    I paid $7000 for the first gen Apple laser printer. 300 dpi and 3 fonts. But I made $40k with it the first 3 months, simply by doing desktop publishing for people who were ok with the lesser quality in exchange for a much lower price for camera-ready documents for offset printing.
    I’m not prepared right now to buy THIS, but I get the enthusiasm.
    Right now, I’m less interested in using one myself than I am in possibly *developing* apps for it.
    I do think one year from now, more of its advantages will emerge as first users start to recognize what it enables.
    Apple has spent many decades designing things nobody imagined they wanted, but that ended up becoming deeply valuable, even if in ways different from Apple’s intent. The first Mac was Jobs idea of “a bicycle for your mind.” Nobody saw where that would lead, or imagined Macs would one day be used to, for example, edit both film and audio for feature films…
    For me, skill acquisition possibilities for Vision Pro is enough for me to dust off my coding skills and add new ones to build apps.
    I’m still giving it a while to see how early adopters fare, but tbh I agree with you that it WILL become more significant a jump in possibilities than the iPhone was.
    Even while I have no idea what those will be 😁

    I did too. Same one you got (1 TB), pickup on 2/2. My face scan was buggy and made me update my phone even though I was already at 17.2, but I was still able to get mine and get the first day pickup option. I am going to create music production content in the headset for my upcoming channel. Kudos on your purchase/pre-order!

      @@diotitus the weak minded being can not see the future if it bit them in the ass. Crying babies will always miss their momma as she walks out the door to collect things of value for the baby. When people sailed the seas and many died for doing so, it was the damn naysayers who said I am telling you it is not wise. For the bold adventures that charted a course forward, they dragged kicking and screaming the fools that now enjoy the future they brought forth. Simple minds said it was a waste of time to build out electricity when you have a perfectly good candle without all the hassle. Why don’t you go live with those dead beings of the past and let those of us celebrating this day have our time in the sun? In fact, get off your ass and go invent something yourself. Something that puts a smile on someone’s face and stop trying to down stomp. You really want to see yourself as that kind of being? Like why are you here? Even on this planet? Give and do. Don’t steal good feelings from others. Are they harming your joy somehow for being happy about electricity? Or is it that you are married to the Candle Gods of our past?
      You haven’t even tried this thing yet for a second. But you are sure as all get out that your mouth is more vital to the conversation yeah? Like it costs you a few seconds of typing to be sure we who bought it don’t understand what we signed up for. We know we could buy all of the other Apple gear for this price. You think we don’t know? Don’t be a fool. We are the ones wanting to pay an arm and a leg to get on that boat headed to the future. And your jeers and sneers are echos of idiots who stayed on the shore and still hold candles to light their way. Good night to you dear sir. You know not of what you speak.

    It’s honestly very interesting and confusing to compare gen 1 iPhone to gen 1 Vision Pro because Apple is so much more established now via software/hardware. We have all the apps that are necessary so I don’t think they are necessarily starting at the same point. No doubt though that in terms of vr/spatial computing there are many years of advancement ahead of us. I ordered a 512gb model this morning and I am extremely excited going from Oculus Rift

      The AVP looks outdated already when comparing it to the shape of a Bigscreen Beyond or an XReal. Certainly for a 'good' reason to get all the stuff running inside, but it's really too front-heavy and the battery should be in the back like with the Pico 4 as counterweight. I guess they already have a headstrap that can do it on schedule because like it is now, it get's annoying too soon to be used as a display-replacement.

    • @oblocals
      @oblocals 10 місяців тому +4

      Price is steep for sure. I did order mine but def wish it were cheaper. Highly doubt it collects dust as all the collective parts are superb and the reason most prior products like this collect dust is they were lacking the years of R&D and Billions poured into refining every detail. Its only drawback is that it isn’t even what Apple wants. They’d love for it to be thinner and lighter, but the tech just isn’t there yet. My thoughts at least.

