M4A1 (both 75 and 76) are the best looking Shermans, change my mind. All dimensions are balanced and the smooth lines of the cast turret correspond beautifully with the cast hull.
Not wanting to ruin the joke, the first five times it was funny, but it's not accurate at all, transmission failure did not ocurred in all tanks, specially the american ones, Spookston didn't even said transmission in this video, it normally occurred on heavier tanks, and some T-34s, for a long time the modern MBT'S had excelent reliability, as soon as the countries realized that they needed a MBT and not a tank for every function
Historically, the M3 was not bad at all. It was an interim solution untill the M4 was ready. But for North Africa it was a good tank. Against the japanese too, canister shot and 75mm HE was great. The japanese hardly had AT guns that could knock it out. They had few tanks to begin with.
It's was a good tank ..For about a few months. After that the Germans got used to dealing with it so yeah it was also very tall which makes it easy to spot

Because the Allies too dealt with a lot of comparable german tanks like the Panzer III and IV. Did that mean those tanks were bad ? No. Does the M3 being vulnerable to enemy fire ( like all other tanks ) make it bad ? Also no.
For some reason I absolutely love the Ram. I have no idea why, it's not like it was a better tank by any stretch of the imagination. I guess the weird stopgap designs are more interesting to me.

@@VisualdelightPro That was the general issue with rivited tanks. Impacts caused them to fly arpund the inside. I also want to point out that you said close range, but I think if a 20mm auto cannon fired at my tank, that wouldn't be a shrug your shoulders and carry on moment.
Same here last tank vs 4 enemy sat on our flag and took out 4 in a row with the 75mm Honestly if the tank had a proper turet would have been plenty good, was hard to aim while moving the tank lol.

My first battle in WT after unlocking FPE and parts. Lost all except 2 crew early on, M3 seemed to become immortal with all shots missing everything critical. Never repeated that lucky streak since. Still love it all the same.

The British loved it when they received it in the African theater because, while their tanks were sturdy, the cannons didn't have any HE rounds (and they were too small to be effective anyways). They had a reliable way now of destroying at cannons from far away as well as squishing groups of infantry.

Simply deleting a crewman will not result in more space for the rest of the crew. The saved space doesn't just get evenly divided up. You've still got three dudes stuffed in the turret, two more stuffed in around the sponson 75 and the driver shoved up front. The space that the radio operator occupied was likely just repurposed to hold ammo and or supplies.

I've often wondered if the M3 would be more effective as basically an Ameristug. Much loer profile with a little more traverse for the 75 but not a full turret. I asked the Chieftan and he said definitely more efficient for manufacture, but also definitely worse in the Burma campaign and other jungle engagements where the canister shot really excelled beyond even 75mm HE. Whether the lower profile making it a less obvious target would be worth it overall he couldn't say for sure.

hell yeah, multiple variant's of the M3 would be neat. that weight at the end of that M2 75mil still bothers me to no end.
Each rivet was completely welded in place which largely solved the issue of them popping off and injuring crew.
I was today years old knowing that M3 has a cast armor variant.

WT does offer different gun setups, but excluding boats this only really is used to equip smoke launchers.
