I am going in the military in like 4 years and this gives me a sense of eagerness and excitement. I want to cry everytime I listen to it. This theme in my opinion is right there with the National Anthem. Love this so much and can't wait to go into The United States Navy!!!!!!
Major funding for Nova is provided in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and by contributions to your PBS station from viewers like you. Thank you. Nova is a production of the WGBH Educational Foundation in Boston, Massachusetts.
I agree. Like everyone else's comments, this song somehow sends chills down your back. The brain must associate the theme song with the knowledge gained from the show's content. It also somehow makes me nostalgic bringing me back to my childhood.
Never watched the show, but Arte sometimes translates Nova documentaries about space and they still use the outro. Somehow, without having an emotional connection to the theme, I still get teary eyed and goosebumbs when I hear this. It's just so gosh darn good.
I absolutely love this theme! It makes me think of new discoveries, and lots of new information we are learning about ourselves, and the world we live in today. I enjoy watching the show as well, and learning so much about our past and what our future has in store for us
Same for me, my mother and I watched this together the theme still gets to me as she is no longer with us, the same goes for George Page's voice from Nature in the 80's and David Attenborough.
I always come back to this song whenever I need a song to cheer me up when I feel really sad about something. I know it may sound cheesy, but after just listening to the song from the “Caliou” Christmas special called “Everyday is Special Because of You”, whenever I hear this melody of the song from this show, “Nova”, it’s like the music is saying to me “Don’t worry. I’m here for you. You won’t be alone anymore.”
While humanity does have a darker side that must be cast off sooner or later. I agree that this should be the anthem of humanity's scientific progress, things like the Moon Landing, the Large Hadron Collider, and, hopefully within our lifetimes, sustainable fusion power.
ssddsquare you’re right this song is the reason I want to follow Darwin’s footsteps in becoming an explorer, even though I’m from the deepest depths of the city.
Hearing this music as a kid made me aware that knowledge (science) was about to be/had been inculcated into my brain. I'm almost 50 now and I could listen to this theme for hours on end.
The closing theme of Hi-5 was used in Hi-5 Wonderful Journeys DVD with Bloopers from Hi-5 Season 8 episodes from the Journeys, Changing and Wonderful Weeks, Also, The closing theme of Hi-5 was re-used in Hi-5 Season 13 onwards when the original Hi-5 cast has reunited after they have been gone for years.

US navy is one of the best branches of the military. Have fun.
I wanted to go to the royal navy but I can’t because of mental health issues, even still hope you enjoy it only two years to go.
1 year to go!
So, have you joined? If so, how is it so far?
Yo thanks for your service
I remember being 4 years old and watching space documentaries with my dad. Hearing it 10 years later, it makes me want to cry.

Patrick Frias AMEN! I just watched an episode & when the opening theme came on, it totally triggered me (in a good way)

THE most amazing theme song for any TV program, ever. There really should be at least joke episode on how it was conceived and composed.
I love watching NOVA. For science!
No cap.

so many childhood memories 😢
PBS (Kids & adult including Nova & Nature) WERE MY LIFE (aka childhood). 💖 People with cable don't understand...

The epitome of science culture. So beautifully electric.

This is by far the best shortish score ever written!

It's....it's beautiful
My whole childhood summarized in one theme song!
Too good, I cry :')
I vote this song as the anthem of humanity!

NOVA... EACH WEEK...A SCIENCE ADVENTURE.
It gives a feel of adventure, exploration, over coming difficulties. Something we cannot experience in everyday city life.
+ssddsquare feel the same

Sounds a lot like John Williams.

Composed by American composer Ray Loring.
I Want the 1988-1996 Theme, Where the Opening Resembled MACGYVER
Absolute goosebumps!

With pbs had more funding
It reminds me of a show about wildlife that was sponsered by some insurance company. Does anyone remember the show?
This is a cool theme.
Where did you get a recording of this?
Who is the composer?
Awesome. I definitely left a like.
Love this!
👍
No one is asking the obvious question,... where can we buy this song?? iTunes doesn’t have it nor does google play ;-/
I also want to buy this....is so EPIC
@RELOAD Official Unfortunately not! BMG brought the music catalog from the composer in 2014.
Every time I hear it, I whistle to it
WGBH Boston

Ray Loring

NOVA Theme Song by Ray Loring
My cousin was featured on NOVA...
cool
+Michael Julian (Legendary) Who? Which episode?
"The Forgotten Genius". Percy Lavon Julian
Wow, that's so cool!
that's amazing!
*WGBH sound*
Its like listening to some sort of space rangers outro.
It does sound like the “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” orchestra a little bit.
The theme of bedtime for 6 year old me
This and nat geos song oddly sounds like if the olympics went for a different tune (maybe its just me)
5 people don't like Neil degrasse tyson
