beautiful. i wish i had money. but after high-school when i get a job, i strive to be as skilled as you. in the meantime i can improve with what i have at school
I mean, idk if you'll read this, but I was always told to listen to music out of your instrument zone sometimes. It can help refine techniques and even create new ideas.
5 years and still probably one of my favorite pieces. I come back pretty frequently to hear your pieces and hope you make many more. Also, I'm currently learning Moon and really enjoying it. Thanks once more for such amazing compositions. Jordan
I've been searching for a solo for my UIL solo contest in February and I was so happy when I found out this was on the UIL PML solo list. I love how magical this piece is and I cant wait to learn and perform it! Thank you for making such amazing works of art and inspiring me and many people with your music
It's really hard to put into words exactly how I feel about this piece. It's almost as if it is pushing ahead. I'm going through some tough times and I listen to this piece and am reminded that everything will be alright. It's okay to be who I am, even if that's not who I want to be. This is an amazing piece.
What a beautiful piece of music! It's so stimulating but still sounds so calming and peaceful at the same time. So beautiful. It paints such vivid imagery. Absolutely love it!
I played this solo about 2 years ago as a sophomore, and I'm still obsessed with it to this day! This piece really made me fall in love playing the marimba, and I absolutely loved performing it! Also, I always found it coincidental that you played it on the Izzy Marimba haha
Truly wonderful music! I have followed you for a while now, you really are underrepresented for the amount of time and effort you put into these videos. This piece inspired me to write my first piece for Marimba.
I am a freshman Music Ed major at my university and Im going to try and pull this off as my first official four mallet piece learned! Just has that passion from someone trying to leave their mark on the percussion world! Love it man
Yasssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!! Love itttttt!!!!! I think you can see how excited I am. I literally listened to the first note then bought it. Lol. This is amazing!!!! I can't wait to play it! In love with the whole piece. It has a beautiful melody and your playing is fantastic!
Adam Tan, I really like the piece! It was really soothing and amazing to listen to after working on delecluse snare etude 6 for NYO. Please make more music, it'll be great to listen to.
Hey Adam I know I’m a few years late but I have to thank you for making this. A friend of mine recently played this solo at a competition and will be heading to state soon. On behalf of him thank you for creating this piece and continue to create these great works of art.
Havnt commented in a few but I have been waiting to hear this and I honestly loved it. Can't wait to learn it. I have to say you did a nice job and can't wait to hear more from you Adam. 👌
Thanks Adam, this really helped me progress Okay, honestly, I have only done four mallet percussion for 2 months now. But when I saw this piece, it really wanted me to push myself and master this. This piece actually helped me find motivation that my goals, even though I've started late, that they achievable. So here I am, 2 weeks before my audition to get into the studio, and I almost have it polished up and ready. I'm actually quite content.
I'm in the process of writing my first marimba solo too! Going to be performing it at an awards show where I live in a couple weeks, very nervous but you inspire me to keep playing. Thank you for sharing your music and helping me find the courage to share mine! 😄
Just bought this piece with the bundle. Can’t wait to play it in many years when I get a 5 octave. All I need at school is 5 more keys!! Great piece though. Keep it up!!
it was amazing I would love to perform it... if I had a 5 octave marimba. Congratulations on creating such an amazing piece. I will keep this on my wish list.
Adam Tan It fits in with what I like. I also like rhythm dance and ghost garden. Do you know of any solos that fit on a 4.3 board that I should check out?
Justin Seiler They are good solos! I recommend October Night to everyone for a chop burner, or maybe the old favourites like White Knuckle Stroll ahaha. I'm currently working on my next solo which is a 4.3 one so hopefully that'll be out in time!
This piece is so beautiful. I really wish this came out when i was still in school. Id surly would have loved to learn it. Good work man cant wait for the next big thing from you!!!
Thank you so much man! I hope you can still enjoy it even though you're not in school anymore! I'm releasing two new pieces over the next two months so hopefully they are enjoyable for you also :)
Adam, it's a valiant effort in composition; extremely reminiscent of the Viennese school of the early 20th century. Great use of harmonies in accord, very much vertically conceived (rather than horizontal plains of Asian conception). As I listen, I can't help but sense a venue of piano performance rather than marimba. All in all, keep on composing as your craft will only improve.
jim edward Thank you for your thoughts Jim, I agree wholeheartedly that it's very pianistic in its approach! I look forward to pushing it further next time 😀
This piece has an own message and thats the hardest part of composing a piece. It's made by an marimba player so it's sounding like marimba music. At one or two moments i think i missed the little explosion when the line goes up and i thought:"oh man now hes getting higher till the end" but then it stoped. Maybe you wanted a feeling of a little up growing melodie which makes a short outbreak but i wanted an hard upgrowning "kaboooosh". ^^' but at the same moment i thought this could destroy the inner message. I think its a very very good first piece and i think you should do more own pieces for the future. I'm very excited how other musicians will play it. Sorry for my bad english by the way! Keep up the good work! Greetings from Germany.
Adrian Golbeck Adrian this is fantastic advice, I agree that my piece sounds like a marimbist wrote it for sure! I did want to make it go further but every theme I thought of was so weak ahaha. I'll push harder for my next piece, thank you for the tips 😁
That was uh...PRETTY GREAT, I'LL FOR SURE THINK ABOUT PLAYING THIS PIECE AT A SOLO COMPETITION IN MAY! I want something the judges never heard before so I think this would be fun to learn (:
You could transcribe all the Cs up an octave, and the middle section would have to go up an octave but it could work! It'd definitely be easier than 4.3 - I don't think its possible to make it work on a 4.3....
Wow this was WAYYY better than I thought it was going to be Jesus I'm going to learn this this summer when I have more time. This is amazing I loveee it.
Thank you so much Jacob! The idea behind it is that for anyone a 'path' in life, whether it's school, relationships, work or whatever, will start off smoothly and then have some complications, and maybe it is your self belief or your love for something that helps you get over those complications and back on the 'path'. This right here, this is cute.
This is actually really good compared to other marimba solos out on the market. Would totally wanna learn it if I had a 5 octave available.
Thank you so much man! I wish I could make it 4.3 but cannot...
Adam Tan you should totally compose a 4.3 octave marimba solo sometime then!
1:22 me and my short arms are realllly enjoying that part lol
Not long ago we were messing around playing blue bird and ju hua tai and now look at you writing your own marimba pieces! so proud man :)
Wilson Ng HAHA BLUE BIRD YESSSS thanks bro 😄

