@@Sirius10117 lol he is neither, pikachu is inspired by a squirrel. the creator of pokemon was really into squirrels when he started creating pokemon, so he wanted the main character to have a squirrel. that's the reason for the puffy cheeks and his big tail (he changed the tail into a lightning form however to emphasize the electric nature of pikachu)
