Imagine the officer was a real one. Police man: so you’re telling me that you caused damage, kill someone, and the reason you did this is for your dad. That sweet of you but we have to arrest you two. Farther; but they’re kids. Police: were not sending them to jail. We just going put this on there record.
To be fair, the titanic twist has a good concept: a wrestler so deformed by an illegal move that he has retained his dis figuration well into his after life, and now uses his monstrous form to attack other wrestlers.
The apologist villain is such a good observation. And we're seeing more and more of that now in other cartoons and shows. The villain hurt people and caused deaths? "I'm sowwy I was trawwmatizzeedd as a child :( " "It's okay, we forgive you for your horrible crimes because you were sad." I hate it.
It's a tight rope walk to get it to work. It's like a tragic villain. Take Kratos used to be a warrior that was written to be a Greek tragedy. Then writers just kept adding atrocities to a point where he's hardly worth empathizing towards. What are some what's new Scooby monsters you think could have made the list?
Or redemption arcs for characters who have either gone too far for it or haven’t done enough to earn it. The classic Disney villains didn’t need a tragic backstory or last minute change of heart, they were unrepentantly evil from start to finish, and could reliably carry a fabulous villain song.
What if there was an apologist villain who literally did nothing wrong other then wanting to fix a problem in an unorthodox way that others may find dangerous, only to be thwarted.
It was funny because we weren't even looking for that it just sort of came up as we were watching them. Any monsters in particularly think deserve to be on this list?
Not only the Cat Creature of What's New Scooby-Doo is an insult to the Cat People of Zombie Island, it is also just as insulting to me as well. I just do not really like it at all when the unmasked suspect turns out to be a really close friend of the Mystery gang, or a family member that isn't the black sheep. Probably something about that type of betrayal rubs me the wrongest way possible.
It's weird because it could be personalized and it's like the writers want to avoid any sort of deeper impacts to the writing so it's just treated so carelessly despite a former friend would become a criminal could really hurt, it's like when they made Scrappy a psychopath as a gag. Are there any monsters that didn't make the list that you think could have?
Yeah, the apologist villain is pretty bad at points. The only apologist villain that actually worked for me was Vincent Wong aka the Faceless Phantom since, unlike other apologist villains who did horrible things that didn't justify their motive, Vincent actually did his hardest to make sure that no one at the studio got terribly hurt. Sure, some people did get hurt, but nothing too severe.
It's been a bit since I've seen the episode, but I remember the kids behind the skeleton driver weren't shown getting arrested, but they weren't really given a resolution like the ones in the wrestling episode. We didn't really see whether they were punished or not, kind of like the one who sabotaged Charlie the robot.
@@ToonGrin Not sure about monster design, but for plot, I'd have to go with the giant Shaggy monster in the first episode of season 2. Even as a kid, I thought the culprit's motive to frame Shaggy was very weak and him making that entire giant robot in about half a day was way too much of a stretch for me to buy into it, even for a Scooby-Doo episode.
@@tnt1770 his motive to frame Shaggy made no sense at all; Velma was one of his best students, and he clearly harbored no ill will toward her and her friends, not to mention that they had nothing to do with his plan, so why make the monster look like Shaggy at all?
"So you murdered 64 kids, 85 adults, injured 648 people, caused a cruise ship to sink, and completely separated New Jersey from the U.S.A. What do you have to defend yourself." "I did it for my family" "Oh... Well why didn't you say that, you go take care of your family now. God kids theses days."
I think the best way to write an apologist villain is to have the villain do literally nothing evil other than try to fix something in an unorthodox way, that's how I'm writing one of my villains, a desperate trauma victim who barely escaped a world eater, only for another one, practically identical to the last one to appearand reek havoc, and now he has a chance to not only erase it, but also reboot the universe an take control of destiny to ensure everyone is happy, the only problem is that there is an equally dangerous threat out there, but the villain is so desperate that he can only see the option to save everyone from the same fate he suffered.
