Rob Rides EMTB and at that price / spec it will bring so many more people to emtb . The review you did of the last years model was great too. Kudos to CRC 🤘
I've had one since December and can't fault it really other than it doesn't have the same aesthetic appeal as the specialized offerings. Looking forward to seeing the review, hope you enjoy. P. S as of last week the etube app now works so you can upgrade firmware and change the power delivery of the different modes.

Ps did nearly 30 miles today in 1hr 58mins (no rush was out for nearly 3hrs ;) still had over 3 bars left on the haibike when I go home. Personally without a pedal assist this mileage would be impossible. I'm telling everyone in my taxi how great they are and hopefully pedal assists wether emtb road or trekking variants will become the mainstream replacing traditional bikes in the very near future. I've had mine from January 2019, had a few issues, swapped out the brakes for Shimano Saints and put the large diameter 223mm Galfer Rotor on the front and a 203mm ice tech on the rear. Wtb rims are a bit weak. Dropper post giving out now and have a rebuild kit and put a Wolfstooth lever on it. Also MRP Ramp control device on left fork to do away with using tokens. Couple of other niggles but it has taken some serious punishment and the frame and suspension are top notch.
I have 2000 miles on my 2018 model only upgraded the bars and grips, just replaced a worn out chain and cassette but still loving the bike. I think I will try that new mode shifter looks a nice upgrade. I am looking forward to your review rob.
I chose this over the spectral purely on the threaded v press fit bottom bracket Worth noting the tyres are double down frt and rear which on an e bike is a master stroke The paint is shocking it chips very easily so invest in a full invisi frame kit I also had to strip and grease the frame bearing after 3 wet rides and there was no grease in them but I've had this with bikes costing twice as much It's an incredible ride
My first ebike was a 2017 levo comp. At first, I wanted integrated battery. But then I got a merida e160 800...! All of a sudden having an integrated battery means nothing! The merida is very similar to the vitus, and weight, geometry, spec, price are all far more important for the rider that wants more than a "pretty bike"
Hi Rob, your videos are very informative. I currently have a Bafang BBSHD mounted on a bikes direct FS HAL 5 in a small frame with NX components and 120mm Rockshok Gold and Monarch. The 3 lb battery is mounted under the seat which doesn’t allow for a dropper seatpost. Do you think this bike in a small or medium frame would be a good replacement for my frankintrailbike? Thanks for the awesome videos!!!
Going to be good to hear your ride impressions. They may be looking into having a shipping option to Canada. I hope they figure it out. I really like the fit and spec on this. Not too much to change. 180 boxxer and burlier tires and some saint brakes and call it a day. Extra battery too
Good vid. been watching your stuff lately 👍 this bike is a real tempted but what happens when it starts playing up....where do you take it for warranty repairs etc? mate who works at local JE James cycles near me reckons nearly every brand of E bike they sell are rapidly being brought back to his shop for repairs on motor/ battery issues. So whenbi take the plunge is it better to stick with my lbs for ease of repair?
Great vid! Ugly bike though, I really preferred last years model over this years. (The mode shifter on the Vitus looks great tho). CRC messed up my order, so I went with a Focus Sam2 LTD from a different supplier ... again, great/similar spec, but looks much better, and has optional TEC pack to take it to 760whrs. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on like for like. My SAM2 cost me £3.5k, so similar price bracket.
Hi, nice video! On the website of the manufacturer is a cheaper deore version of the bike. How does the deore version match up with the slx? What would you recommend? Is the cheaper one still good? Cheers
Hi Rob I have a Sommet CR myself great bike.I am thinking to buy E- Sommet but the cheaper version with steps E7000 for £3199.Would you compare these two bikes worth to get the lower specs or add £600 more what do you think? Also I am riding Large frame at this moment I am 183 cm tall and you are testing XL size How does that fit for you?Have fun with testing!
Hi Rob.i just saw the new 2019 Norco Sight VLT with Shimano e8000 steps system. Can you let me know any downsides to this system? Over the Levo? Norco is Canadian and designed for the area around here, Northshore, Vancouver. And the dealer is right here local. Thanks!