    • @TamasKiss-yk4st
      @TamasKiss-yk4st 10 місяців тому +1

      @oblocals they can do already a lighter model, but that will be called just Vision (so probably just without the Pro), but developers use this as a developer tool recently, they can't give them a device, what is only allow them to test half of the features (but removing the outside display can reduce the weight and the cost greatly for a cheaper later model for example)

    • @guycortesi
      @guycortesi 10 місяців тому +1

      Greg - I have been into tech for my entire life as well. In fact, it’s been my passion and my career. I’ve worked in the tech industry as an electrical and computer engineer since 1977 and have taught upwards of 50 different courses in IT and engineering and business at college. I currently have my own IT business as well. That said, I couldn’t justify the $3500 price plus tax and corrective lenses even though I agree that is an important tech product. You mentioned that you would have bought the Vision Pro even if you weren’t an Apple tech UA-camr. Over the years I’ve owned many first gen Apple products (Mac, Newton, MacBook, iPhone, iPad, Watch, etc). I’ve even owned the first gen of the TRS-80 from Radio Shack, the IBM PC, the Pebble Smart Watch, the JVC camcorder and VCR, the HP and Sinclair and TI calculators, the BlackBerry, and the Palm Pilot (and Visor). If I had a plan to develop significant apps for the Vision Pro or had a decent size Apple tech UA-cam channel, I would have bought the device. I did go through the process to see how the purchasing process looked, including scanning my face and picking out a memory size and was able to get one in my cart at 8AM EST. I even watched a UA-cam channel that lived streamed at 8AM as people checked out or discussed the process, just to see how much interest there was. A lot of buyers were planning to flip them on eBay for $5K or more and the numbers available on eBay right now are pretty significant with 1250+ current listings! I’m looking forward seeing this product category mature and will definitely participate at some point. There is a lot of interest in products like this, as witnessed by the 2016 $2B acquisition of the Oculus Rift by Facebook / Meta and the heavy investments by Google and Samsung, etc. Thanks for buying the device. It looks like you picked the same memory size as Luke Miani and I’m hoping you’ll partner with him and others on delivering content. I look forward to the upcoming reviews! I can easily imagine a day when shopping on Amazon will be a lot more like being in a store and less like browsing through a list of words and photos. I look forward to a time when UA-cam videos are 3D and just like being there, but first UA-cam will have to get on board with the content!

      @@TamasKiss-yk4st Agreed. It has been well speculated that by having the word Pro in this versions name means that there will be a striped back version just called Vision. Obviously any time you engineer a product this complicated there will be tradeoffs. There is no doubt they are already working on a less expensive version and lighter version. I know they wanted to set the bar with this version. I definitely understand the price with everything that went into it. M2 Chip, R1 Chip, 2 Crazy Micro Displays with 35 Million Pixels, All the Camera's, Mics and Sensors, Audio Tech that Rivals their best headphones, and the Billions of R&D in spending to refine this and develop the tech to make it a real product. Not to mention the software alone that is certainly an impressive feat. Anyone who thinks this is just Apple raking people over the coals by charging the Apple Tax certainly doesn't truly understand the tech that has gone into this device. I'd have been happy with all the tech and just remove the Glass and Aluminum that make it heavier. I understand their desire to have the outer screen so people feel connected to you while you're wearing it but personally could have done without that. I think even in a cheaper model, they will keep some kind outer screen that people can at least tell you are paying attention to them. We'll find out. Thanks for your reply...

    I think a big hit with this in the future will be both spatial computing and experiences. Think about being able to watch a space shuttle launch, be live on a space walk, being at events live that you can’t attend like sporting events, concerts, the president speaking, etc. between all of this, spatial computing, photos and movie watching, it will be crazy. Sure you can do these things on other devises, but the clarity/fedelity , sound input method is what separates it along with it literally being a laptop! Last thing. I almost positive that hardcore gaming is coming to this. Apple just want to market it as otherwise for now!

    How much do you think the Vision Pro will be worth in 20 years for collectors if one bought one for saving unopened in its original box? Because it has a customized fit will Apple be selling the same faceplate 20 years from now? How much is an original iPhone unopened worth today?

    By the way consumer VR is in it's like 5th generation pretty much just count each release form Rift DV1/2 to Quest 3 but it is the first gen True Mixed Reality Headset like the quest 3 kinda like how the N64 is the first gen 3D console despite being 5th gen game console. Still while much less polished the Quest 3 is a much more mature product atleast from what people have said recently about the Vision pro... So, it really boils done to at5 the current time... Do you want that polish that apple magic or do you want a do it all but phone device. Assuming you can afford them and you only want one.

    So for example, instead of buying a fancy desk and chair, and other gizmos that come with building a small studio/office, you could get a Vision Pro and keep your workflow while removing clutter

    And I think that the controls are revolutionary - you don't have your hands all around to control it; it's discrete and just the right way to go. The eyesight may also look funny, but it's also a really smart way to fix one of the big problems with headsets.