If I had a nickel for every What's New Scooby-Doo episode where two kids reenact the plot of a Scooby-Doo/WWE crossover movie... You know how the meme goes
In regard to the apparent sexism in the roller ghoster episode, it was still the early 2000s at the time when that sort of thing was still common in kids media as it's one of the few things from kids media in the 90s and 2000s that I can agree hasn't aged too well. But at the same time, you can't entirely blame Shaggy for mistakenly thinking that the roller coaster designers were guys based on their names since names like Chris and Terry, usually with alterations in spelling, are gender neutral names.
It's not even sexism. It's just Shaggy having made an incorrect assumption, being embarrassed about it, and moving on. He's totally fine with it after that scene. They were really reaching, and what they were reaching for says a lot.
Once again I call out some monsters being called Ghosts when they look more like some beast, statue, or pretty much anything solid. I do like the bright colors of this show, but they do miss the mark with how some episodes execute the premise. Like for example, the Space Ape at the Cape, I thought that’d be like a gorilla or something, but it’s a generic alien. And yeah, I love the Roller Ghoster Ride with its backdrop of an amusement park, but there were way too many suspects and red herrings for it to be interesting. Terry didn’t look the least bit suspicious compared to Chris. Oh and that Centaur, how could they not have the culprit meet the gang before the mystery ended? Velma was very much dumbfounded for that revelation.
I think with Roller Ghoster it'd also help with night shots. I think the whole thing happened in the day and not many seem to talk about s green fluffy monster running about.
Imo, the Titanic Twist had very wasted potential. Wrestling moves aside, he would've been more of a threat if he had spun around like a big twister. Seems possible in terms of Scooby-Doo logic. #toongrin10
That would have been very interesting basically taking a page out of The Frozen Fiend's handbook and let the Titanic Twist actually display abilities fitting of his getup as a wrestling monster
I don't think they are the worst designed, but the monsters from E-scream and the story is one of the weirdest in What's New Scooby Doo. It's also the finale episode so it even has that going. ( I would love to see you comment on the whole episode because it's well-something)
@@ToonGrin yes please. It’s also one of those weird episodes for me personally because I saw it on Boomerang/ the dvd first. It definitely had to have some weird airing time as well. Also it has everything right and wrong about what’s New wrapped in one neat little bow
@ToonGrin that's the one thanks! I saw it in the video and I was like "Ah I've just heard it how have I forgotten already I literally heard a few minutes ago"
@@amitysluzara2022 It is just a big bird. Nothing really eye catching or memorable. Shame pulling from native American culture you could have something remarkable like a thunderbird.
@@ToonGrin I think it was season 2, I do remember the title of the episode - A Scooby Doo Halloween. I also remember it had a Hong Kong Phooey reference in it.
Personally, I didn't mind the What's New Scooby Doo origin of the Mystery Machine as while it may have originally been the touring van of a once popular band, it was Mystery Incorporated that made the van their own, especially with all of it's gadgets and functions that I'm sure it didn't have prior to Fred owning it, lol.
9:13 did you know that he was voiced by Phil Lamar, the cat creature is almost like Cruella De Vil because she hired 2 thugs to steal and probably murder puppies, what is with that Greek guy’s face because he just looks pretty angry 24/7 who was trying to give back the bag, I agree on the secret 6 especially with the monster that has the Midas touch because they’re pretty useless and the apologist villains because their actions are very hypocritical and aren’t that justified Speaking of the Scooby Doo movies I have been watching the Negative 10 rewrite from the Ink Tank and it got me thinking about Monsters Unleashed.
Phil Lamarr certainly gets around as a voice actor. Yeah now that you mentioned it it is a bit like Cruella DeVil. The Greek guy looks like that for emphasis for a gag. It was funny when we were editing the video even I forgot that there was a third episode of the secret six. When we were watching it was funny that I just casually noticed the repeat use of the apologist villain. That's cool what is the Ink Tank?
