Having the greenhouses is a true blessing! The difference in growth between the trees is amazing. We are currently living on a small urban plot but hope to transition to a larger property in the future. In the meantime we will take notes. Thank you for sharing this experiment.
I was at a historical home in Ohio that had a green house tour. They had bananas , pineapple ,mangoes , lemons and oranges growing inside. But they also have a team of master gardeners.
Morning Y'all , wow what a difference, we are looking into the greenhouses , maybe not that big just yet, but we are taking your advice on many aspects of homesteading, we appreciate your wisdom, & videos , Thank You !
Noticed you digging up those bananas trees in the beginning. It looks like they were planted too deep in the ground . Im in zone 7B (Tennessee) and grow three varieties of bananas. Yes and produce fruit. Im eating off a bunch now. You cant over fertilize bananas and they require a lot of fertilizer . Bananas is one of the few plant I know you can give fresh chicken poo. Once your stalk bends thats usually it for the bananas Those bananas on the bent tree are through. if they are not filled out by the time the bending took place they will not fill out. I plant most of my bananas up against the south facing wall of my house. growing them in pots they dont get as big as they could.
Hey uncle Danny. Look up how to cook green bananas Jamaican style. They can make a great vegetarian meal. This way the bananas won't spoil and go to waste due to the weather. Enjoy!
Looks good Danny...maybe by hot weather them 2 lil banana trees will catch up to the bigger one. Last nite was first nite for keeping the woodstove going all nite in the greenhouse....was 18 degrees this morning. In about 80 days will be starting annual plants for next summer. Happy gardening everyone☺
Only place i stayed for a while in the 5th wheel that I harvested bananas and avocados was fort Myers Florida and south. I wont forget that ever. They were full out in the elements
That banana outside looks like a Oronoco or (Burro) banana. They are semi cold tolerant. You can tell by the spread out hands and the angular shape of the bananas. They usually produce around half the bananas of say a ice cream or other standard Musa's like a cavendish.
Can't wait to see how these over winter. Would love to have some tropical trees in my greenhouse in the mountains. So I guess I'll let you do the recon for me LoL. God bless Shalom
👍Just wanted to let you know (incase I haven't yet) that I will continue to watch every video (I'm a little behind) but they are really cracking down at work, so I won't be able to comment as often. Please know that one of the thumbs 👍 is mine.
Leadfarmer73 has a video on how to push your banana plants to produce. They are in zone 8a they grow them inside and outside the greenhouse also. He prunes them quite a bit.
I wonder if the bananas the viewer sent are the little dessert bananas from Baker Creek? I'm just outside the zone where they will winter over (8), thinking a greenhouse might be just enough to make the difference. Don't be surprised if you get little pink bananas from them next season!
I'm curious...what do you think is the main reason gardening has gone so much better in a hoop house? Cause you are in a great area and have a long season? Also, why do you say that your hoop house is more like a greenhouse? Just trying to figure out if I need one! Thanks!
Forgive my youthful question, but it looked like your soil was what other channels may call "sandy" could that sort of factor be a larger contributor than weather conditions?

Growers solution is fixing to run some Black Friday specials. We are going to be talking about them in a few days.
Thank Y’all... now I get to learn greenhouse Nanner’s!!! Poppa loves em!!!
WOW that was an overwhelming WIN for the greenhouse banana trees!
You can fry those green bananas and eat like a plantain!
Thanks for the info.
It's obvious why you are so high on the greenhouses. The difference is glaring.
My bananas love the hot Florida sun for sure
It's called strategy. Know your moves.

I'm jealous! Our ground is covered wirh snow and you still get to dig in rhe dirt. Good luck with the bananas.

I've grown mine in a high tunnel with black water barrels around them
Bananas even at the stage you have, green as they are, fry them like you would plantains. Fried plantain and corn bread is a nice treat.
Amazing the difference in those trees 💝💝
ooh nice i'm growing a big banana plant in a greenhouse in April till weather warms up

And on another note, there are so many other plants to grow. I get the experiment. Its fun but ....
Oh and mangoes. Geez mangoes. Along the streets. Just people asking for anyone to get them. It was so fun.
Good morning Mr. Danny! You always give good info. Yes, i will be going the greenhouse route when i get situated. They help alot from what i see.
Oh yeah and I forgot, Jamaicans also have a way of making banana porridge. Check it out on UA-cam and experiment with the recipes. God bless you both.
My North East greenhouses grow lush Bananas. No other way to grow them!

The outside bananas look like what Jamaicans call frog bananas.

My outside nana's are 8 foot tall. Lost them to frost last winter but they came back in spring. Wish I could protect them but...
Have to protect those banana
They don't like the cold, especially when so tiny
I saw that leaf and thought man that looks like a plant frim jurassic park and rhen was like oh yea
Danny, take off the dead and yellow leaves. They just sucker the plant. ❣️♥️❣️
I’ve been wondering about that banana tree that the hurricane blew over. Thanks for the update!!!
good afternoon

Ours is a high tunnel converted to a greenhouse.
@@DeepSouthHomestead what does that mean, converted to a greenhouse? What is different about y'all's?
Greenhouse does not have high ceilings and the sides don't roll up.
I live in S.Florida and the only thing I know about banana’s is, they don’t like to be in the ground to deep.
Oh My the difference is stagering, green house vs outside.
Good morning from Western New York
Hi ....im in Western NY also:
Fredonia. Love our Greenhouses
Forgive my youthful question, but it looked like your soil was what other channels may call "sandy" could that sort of factor be a larger contributor than weather conditions?
All our soil is sandy loam.
I would take off the dead leaves on my tree that has bananas on it
Look like plantains not traditional bananas. We shall see.