    Everyone likes to think that VR headsets isolate people, and in a physical sense they can. But many of the more and most popular vr games had been social games. They also allow for more realistic socializing due to having a 3D entity that can move.
    A zoom meeting is just the flag 2D image of a face, but VR offers a semi-physical space to meet someone and body language and movement.
    But now with the Vision Pro letting you see through it, you can start getting the benefits of both. Not fully isolating you physically and also providing wayyy more social interaction inside the digital space compared to a phone or computer. Plus, it gives more validity and another path of progress to VR as a whole. I hope it ends up well, and I hope you can get out of it what you desire!

This def is the first real usable headset for work apps. all the previous headsets have been "for me" a put it in the shelf and never touch it. I do feel if I buy this, it will be more useful than games. I absolutely dig the productivity setup with this and content consumption at high resolution, which has been what I wanted. Very worried about it being a gen 1 product for ~4000$. and if apple updates it in a year or two, lowers the price and gives a strong option, it would be painful lol. Still pondering and fighting with my "buy it" part of the brain for sure

    - Cellular service to allow me to discard my phone;
    - Thumb drive port for uploading or downloading photos or video;
    - Retina display (60+/- pixels per degree of viewing arc); M3 chip;
    - 4K stereo video recording;
    - 4K AirPlay screen mirroring;
    - Apple Pencil (or wand?) support for drawing apps;
    - Runs MacBook apps natively.
    - Space sharing, to permit multiple people in the same room to see and interact with virtual objects for collaboration (a la Tony Stark);
    - 50 grams lighter

      My guess is Apple won't include cellular service in the AVP since they want you to buy an iPhone instead, so at least for the near futuree they might have the AVP link via BlueTooth to your iPhone, as is currently done with the Apple Watch. For all I know, the AVP might do this right out of the box now, but I haven't seen anything abou this.
      Apple might put a USB-C port on a future AVP for uploading/downloading files, but as with the iPhone and Watch, I suspect Apple will rely for now on a wireless connection, using AirDrop.
      Your other suggestions are more likely to see implementation in the fairly near future, as in the next to to three years (maybe sooner for some of them!).

Ipads are still so Bad for real Work and the Data management is going to be a big hassle with the over simplified UI. With the Vision Pro it will be even worse. It will end up as incredible expensive VR Headset for your Mac. And then you dont need a M2 in this and it will be so unconfortable with the weight and the 2 > Hours of Batterylife.

Which it all depends on you and what you are willing to do with the tech and your llfe. As for the socal thing MR is really nice for that as you can double tap on your quest 3 then look around. And it was the first thing I did with my headset was play grab the menu bar with my grandparents their first XR experience. Even though I was the one with the headset and they just looked as my phone to grab the bar using the hand tracking on the headset and the ophone to see it... And working and commsming media also works great though I prefer flat for that a home. Though I might on the go over my phone and lap top be the Quest 3 is less combersum that a lap top and more easy for me to use then a phone

The AopleCare price made me VERBALLY “ouch!” But I bit the bullet in that and 1tb. So 5 friigin $K. That said, not as dumb as my December 2019 $12k purchase of MacPro 6 months before Apple Silicon. I MAY be dumb to do this. But, since 1984, it is my obsession and business. But I have no idea how useful this will be. And I surely will have to spend ANOTHER $5k in 3 years when they get this right. But, now I am SWEATING bullets waiting for the god named ZEISS to approve my subscription. I won’t rest until I know they don’t cancel my order from my aged eyes 👀. Thanks again for video.

I’m already saving for Vision Pro 3rd generation in 3-4 years. So I have that to look forward to. In the interim I hope to be able to play hundreds of hours of Insta360 footage in 360 with this. I am very excited to see where The Apple Vision Pro goes and how developers are going to use it. I think the best position for this product is between an iPad and a MacBook pro. if its only an entertainment device, I think it will fail. But if its truly as comutering platform for productivity, then I think this is gogin to be huge. Its all going to com down to the Developers. Making "flat apps" that run on the Video Pro will not be enough. Not since the introduction of the iPhone have we had a break out tenalagy that changes the way we work and interact with a device. I too and a huge Apple fan. I was ready to by at the announcement...but even for me it was too expensive.