Good choices! Didn't help the Fortescu Vampire was in an episode that was also somewhat of a cruel swipe at Disney's "The Great Mouse Detective", and Jane Wiedlin was unavailable to do Dusk's speaking voice (Kimberly Brooks had to pull double-duty as Dusk and Luna). And the Vampire makeup and hair looked more like something from "Justice League" than a Scooby-Doo cartoon. As for the evil Mystery Inc. clones, imagine if J.C. Chasez dressed up as Scooby-Doo in real life! It'd be a hoot!
That long haired creepy guy being in this episode was awesome! I miss his reviews of Scooby and other shows so it's nice to know he still is around just not on UA-cam. Also nice to see you added a monster from your favorites and let him talk about what he didn't like. As for me I agree with the skeleton driver and especially the wrestling ghost. I found it to be a cool idea when I was little but they are badly handled. The mystery machine one, the farmer, and the vampire though I still defend for having really cool things to them even if they are not the greatest. I also think for me ironically one of your pics from the best least is actually in my least favorite that being the coral creature for being goofy looking and kinda dumb honestly as well as just being so odd for that show. I get it that a real monster is cool and all but ehh it just didn't really feel all to interesting compared to others.
I am rewatching What's New Scooby-Doo these days. Just watched the episode where Shaggy is a golf champion. They literally just let the mayor who kidnapped golfers (and two kids) just go on as usual. Some reasonings are dumb.
Sometimes, I think the writers put too much emphasis on writing the "evil monster" that they forget it's suppose to be someone in mask. Also, thank you for bringing up the Titanic Twist!! Those kids broke someone's arm, but it's okay cause they did it for their dad?????
I’m sure someone may have commented this before but I think the real reason Simple Plan was in that one episode is actually because they performed the theme song in the opening. Though I’m sure their popularity played a role in
I completely agree on the Mystery Machine being a terrible execution for the episode. When I was young, I liked the episode, but rewatching it as an adult, it seems more stupid.
It's a solid idea to take something iconic and twist it. Goblin King had the monstrous machine. Not only does it look better but it's way more demented. Are there other monsters you feel are worth of the worst?
Excellent list. Imo Roller Ghoster and Skeleton driver are both equally bad and worthy of title as worst villain. Both suffer from similar problems; They both lack any backstory or origin of any kind, both are presented as more comedic than scary, and both had terrible rap-ups. Seeing those kids and teen commit attempted murder, sabotage, property damage, and a bunch of other crimes [I assume], and get away scot free was just so disappointing and confusing. Both honestly seem to be a result of lazy writing, as both could have been decent villains if written decently.
I can't wait for you guys to tackle the Pup Named Scooby Doo monsters at some point. I can't tell if any of them were good or bad, they were just weird.
The worst Scooby-Doo monsters of all time by a landslide were the Creeping Creatures from Mystery Inc. S1E2. They were literally just alligators with the faces of the only new side characters in the episode. There was no mystery at all as to who they actually were. The people literally wore masks of their own faces and alligator suits.
To add further insult to injury after the centaur crashes into the entrance and reveals the entrance to Atlantis everyone decides it's just unaccessible you'd think the two that turned each other and chased the all through out Grace would at least to go inside if entrance at least craved in that made sense
I like the origin. I don't like it when in fan works iconic elements of the show that didn't hold that much meaning in-universe are suddenly super important. The Mystery Machine has meaning not because the gang made it, but because the gang spend so much time in it.
Yeah, and really it'd been one thing if the kids did stuff like meddled with their tech. Say a wrestler comes out and pyro goes off but instead its more like they filled it with whipped cream or something, that'd be more better suited then attempted murder.
wow i guess it was because i grew up on these what's new episodes that every one of these villains feels so nostalgic to me that i didn't even think to understand some of these criticisms. i get some of them, but i think honestly that they capture their own version of scooby doo that looked at villians in a different light i don't really know - i just love some of these villians so much that some of these episodes were full movies for awhile because of how much detail i remembered like the farmer one i have so many memories of
Even though some of the Monsters don't look THAT Scary or probably impressive (depending on the Shows & Movies), sometimes the plots can be interesting, too
We'll have to see if and when we get there there's already talked about us maybe doing the pup named or mystery Incorporated. It's not even to mention the numerous other shows.
