Great questions for pub quizzes: what is the name of C? Double points if you know Karla's real name. M? Q? The undiscovered other mole? Karla laid false trails by suppressing files of no value to him so Circus would chase red herrings and allowing Circus to know files that were valuable but could be sac rificed to show Circus it was on the right track. Look at how he left the swiss based couriers.
In nowhere Control's or Karla's names are revealed...So in short, rather than M and Q (from James Bond most likely), most probably C ( as has always been for control) and K for his counterpart.. But let's look at the Author's gift to us with all of his treasures that he has left us with... To this date, we still love to read, listen and watch the movies based on his novels! LOVE HIS WORKS.
SPOILER ( comment on the ending)! .. so Jerry was an actual traitor. And for a second time, George ended up ousted. I have not read the books . But I think this sets up Smileys People chronologically. ? I always have an image of Guinness when I listen to these . ❤
Not so much a traitor, but more of a fool. A hopeless romantic who lost his shot over a girl he just met. That’s why the story doesn’t really work for me. That and LeCarre’s constant need to preen and act like the Americans are all fools and the Brits the true intelligence service.
@@matthewgabbard6415 OK, cool thanks I get it. But even as being an American, I don’t have a problem with any author promoting his or her Nationalistic slant. Think about it would you rather be watching Matt Helms movies or James Bond movies? Lol.
@@matthewgabbard6415It's the Brits who get screwed, It's the Brits who fail. I really don't get your comment. But then again, maybe I'm just an American Fool. One sees what one wants to see.
Maybe they used Mickey Rooney. Reminiscent of Mickey Rooney's Mr. Yumiosi in Breakfast at Tiffany's; the only difference is the British/Chinese aa opposed to American/Chinese.
Le Carre churning out 2 nd rate stuff. Same old ..same old. MI 6 as a cosy club for ex public schoolboys . Moles. Karla . The Circus..blah.blah.blah...yawn !
If you disagree with any of the points / criticism I make then feel free to refute them . Rather than generalised whining .I assume you loll around in your armchair , drooling slightly and simply taking in everything you hear irrespective of merit .? This IS 2 nd rate stuff filled with the usual LeCarre cliches.

Nothing against Vaughan, but all I hear is the genial Harry Grout 😂
Yup. That's Grouty alright.
Do you have Smiley's People with Bernard Hepton as Smiley?
Thank you!
Thank you
Thank you, an afternoon of BBC radio drama. I enjoyed the play and loved the voices. Perhaps one of the accents could have been better. 😊

I've just finished the book. And...Gosh, why did he do that ? Couldn't he just run away with her ?

@ws768 the nonsensical voice of someone one sandwich short of a picnic.
Old boy. Sport!
Core, pips, the lot.
Jerry is one of my many favourite creations of JlC, Charlie Marshall and Craw being two others, your eminence.

Hi Ozzy. Stay tuned in, there might be something you like in a future upload instead 🙂

Love Connie. So smart. Is she in love with George⁉️ What a couple. Oh well, men love pretty women to their utter degradation.
Huh? Nuts for the vast majority.
Old Jerry was a bit of a flake wasn’t he? Who loses their head like that over a woman he’s just met
Yes he was, wasn't he?
Happened to me !
No. This one is all a bit too camp and "actorly". Not a patch on Tinker Tailor
@donepearce
Careful !! You're not allowed to criticise
John Le Carre here. !! His fans get very
annoyed...!!😂😂
@@2msvalkyrie529 Wouldn't dream of criticising Le Carre. This bunch of thesps though - bleh.
Voices are way overdone.
The accents are hilariously bad , especially the Chinese:)
oh my word!
the "Chinese" is sickingly bad 🤢🤮

I say, old man, steady on... I went to school with, Le Carre... Splendid fellow.
I listen to a lot of radio plays here on UA-cam and often see your comments posted. A genuine question. Do you ever like anything you listen to?

Don't listen then. Return to your Beyonces and other rubbish that seems to be in today's world of no taste.
