  • Episode 32- Inokim Light 2 Electric Scooter Review- Best Premium commuter money can buy? So I have a problem.. I love personal electric transport but I am also particular about design and somehow just can't settle with a cheap Xiaomi Mi scooter. Well, this week I had the chance to get some solid ride time in to review the Inokim Light 2, Inokim's most recent entry into the crowded electric scooter market and at a price point of $1,300, is the Light 2 worth the premium cost?
    Thanks to the folks at Inokim for lending me the demo scooter to try. inokimusa.com/

    Great review! I recently purchased the M365 Pro which wasn't powerful enough to tackle the hills near me. Does the Inokim Light 2 tackle hills well?

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  4 роки тому +1

      It slows down quite a bit going up hill so yes it works but if you have a lot of hills you probably need something with a more powerful motor. I recently purchased the Etwow which has a 850watt motor, makes a huge difference!

    I have Just bought one and as a simple form of transport for local journeys is fits the bill perfectly.
    Light and small enough to put in the back of my Boxster for last mile journeys.
    I chose this because it has a skateboard feel to it and very stable.
    Yes there are definitely more powerful and more expensive scooters out there, but it does everything I need it to do.
    Sometimes we all get caught up in stats and forget what we actually need it for.

    My wife and I went for the Zero 8 scooter and so glad we didn't go for anything heavier however tempting as that may be. I think its a very hard to beat scooter and we have been very happy with it.

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  4 роки тому +2

      I read great review for the Zero 8 but 40 lbs was a bit much for us since there are a lot of stairs invovled in our day to day commute, subway, stores and so on so being able to easily shoulder carry the scooter was important and 40lbs would be too much for the wife.

    • @simonchurchley8088
      @simonchurchley8088 4 роки тому +1

      @@OWGAC yes I think it would be too heavy with lots of stairs involved. I think a lot of people buy a scooter with weight being low on their priorities and then realise its not very usable once they get it. Great to see a video that points this out and always enjoy your thoughtful work.

    Great review mate. With all the new scooters available in 2020, like the Apollo City, Evolv Tour, and Turbowheel Dart -- would you still recommend the Inokim light 2 because it weighs less but goes almost as fast? I think thats one of the biggest selling points, from what I've seen. There's also the Joyor Mr6 that has similar stats to the Inokim, and costs half as much -- but it looks like a regular kick scooter.

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  4 роки тому +1

      The inokim can’t match the specification on the other scooter, but it is a more refined ride. I actually bought the Etwow since it has more power, but the acceleration and braking are both jarring and my wife don’t like it as much because of it, if I can do it again I’ll probably buy the inokim, even though its less powerful its easier to ride.

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  4 роки тому +3

      There are no suspension on the inokim light 2; it does have pneumatic tires so it cushion a little bit but I think they skipped on the suspension system to keep it light.

    Great vid. My cousin owns a kingsong NS-1B e-scooter. It has a bigger motor, better range, similar speed, front and rear suspension plus it's closer to 600 dollars. Are E-scooters just more expensive in USA than Norway?

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  4 роки тому +5

      I think Inokim is trying differentiate from the rest of the e-scooter market with better build quality and their price reflect this; but no, I don't believe the same scooter would be more expensive in the US than Europe

    • @OWGAC

      Prob varies from drivers to drivers and how big your. Scooter is, if its small and you carry it over the shoulder with a strap I doubt anyone would complain, but if its huge and you can barely it drag it up the bus then its prob no.

    To get into my apartment I need to climb a long flight of stairs. So weight is key. However another problem I face is my town has its fair share of hills. No San Fran but hills some steeper than others so my next priority is can it climb hills. Range is next on the list and speed might be the least important.

  • @wizrom3046
    @wizrom3046 4 роки тому +1

    I'm glad you are leaning now towards a lighter scooter instead of that silly heavy boosted thing.
    You need to check out the Zoom Stryder EX, also has cruise control, more motor power, front rear suspension, solid tires (no flats!), very light, good range, folding handlebars, well built and attractive, and close to half the price of that Inokim.
    Sometimes a scooter is more about carry-ability and the Zoom does that very well including fits in a shopping trolley at the mall, and also has good speed, power, suspension for the riding times.

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  4 роки тому +1

      I think picking the right scooter is really a personal thing and has a lot to do with what your particular needs are, but I totally agree that carry-ability is one of the most important factor not often talked about. The solid rubber wheels on the zoom stryder would probably not do well in the pothole ridden streets of NYC but the lighter weight is nice. I think I prob filtered it out of my search since I set 20mph/ 20miles range as my minimum.

    • @wizrom3046
      @wizrom3046 4 роки тому

      @@OWGAC That's a very good point, it is about someone's personal needs.I really value the small size and light weight of the Zoom. Being able to fold and toss it in a shopping trolley is worth a lot to me, same with carrying up/down stairs.
      Re range, the Zoom Stryder EX has the bigger battery and I have seen easy 28 km on mine on smooth flat ground, and I never run it down to zero battery. On flat ground with a light rider like your wife it's around 20 miles. Re potholes, yep my roads and footpaths are bad too, but the suspension soaks that up no probs. I don't want to sound like a zoom salesman because I'm a Onewheel guy, but if my Zoom Stryder got stolen I would just buy another one no question, no hesitation. It's the perfect short trip city transport device. The brakes are not great and I added a rechargeable brighter headlight, but after that it's perfect.

    Try getting a tyre for the light 2. Inokim store London and Brighton won’t post it to you. Mines been of the road 4 weeks now due to a cut in the tyre, their attitude is it’s not my problem. Cruise control stopped working after 3 days and you’re be lucky to get 10 miles range, not only that no matter how many times you tighten it up, the stem and handle bars rattle about and shake. I thought I was upgrading from a m365 and it’s been nothing but hassle.

    Well, this is a hell of a shock. I put Inokim off my radar two years ago because they had zero U.S. presence and no plans for any. Now they have a b&m retail outlet!?

      I am less familiar with their history, however if they want to Target a premium segment, it only makes sense for them to sell and have a present here!

      Come on, you don't want to ride the Bus!! If you ride a one wheel, I'd say the perfect 2nd wheel would be a longer range electric unicycle. Short fun ride with the OW and EUC when you need to make 20+ miles trip.

    This is a piece of crap. I own this one for 2 years, wasted 1k+ euro on service. Firstly I changed tyre every week. After that I rided in the rainy day (the rain was not that intense) as a result = battery dead (400 euro for a new one)
    Then I was tired of changing tyres every week and putted airless tyres. After 1 week on riding airless tyres the rear wheel is bended and wobbly very hard. Idk how long can I use it this way but its totally not worth that money.
    PIECE OF CRAP! Don't even think of buying it, this scooter is pain in the ass.
    Not sure about other inokim products, but this model is clacky, fragile, you ride like a plastic toy, everything rattles, shakes, creaks. The maximum price for such a scooter is 200 euros. Do not even think of buying it, save yourself from this pain. Before that, I had a Xiaomi m365 - half the price, it served me for 3 years, for 3 years I spent 50 euros on it to put airelss tires, AND THATS ALL.