That is because that is Creepy’s least fav monster. Doing this is us showing his own viewpoint of the Invisible Mad Man to be an interesting counter argument to our own thoughts. And just to say he wasn’t #3. We don’t actually number our lists at all for the purpose that we want to just focus on our subjective opinions of each monster and not worry about making some declaration of which is better. So we listed them off in order of episode release not by actual quality of the monster with exceptions made due to pacing in the video.
While I didn't watch that much of What's New Scooby Doo when it was on the air as a kid, I think that it's still a pretty decent series overall despite it's flaws as it was the first Scooby Doo series in years since A Pup Named Scooby of which introduced a new generation to the franchise outside of the Mook Animation films. Unlike the Scooby Doo content that has been released in the past decade that only seems to be obsessed in milking nostalgia from the early years of the franchise, at least this series tried to be different by giving an at the time modern update to the characters despite still using the same mystery formula from the early series' such as giving the gang updated outfits (I think I recall seeing a Cartoon Network commercial for What's New Scooby Doo that was all about Fred not wearing his signature ascot) and personality traits such as Fred being kinda pretentious, Velma having a dry sense of humor, and Daphne being more chic. I kinda wish the newer series' and films could take more of an example in that regard from What's New Scooby Doo as while the original outfits of the gang are iconic, it says something when even Scooby Doo and the Cyber Chase points out about how dated their original outfits are, lol.
Simple Plan being in one episode would be Rocked's worst nightmare. Imagine if he watched the episode where they appear, he would have a meltdown and criticise the band's performances in the show for being cheap, and well, I guess he would also freak out about a Simple Plan song being in the live-action adaption of Scooby-Doo, especially considering how bad the film is already. Besides, he hates Simple Plan with a burning passion and him finding out that the band appeared in What's New Scooby-Doo would enrage him to death.
It was the sister purposefully taking down the rides because she is jealous for not getting credit and she was gonna frame it on her sister for the wrongdoing.
@@benzelwasington4059 it's really wierd because the idea was she was jealous for not getting acknowledgement for her contributions for the coasters but then her goal was going to be to get her sister arrested for endangerment...so like is it about family 🤣
I should also point Simple Plan & The Invisible Madman is where the most idiotic moment from Velma really strikes. Scooby tries to tell her what the Invisible Madman did to the Mystery Machine and she just decides to dismiss him until Fred discovers this while driving the van, the brakes malfunction! Now thanks to the geek idiot, Scooby & Shaggy are forced to carry all the musical instruments all the way to the cabin. Did I not say Velma is mostly a miserable excuse?
Love or hate Scrappy, him actually talking allows him to be more present within the story of the mystery. Whereas the Secret 6 don't have that. They can only be cute which makes them interchangeable character-wise and superfluous to the stories they are in. Just MacGuffins for Scooby to protect. Which Scooby already did when he was looking after Scrappy.
awesome video but i do disagree with a few of them 1. the mystery machine origin was badass and the look was simple but dope 2. the farmer monster was awesome with hes look but the episode just falls apart 3. the scooby doo valentine epi was dope buf should have been a movie. to clean things up .
You might also realize Velma's at one of her most ignorant idiotic moments in It's Mean It's Green It's The Mystery Machine. Velma probably did see the Mystery Machine drive away on its own with the green lights on and yet, she still doesn't think that happened. Velma is certainly disgraceful.
