    For the newbies, Aaron is THE best reviewer of knives, outdoor equipment and clothing, bar none. I have the Lion steel M7 because you recommended it and it's a beauty and one of my go to knives! I own both and like both. The 45 feels like more of a camp/bushcraft knife while the T5 is a solid blend of survival and tactical notes. If I could only own one, and price mattered I'd buy a used T5. If price didn't matter I'd probably just own both. I have the K490 T6 on the way, just got a good deal on a used one.

    The Lionsteel T5 is ein absolutly great knife and with a secondary convex edge the knife is next level. I own two T5 and one has a secondary convex edge, nearly a scandivex and it's a woodworking beast.

    • @achimgeist5185
      @achimgeist5185 11 днів тому +1

      @@MrBlessed70 For reprofiling from V edge to convex edge, it is best to use a diamond grinding plate 140-240 grit. Mark the cutting edge with a pen so that you can see where you are removing material. The finer grinding for example can be done with Shapton Pro Ceramic Stone 1000 grit. The whole thing is freehand grinding, if you have no experience, you should practice on a cheap knife before tackling the T5 and it is better to take more time and check more often, as major mistakes are difficult or impossible to correct.

    I checked out the T5 based on your recommendation and researched the heck out of it. I find it a solid knife and use it around camp all the time. I do think if falls short for hunting and do have my preferred knives for that. The T5 is one of knives that gets laid out when choosing gear to go the woods.

  • @itywhat6499
    @itywhat6499 2 місяці тому +5

    Great comparison...I own both knives and they sit side-by-side in my knife drawer. So when I walk out the door to hike or camp I am happy with either one I grab. However, with that said as for the handles, the T5 wins hands down. As for performance, it's hard to say which one I like best. I do prefer a Kydex sheath as with the 45. I also like a dangler so I added a 'D' ring and made a leather dangler attachment for my T5. Lionsteel has just come out with a T5 Kydex sheath for $58. The spine on the 45 is about as sharp as the blade for striking a fire steel. I don't use my knives for that so it didn't matter. Overall, I think my T5 edges out the 45 slightly.

    Knifesteel Nerd rates Niolox with a max toughness of around 60.5 Rc at 7.7 ft/lbs. S35VN at the same RC rates 8.3 ft/lbs. Both steels have Niobium but S35VN is a true Crucible steel. If Lionsteel made the T5 in a better steel, I would have never bought my Ursus. As is, the Ursus 45 is my favorite knife. I carry it everyday and have yet to find fault with it. Mine is the DLT exclusive 3V version, so the T5 in Niolox looks pretty silly by comparison. If Lionsteel made the T5 in 3V or Magnucut, I'd sell most other knives in my collection to get it. But not my Ursus.

    • @greekveteran2715

      You're a marketing victim. Steel is literaly the last factor you should care for on a knife, its' everything else tha matter more.That being said, I'm not a fun of T5, I'd go for the way more practical Ursus, if not for an even more practical Manly Patriot which is my most used knife. Anytihng esle, is just collector's tastes.

      Nonsense. It is absolutely necessary for me to have crazy high stainless on a carry knife. My evaporated sweat is like xenomorph blood. I also work in a lot of water.
      So, no. I need high stainless, and I also need it to hold an edge longer than 5 minutes, and I need it to be pretty tough. S35VN is like a bare minimum for me. I like it because it is so balanced for my needs.

I know you didn't like the Mora robust because you always think about Bushcraft but I like that knife and a lot of other people do. But through judicious shopping on eBay I managed to score some pretty nice knives so I go back and I watch your videos and others that reviewed nice from 5 years ago. Id say the SRK-C in 3v. Everything else is just branding and marketing.
    Personally SRK-C in regular carbon steel is all anyone needs.
    What work around camp need a 5in blade.
    This is just more marketing for ridiculously overpriced knives.
    $200 for a fixed blade is insane. But fools believe all the marketing
