What a great man and a great interview Of course I'm a follower of Avi Shlaim and beyond my total agreement with his views and positions about Israel/Palestine I always felt he is a great person and can't wait to read his upcoming book talking about his family ❤
His book is now in the bookshops! Or at least, in Waterstones shops in London where I live. Having read the first two chapters, it's every bit as absorbing as this interview suggests.
Brilliant interview! I so much enjoyed listening to Avi Shlaim talking. This brings me back to the past when visiting Oxford and listening to his stories. Fabulous, man. I am definitely going to buy Avi Shlaim memories. ❤❤❤
Thank you Mr Avi Shlaim, you have opened my eyes to the history of Arab jews which had been largely occupied by the Israeli narrative. It is indeed a historical missing link which need to be voiced..
Thank you for this wonderful interview. Everyone should read this book to understand how Muslims and Jews lived together in peace and harmony and total brotherhood.
It is such wonderful readable personal history about his life as an Arab Jew whose Iraqi family were forced into exodus from Iraq to Israel after the formation of that place...Highly recommend his new book, now out..."Memoir of an Arab-Jew"...
Thank you so much for this brilliant interview. Such a lovely gently spoken man of integrity. I feel validated in my understanding about the creation of Israel. That it was created for East European Zionist Jews & that Jews in Muslim lands did not have the same history of persecution that European Jews did. And that Arab Jews had a wonderful vibrant culture. Amongst a lot of other insights. Finally we have truth! I’ve ordered the book and sharing his interviews widely! ❤
I was wondering ... wasn't the rise of arab nationalism in the 1930's as professor Shlaim tells, a reaction to european colonialism - specially english ? And also a reaction to the rise of zionism in Palestine ? Afterall we all know how the middle east has been divided since the famous or infamous Skyes- Picot agreement of 1916. If anyone would care to answer and or develop this issue I appreciate . Thanks for the video !
I never understand antisemit jew, it's definitivelly psychological. The position is never balanced. They turn their back on who they are. It's very disappointing. Is it guilt,is it a detestation of whothey are not sure. People who like those type of presentations are pro palestinian and pro hamas.
Mariel, you are beyond saving sister. You will be brainwashed till you die and you will always be on the wrong side of history. some people are just beyond saving.

להקשיב לשמוע ולהפנים את דיברי החוכמה של פרופסור אבי שליים ששם בכיס הקטן את כל דיברי ההבל של עשרות פרופסורים "מטעם" הציונות השיקנזית מהנדסת התודעה .
I have a question, in the Iraqi Israel war did the Iraqi Arab jew join the Iraqi army against Israel? I hope you answer it in your future interviews
They were kicked out with shirt on back.
