make people lose track or stake their flag on one side or the other per tribalism) it makes absolutely no sense... the only way you can say that the gender pay gap exists is if you are actually sexist and looking to discriminate based on gender.
Men and women aka people humans with many things the same and some things different. Every human does different things in a cause and effect reality, every human faces different outcomes. You can group people by any characteristic and there is a difference in the sum total of their outcomes. For example, people with green eyes earn the lowest wages on average, and people with brown eyes earn the highest wages on average. I don't know of anybody fighting against the eye colour pay gap, but it exists, but it is meaningless.
None of this detracts from the fact that discrimination does still exist and we should strive to mitigate it where possible. The gender pay gap argument actually detracts from this progression towards equality by distracting people with false targets. In much the same way that racism is kept alive by modern day anti-racists, sexism is kept alive by anti-sexists. Thanks Twitter.

If you account for overtime hours, men and women in the same occupation, etc, the pay gap effectively disappears, and actually shows very slightly in favor of women. These aren’t false targets, people who work more will earn more. People who ask for raises more often will tend to get more raises. This is what JBP means when he says it’s part of a multivariate equation. There are many variables at play, and they aren’t just “false targets”

I was fixed on this interview, Jordan Peterson first time listening. I'm sorry I did not catch the interviewers name. He is one of the most polite persons I've heard and seen. He presents himself beautifully, and is patient. A few times he jumped in, but that was short lived, compared to the hurdles she was jumping. One of the best interviews I've seen...Peace 🙏☝️🤓

She asks the questions and answers them herself,She ignores his questions when she doesn't have a ready answer which favours her arguments. His comment on high emotions went right over her head. Busted, defeated and deflated because she realised halfway through he could verbally destroy her with facts anytime he chose, Wonderful.

As a Brit. I'm going to call her out on her opening comments re. BBC. All BBC staff( admin, technicians etc) are paid the rate for their grade, regardless of gender, it's against employment law not to. The Front of camera staff 'The Talent' ( if you can call it that) are freelance and negotiate their own contracts. Female 'talent' agreed contracts for less than male 'talent' did, found out they had agreed less salary and kick up stink about it.

Part of interviewer's job is to actually "listen" to what the interviewee is really saying and not saying. She is astonishingly horrible at doing one of her basic task, instead, in her head she has a precondition set of responses that didn't reflect what he actually said or is saying. That's why she was terribly humiliated during and after, and like the true leftist victim mentality that she is she portays herself as the victim following backlash that was her own fault.

This woman is a PERFECT example of why many women are not successful in the workplace. She does not listen, and she is stupid enough to resort to false accusations and aggression when confronted with evidence of the truth. She reminded me of how a 2-year-old toddler throws a tantrum when mom or dad tells them they can't have a lollipop in the checkout line.