If i have a nickel of everytime scooby doo have something to do with the hex girls and vampires i will have 2 nickels which isn't much but it's weird it happen twice
I think the real problem with the Valentine’s Day is Shaggy’s ex Rachel. One minutes she’s like “Oh Shaggy I can’t stand to see you like this,” but when JC is revealed to be the villain she’s all like “I can’t believe you would do something like this, that was so sweet!” So he kidnapped people, framed your ex, ruined his career, and you think that is sweet?!
Next time you do a scooby doo count down and use the monsters unleashed game audio. Please use Shaggys laugh from when he’s doing the dance off 😂 always made me laugh hearing that
The Skelton drivers identys being two children really shows how demonic kids can be also how did these kids do this there geniussus these kids made a 20 foot tall giant bone monster truck and a working robot skeleton also how did they hide that thing wtf Scooby writers?
I’ll actually admit I’m probably one of the few people who actually loved the mean green mystery machine episode. All of the others needed to be on the list though.
It's not a bad idea with the twins dressed as the vampire. If they were working together to make it seem like the vampire was all over the castle it could have been neat.
I was so sure Monster Shaggy(?) was gonna be on the list but I'm glad he wasn't. Good picks all around, never noticed how many apologist villains there were in what's new but suddenly I'm retroactively annoyed
It was surprising how it just happened a remarkable amount of times. I wonder if its just a happy accident. Do you have any particular monsters in your choice that aren't particularly good?
@@ToonGrin, I know one, the gold monster. That one was just so pathetic now that I think about it. In addition to being another episode featuring the Secret Six (I personally was never bothered by the Secret Six, they were just there and I hardly cry over things just being there when I’m too focused on the mystery), the monster itself has a very dull design, despite being a creature supposedly made of gold. It’s only attack is the ability to just encase the victims into becoming gold statues, which is a good concept to be honest but not when attached to such a dull creature. The gold monster is also notable for being so pathetically weak that he’s easily caught just by being so distracted by a key card he was searching for all this time. I remember this exchange between him and Shaggy once his dastardly plans were revealed “Right, 14 Carot is still gold.” “He’s fine, sir! It’s a gold variation of the shutdown goo, sir! It peels right off (meanwhile Shaggy peels off the gold from the puppy), Sir!” You mean to tell me that all this time, the people who got goldified could’ve been released from their imprisonment but nobody knew how until now? In all honesty, the only parts of the episode I even remember are the aforementioned scene, the scene where the puppy becomes a gold statue in the first place, the scene where the army inspect the gang (ironic) and discover Scooby’s ‘in-case of emergency stash’ as Shaggy puts it, and the ending where Scooby dresses as a sergeant singing his own name. You know an episode is bad when you barely remember anything about it. Gold monster fails as a scary monster in my eyes..
I’m confused what is the invisible Mad Man on your best what’s new Monster list and about apologetic villains and villains who we don’t get development for yeah that’s a problem that’s been happening since the first show the headless specter and Charlie the robot have that problem What are the best episodes in my opinion the the camp episode has an apologetic villain and the only reason we don’t mine is because the person she’s trying to stop you’re such a big jerk and the problem is who knows how much money from the camp he spend on this stuff that she’s protesting against how the only series I think of that doesn’t have apologetic villainess is mystery Inc. and that’s only because of its darker Atmosphere
The Invisible Mad Man is specifically a Worst What's New monster for That Long Haired Creepy Guy which me and Nero added in to list as we thought the opposing viewpoints between lists would create good talking points. Because even with a clear disagreement between us it doesn't negate either sides thoughts on the episode and allowed for fun discussion in writing the episode. Agree or disagree with our lists, either way we just want to foster people feeling okay to share their thoughts.