Thank you so much! I'm humbled that you could get that much out of it :)
This is such an amazing piece! It reminded me a lot the scores of some animes like SAO. It seriously made me feel something!
SAO! I see the connection ;) I did write it with some soppy images in my mind so I'm glad you felt something ;)

Made up my mind. Going to try to play this on my guitar, so far I got the beginning part.
I recorded myself playing the beginning part.
I would love to play this so much, but sadly I only have access to a 4.3 octave. Is there any chance of you transcribing it to a smaller instrument?
Mark Kennedy I did try to transcribe it but it doesnt quite work unfortunately 😥 sorry about that...
Adam Tan Oh yeah, it's totally understandable. If I ever get access to a five octave I will definitely learn it. Thanks anyway!
Mark Kennedy I hope you get to try it! thank you so much 😄
Adam Tan, I really like the piece! It was really soothing and amazing to listen to after working on delecluse snare etude 6 for NYO. Please make more music, it'll be great to listen to.

Is there anyway this could be played on a 4.6 (low f)?
You could transcribe all the Cs up an octave, and the middle section would have to go up an octave but it could work! It'd definitely be easier than 4.3 - I don't think its possible to make it work on a 4.3....
Adam Tan watch me try and end up very disappointed when it doesn't work out.😅
truly amazing. I'll buy it ASAP

Bailey Kayser Thank you so much Bailey!
Incredible work! I really enjoyed listening to it.
Awesome piece. What was your inspiration for this piece? Why's it called path?
Thank you so much Jacob! The idea behind it is that for anyone a 'path' in life, whether it's school, relationships, work or whatever, will start off smoothly and then have some complications, and maybe it is your self belief or your love for something that helps you get over those complications and back on the 'path'.
