    The options are crazyyyyy, less playing time for her but the trade off of being coached by Dawn Staley and company plus the standard playing at SC are all great things for her especially if her goal is to play in the W

    • @baudrex
      @baudrex 29 днів тому

      yes, And Staley knows how to develop fast a player and do changes to win. Dauda can win Kitts position and outplay her. Kitts is a wonderful backup, don't how stron gg she can be as a starter even if she deserves it. Edwards will play as Tessa last years. It will be Raven and Te-Hina Death Tour (masked as a repeat) with Fawiley as the executioner

    You seem to have forgotten Sania Feagin as a post player. Now we're talking some combination of Watkins/Kitts/Douda/Feagin/Tac/Edwards at the 2 post positions, but I ALSO think we could see Dawn deploying a big lineup with either Douda or Kitts defaulting to a wing position, adding versatility with either Kitts or Douda rotating into the post. I really see this as a highly underrated move because of the aforementioned versatility this gives Dawn Staley. Where before Carolina would have to count on the players at the 1 thru 3 shooting from downtown, now she could throw Douda in at the 4, and you've instantly got 4 players who can shoot the 3. I also see this opening up the court for someone like Milaysia Fulwiley or Raven Johnson or even Tessa Johnson or PaoPao. I know I sound like a broken record, but there is just versatility, versatility, and more versatility with this roster.
    Dawn could play 4 guards and Douda and have literally 5 3 point shooters on the court OR she could do as I said earlier and play Kitts or Douda at the 3 and go with a HUGE lineup. Put Breezy in there at the 2 and you get even bigger. You know, it was said awhile ago, when certain players declared for the portal, that Dawn Staley posted a picture on twitter of her with a 'cat that ate the canary' grin on. I have to wonder if it had anything to do with this. In effect, this becomes a Douda for Sahnya Jah trade, and that's one I think Dawn Staley would take 100 times out of 100.
    Moreover, LSU, Carolina's top competition these last 2 years, loses Angel Reese, Katari Poole, and Hailey Van Lith all in one fell swoop, just furthering the divide in talent between South Carolina, and then everyone else.
    Just as a final say for those who read this who hate Dawn Staley and South Carolina, people, we're not great at ANY OTHER SPORT. We're not perennial football greats. We've been to the men's final 4 just once in our history. We haven't made any noise in baseball since Ray Tanner was coach. Outside of women's soccer where Shirley Smith is a fantastic coach, we really suck at most other sports. Women's basketball is the one sport we South Carolina alum have where we do well, so cut us some slack. Let us Gamecock alum have this one thing to enjoy.

    I’ve watched Maryam play for several years. I am super excited that she got picked up by Coach Staley. Great for both Maryam and South Carolina! With her strong work ethic and dedication, she will fit nicely into South Carolina’s system. She will get stronger with Body by Molly. SC has a proven track record of developing Bigs so she’s in good hands. By playing with such a high level of talent, her game will only get better.
    As for what she can do for South Carolina, I have a feeling that Adhel is still recovering & may not be ready this Fall. Maryam can help us in the post position. Ashlyn tends to be foul prone so Maryam can come off the bench should that happen. Maryam won’t start this year, but I expect that she will get solid minutes. She will start her senior year.

      Not even close, the best coach is one who does the most with normal players. Krusty the Clown could coach 10 all stars to buzz saw the tournament. This is just the result of allowing the monopolization for talent. If we really love wbb we should pressure the NCAA to distribute talent. This will build the stars who will make their own legends and then bring their own fans to build the WNBA.

