- Today, exactly 20 years ago, the fight between Axel Schulz and I took place.in the home-country of my opponent - Germany. It was for the European Championships.
After 8 rounds I had won by TKO. With my victory on this September 25, 1999, my ascent as a professional began and the two "Klitschkos" started to be recognized in the heavyweight division - above all in Germany. Axel Schulz stepped down from boxing, after this defeat.

Жаль, что реванша с Джошуа не было. Я уверен, что Владимир бы его уничтожил.В бою с Руизом у Джошуа точно так же от страха бегали глазки, как после нокдауна от Владимира. Не умоляя его достоинств, хочу сказать, что он раздутая и распиаренная "звезда, любой из молодых братьев Кличко не провозился бы с ним дольше 3-х раундов!

I am happy to see two gentlemen, who are boxers and are paid to hurt their opponent, treat each other with respect. Dr. Wladimir Klitschko is number 4 best heavyweight of all time for me. He has the third longest consecutive title defences, second longest title reign, and a two time heavyweight champion. Axel Schulz is a brave warrior and should be Germany’s second heavyweight champion after Max Schmeling. Boxing can be quite funny sometimes. Nonetheless happy to see true sportsmanship in both men. I just wish trash talk can come to an end.

Иван Кулеша Неправильно трактуешь событие. Шульц на то время был сильнейшим немецким супертяжем и кажется шел без поражений. Да против Володи он не устоял. Ну так против Клычка-молодшого не устояло еще 64 бойца из 65! И что? Для немцев Шульц был легендой. А Володя выступал от имени немецкой промоутерской кампании поэтому был смысл в поединке. Люди остались приятелями. Это трогательно и приятно!!
