    Love my new Swift Cruiser 15.9 I bought at end of year Swift sale this year. I also fell i love with it from Killarney Outfitters rental. Gonna explore Algonquin next year Ken. Thanks for video adventure share.

      I would say that Killarney is probably the best place in the world to test the Cruiser! It's awesome that Killarney Outfitters has them to rent.

    I spent a few weekends and one full week on Stratton and St Andrews Lakes in 1993 (also High Falls, Ooze Lake, Opalescent Lake, and the Barron River Canyon). It was a real pleasure to see trains in that area for the last time. My sisters and parents love taking their kids/grandkids there to this day, but memories of that summer of '93 are still a treasure.

    Just did a two nighter in my 14.8. So nice. Also found some great spots. Crowds are gone after Labor Day.
    I leave my paddle in one piece and tie it under the thwarts. I also take along a bent shaft for a back up and for variety. I tie it to the handle and front thwart. I use the big plastic twist ties, so no knots necessary.

      Coming from a Kayak background I have always gravitate to the Swift Pack boats but living in the middle of the US never met anyone with one. What is your thoughts on pack boats in general if you dont mind me asking?

    • @nunyabidness3075
      @nunyabidness3075 8 місяців тому +1

      @@kevchard5214 My favorite type of boat for protected water by far. I’ve been up to class 3 without airbags which is really beyond my skill level, but we had a guide who showed us the perfect line. Boat handled it fine, but I think a kayak would be better for that, and for larger lakes when the swells get high. I’ve paddled my cruiser in foot high swells, but it wasn’t any fun.
      The Cruiser 14’8 is a little small for Ken who is a little shorter and heavier than me. I’m older and have lost a lot of muscle. Anything more than a days worth of stuff, and it slows a good bit. If you are over 185, and plan to carry gear, or just want to go faster, look at the next size up. If you have a dog, and like to carry a lot, look at the Keewaydin or Prospector. You can get any of their pack boats with their pack seat which is the best ever. Everyone wants that seat in their pack canoe no matter who they bought it from.
      I also like more traditional solo set ups, but I only kneel for safety. I’m planning to build a kayak for use in rough water, but it will only be a backup boat. Mostly I want to learn the building skills.

      Thanks: I am retiring to the Ozark mountains soon and ocean kayaks are not practical in rocky fast shallow waters. I will probably sell my kayaks and order a pack boat when I get there which is more practical for the rivers in the Ozarks. @@nunyabidness3075

    What a wonderful video. The music was a very good choice and adds a lot to the beautiful scenery!
    How is it this warm so far up north? We have almost October.
    But the most important question: how do you keep so dry in an open boat? I always get soaking wet despite the drip protection.
    What do I do wrong?

    • @PaddleTV
      @PaddleTV  8 місяців тому

      Thanks! To be honest, my feet did get wet from drips from my paddle. Not too bad, but not dry. :)

    I would like to see a video on finding and deciding on trips like this. Manly focus on safety, not finding damns, especially shallow spot, excessively high number of down trees etc..

    Classy form of waterborne hedonism. In that brief northern lull time between mosquito infernos and sleet storms, my generation was instead breaking our back picking potatoes (with schools on harvest break).