    SMH - This is such destructive garbage! How can anyone support the continued destruction of women's basketball?... Everyone who cares about wbb should write/call the NCAA, demanding they become a real Association (Of the 350 D1 teams, just 2 or 3 teams get half of the 5 stars!)....No other association or League allows for the talent monopolies like the w NCAA. We haven't seen anything like this elsewhere for over half a century, when Red Aurbach's back door control of the NBA had his Celtics win every championship, early destroying the league, which wasn't saved until 1969 when thankfully the draft and salary cap were reformed and Kareem went to Milwaukee and then other stars to other teams.
    It's amazing that nobody has learned the #1 lesson of the Caitlin Clark phenomena... Clark had the courage to buck the monopoly system and the conventional wisdom that you needed to go to an all-star team to become WNBA ready. Instead she chose her own team where she could build her own legend - she made the greatest story even in WNCAA because of this, building the biggest fan base ever and even brought these fans with her.
    - Fans can't be built IN the WNBA, because the WNBA doesn't have a strong/positive traction in the zeitgeist. For examplee, bring in a European player and she won't be famous at all - no matter how great she is. (We have even seen the NBA suffer from not having players build their own legend BEFORE going to the league, and the NBA is established in the zeitgeist.). IF a womens basketball player is going to be a superstar, her light has to explode forth in the ncaa. Just like the night sky, a new star's light can't fully be seen if coming out behind a cluster of other stars.
    - Being on an all star team weakens a 5 stars development because they only face real competition a couple of games in an entire year and they coast off each other. We saw this last year, every year - with uSC and Ucon where only injury or a FF team might stop them. We see the results in the WNBA too, where even the best (like A'ja) need years to develop more and many (like Boston) lack real discipline and pressure experience. On a unique team, with maybe one other top player yet mostly 4, 3, 2 stars playing roles, the star will have to learn to maximize her talents, to actually play with a coach and scheme in order to win, to mesh with different talent levels, and most of all to face real adversity.
    - 2 teams have won over 40% of all WNCAA titles. 6 teams have won 70% of all WNCAA natties. Yet Tennessee, Baylor, Uconn, uSC, Notre Dame, and Stanford have completely failed the WNBA. The league has been failed on many levels, but most of all on the myth that a few teams can build it. Exhibit A - just last week the Connecticut sold out their first game, since the start of the league, and this only because of the fans that CC brings with her. The ''great'' wbb state of Connecticut can't sell 15,000 tickets for their pro team - mistakenly awarded to them on the premise that they would go. Turns out the fans just want to cheer for a front runner where wins are all but guaranteed (esp. in the weakest major conference). But South Caronlina fans have also failed to follow their former players, on so many teams, and never filled out WNBA arenas. Why would they when they have 10, that is 10 five stars on a team - they can just watch them buzz saw the season and make a travesty of the tournament and natty. (nobody but homers wants to see an all-star team destroy all sense of sport = imagine if Jordan had had to face an all-star team every year...)
    -Somehow, the NCAA, the media, and too many people have completely ignored the lessons that Clark and Iowa just brought us. Just 1 player, 1 great player - who was unexpected (because she didn't play on an all-star team), who developed organically with her team/play, and of course who did amazing things, was about to build her underdog story into a legend. It is worth noting that Iowa is unique in supporting amatuer athletes as an entire state, yet MANY other schools have a strong alumni following. Most of all, legends are built on underdog stories. . . However, instead of learning from this - and this is a cornerstone of sport's history going back into the poor man's punchers chance boxing days of Rocky-like stories - instead people are falling for divisive narratives (we all know the junk junk thinking in the airwaves) as the reason that Clark w/Iowa built the biggest wave in wbb history.
    - The media will continue to double down, despite Clark raising their viewers by 500%, in no small part because they are peopled with former players from those few monopoly teams yet most of all because they want to set up a profit mill off of a few teams (like promoting a handful of women pop stars at the cost of all other music).
    - If this doesn't change, the growth from the Clark/Iowa wave will stagnate. We will end up with the Clark show and then everything else. People will blame Clark yet, if they didn't wake up and smell the roses, then make a move to deal with the thorns blocking the way, they will have no one to blame but themselves.

    Players will learn that they won’t play in SC and start going other places, won’t last for ever
