My late husband and I had a huge unexpected thrill road tripping across that wonderful landscape. We had no idea that we would come across this, and I was at the wheel. White knuckle driving experience. What a buzz. Great drone footage.
We came from New Zealand, bought a car in LA, down to Phoenix, up through Kingman, and Las Vegas (again), and on and on, criss-crossing US. This was our third wonderful trip to your country. Lots of miles, lots of smiles. Every place we went was our favourite.

I'll admit I was a little intimidated going into this drive, with the call of the void on each side of the road, but holy hell was it worth it. Utterly surreal, like driving through the sky, and really not as scary as I thought it would be. The road is smooth and wide and the speed limit is 25 mph, easy to drive, but curvy and fun. I have dreams about going back. Time seemed to stand still, the feeling of being in the moment. There's something magical about the road itself being the destination, because isn't that life? And if only life could always be like this stretch, where the beauty of the journey is immersive, you can only go fast enough not to miss it, and you can see for miles in every direction, with profound clarity. Nothing is more humbling than feeling like a speck in the midst of vast natural beauty, millions of years in the making, still a work in progress. It's hard to imagine heaven could look any better than this. It's a hard thing to capture, but this video manages.

I drove this route without knowing what to expect, it was just back country from Moab to Kanab. Utah is so overwhelmingly gorgeous I didn't appreciate how special this drive is until I went over The Hogsback. Thereafter I referred to this as Utah Highway 12 of Terror. Looking forward to seeing this country again.

I rode the Hogback on a fully loaded bicycle as part of a Cross country bike trip. Not as intimidating as my travel maps indicated, still staying focused was important. Thank you for the Drone video.

I drove it twice and was terrified the entire way! I could never quite explain how beautiful and terrifying it was to people, this footage does more than get that point across. Much more comfortable watching your awesome footage! Great job!

This segment of highway is just literally out of this world. What superb drone photography too! Too bad we can't visualize this in 3D; the cliffs on either side of the road (with no guard rails) is almost like an amusement park ride.

Driven across The Hogback more than a few times! Never gets dull or boring! Thankful for the pull-outs; they weren't there several years ago!

We drove this highway in 2019. It is fantastic, from start to finish. Definitely one of the most scenic roads anywhere in the US. While the hogback is very impressive from your car, using the drone to capture this portion of the highway is a great idea -- you really get a sense of how perilous the drop-offs are on either side of the highway! Great video and great idea to have the drone follow your car along the hogback! Thanks for posting!

It is so refreshing to me to see I am not the only human that this road scared the crap out of me. I am terrified of heights a 6 foot ladder makes me go hmmmm. My brother in law who has hiked angles landing no dig said oh you have to take this road I was terrified. I think it was the lack of any horizon maybe no ability to kind of gauge how far down everything is you just know if you go off the road your dead kind of thing. I drove this 2.5 years ago and as a male i feel so inadequate that it scared me so bad. That being said I don't care if we have the black plague next year I am going back to concur my demons from this road on a motorcycle this time. We all have our phobias and had i known before hand this was coming from bryce at least I could have steeled myself OK buckle in.

Thank you for AMAZING drone footage!!! Just did it two days ago. I still can't stop talking to people about this highway. It was so funny that I was the driver and I saw more along the road than my wife who's riding the shotgun. She was so nervous watching the road, she did not enjoy the scenery as much as I did.

LOL! I had the opposite effect. Rode with two who were having the time of their lives, while my hands sweat so bad they dripped off the steering wheel onto my pant legs!! :)

I drove this last week after going to my uncles funeral in Utah, seeing the beauty of Utah`s landscape made me cry (ok I`m not completely stable at the moment ;), can`t describe my feelings on certain parts of the journey, overpowering. Everyone should see these expanses.

So what is it? Hells Backbone or The Hogsback? Always known it as the former. Either way, it's a worthy experience.

Hell's backbone road is a road going west from UT 12, just pass the Escalante National monument's border.