Good looking bike. However, I can't help but think that with the rapid evolution of e-bike technology, the the external battery packs will look 'first gen' shortly and not age well. I understand that they can be practical to reduce weight when loading, and the swapping batteries, but I think the integrated down tube (Levo esque) is the way to go. Cost aside. Thanks for posting. Also, I'm excited, the Bike show is in Vancouver at the Conference Centre next week, I hoping to see all the new e-bikes and see what's new in the world of mountain biking. I'm still riding my 2013 Trek Rumblefish! : )
HI rob I'm starting to look at eMTBs now for the future :) I really like the look of the canyon do you know what the difference is between the WMN and non WMN bikes all I can see is the shocks are different? Hey Rob...great vid......no question the bike is very good value for money........only problem I have is.....how do you know ...without having a test ride...if the bike suits you ? And I say this from experience.......you may remember...I’m the guy who bought a Cube Stereo hybrid.......don’t get me wrong.....a beautiful , very capable bike....BUT it just didn’t feel right for me....the extra weight and geometry just didn’t suit me. For sure, I could have put up with that.....but , hey life’s too short . I took a leap to the dark side and took a Specialized Turbo Levo out for a weekend......I rode it like I stole it !......what a bike !! . The great guys at Race Co where my original bike came from were conducive to a trade in deal......and I’m soon to be another member of the Turbo Levo club . The point I’m trying to make Rob is.......can guys like you get the message out to the manufacturers and bike suppliers that “we” the general public need more readily available access to ‘try before we buy’ . Keep up the great work pal 👍
Hey Dexter, I totally agree its so important to try and test ride a bike first. Becomes difficult with the Direct to Consumer bikes (Vitus / Canyon / Commencal etc). After a while you can get a basic idea from the geometry charts and travel of how they will feel, as well as the motor, but that takes testing a lot of bikes which most folks cant do. Reviews and other peoples opinions can help a little, but there's nothing like actually testing them yourself.
Online only so what if you have problems? I did and they refused to take it back because I used it once, after a BIG fight they did, which was a very happy day. Better things to do than having to box the thing up and wait about all day for pickup, wait a week for them to look at it, fix it, send it back, wait around all day for delivery. OMG what a waste of time. Do yourself a favour and buy something else from your local shop. About to buy a Levo turbo locally. Problems were, kept switching off over every jump plus fault codes galore. Don’t say I didn’t warn you...
It's something well worth considering .I'm a qualified cytec mechanic so happy to do the minor issues I've had myself for the amazing price . I think it’s a bargain too, that’s why I got one. What I’m critical of is the sales model. I think all ebikes are more likely to have issues. Mixing water, high vibration with complex electrics is always going to be a challenge. I’ve worked on bikes for years too, I was a bit lost when I got error codes to deal with, google search suggested motor needs replacing. I just wanted to say I’d rather support my local bike shop and in return have easier ongoing maintenance in the event of needing help. After a lot of research I waited months for the Vitus to become available and grabbed one on the first day. So I was gutted when it didn’t work even though I really liked it. Great to hear others working well. I’m attracted to Specialized as I hear good things about after sales and I can just pop the bike to the shop without hassle, but you pay extra for that.
Nice review look forward too your ride review thanks. I’m not understanding people’s issue with batteries that are frame mounted. I understand looks are important but batteries don’t like being left in the cold so if you store in a garage etc it’s a ball ache to remove the battery with a in frame battery.
Its a nice bike but I agree with others about the external battery. I would def buy one if they made it look better. Would rather spend £200 more for the entry level Levo me thinks. Paintjob is sick tho on the Vitus.

Haibike integreates their battery better so in that sense sure, Haibike are better integrated but the Vitus does look a lot better frame wise. I mean I would take the non ebike Vitus Sommet over any non ebike Haibike anytime ! But let´s say it´s a matter of taste ;)

Spectral on has pretty much same bang for buck!!!
Sort of, but this has 170mm(160rear) of travel with a 65 headtube angle and longer reach, so this is a way more capable bike for the money
Yeah similar. But different tool for the job. More trail than enduro. But still great value nonetheless.
The rear suspension isn't quite the 160 advertised it's more 155 but God I'm being picky .I love mine and it absolutely flies