@@ToonGrin gotcha but what about the other point that apologetic villains and villains you don’t get that much development have been around since the Time of where are you Scooby Doo
@@ajerjavec4723 As for that point there definitely has always been Apologetic Villains but in What's News case it's not about that they are the one's to create the very apologist villain, it's that the show has a very terrible habit of overplaying the apologist villain and failing to make the case as to why they should be forgiven. The best-case scenario villains like this are one's whose actions actually don't affect too many outside their target, or their goals were for more noble reasons. Like your examples of Charlie and the Headless Specter. In both cases, their actions were very focused in certain locations and there was limited endangerment. Literally, Headless Specter only scared people away to stop people from stealing his family's treasure and Charlie was causing trouble while the park was entirely closed and abandoned. Plus the culprit for Charlie's malfunctioning later does appear in Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo actually arrested so even in that case the culprit did get punished for her crime. Whereas in the worst episodes of What's New, the bad guys will put people into truly dangerous situations and not only attacking the gang but random passersby as well like the Roller Ghoster, Titanic Twist, and the Skeleton Driver. Undercutting the severity of what they did creates an offputting atmosphere through the double standard it poses. All you need to do is compare villains who were arrested like the San Franpsycho and Gold Monster, two villains who assaulted, terrorized, and damaged public property, to two villains who weren't, like Titanic Twist and Roller Ghoster who also assaulted, terrorized and damaged public property. It's about making sure the severity of their actions doesn't overshadow their intentions.
@@ToonGrin True and about the Charlie culprit considering that many of the cameos of past culprits are from the era shaggy Daphne Scooby and scrappy in my opinion when it comes to cameos I just see them as references to the fans and don’t consider them important unless the character is actually brought up but what are the other point about many villains not having a lot of development and I think the problem is worse in mystery Incorporated
Faceless Phantom - Like the Motive the monster has but the design itself feels very flat. Not an awful one, but doesn't stand out. Gold Monster - The Powers and Design are Very cool, but as a Secret 6 episode they take away a lot from liking the episode Zombie Gladiator - Very minimal design makes for a standard monster. The descriptor of "Zombie" feels not used at all as just replace it with "Ghost Gladiator" or "Demon Gladiator" and nothing about the look visual distinguishes itself as that.
Good review I do disagree with some picks (like I love the ghost in the mystery machine/invisble mad man but hey people can have different opinions) The only monster who I'm shocked didn't get on here (since its my number 1 least favorite) is the Toxic Terror since if you take the bad apologetic nature of the Roller Ghoster and combine the blandness of the Demon Farmer with a dash of annoying kids (who a technally the monster so they count in this review....totally). To me everything about the Toxic Terror is god awful aside from his design which is ok for a muanted carpet.... who's idea was that oh yes in a show were we shown people dying already for monster backstories we couldn't IDK have a guy muant instead of.... a carpet. I mean a lot of What new's "bad" monsters are just really bland (like the Jungle Demons) but the Toxic Terror is just a annoying toxic waste of a monster fitting. (sorry if this got to ranty... I just don't get to vent about Scooby that often)
If you check out the best list we got the Invisible Madman on there. Creepy had an issue with the Madman but we thought it was neat. Def check out hte positive vid to see what else we got going on: ua-cam.com/video/_jFw6ZbiI3U/v-deo.html
I hate how “what’s new Scooby Doo” whitewashes Luna from the Hex Girls, same with the Legend of the Vampire, she was like lighter black Hispanic originally and they make her pale. Like fuck that.
A lot of the colors are bumped up. It was likely do to trying to make her look goth and that meant pale. It's a lame reason sure and a guess at best. How did you feel about the monsters in the list?
@@Life_Universe_Everything It'd be one thing if they just scared folks by maybe chasing and such. Nothing particularly dangerous but a lot of the time the rogues that are "sowwy" are the ones doing dangerous stuff.
How dare you disrespect the skeleton driver yea it’s not the best writing but he’s terrifyingly cool in my opinion he can litteraly pick up your car with his bone monster truck and smash it with out you knowing.
We might just cover every Scooby-Doo show but have to play it by ear. The truth is our UA-cam channel is not successful. For two people to have livable income as well as cover expenses (clothing, medical, food, program fees) our channel is just too small. So all we can do is do what we can and hope things will continue to grow and hope for the best that moving forward our channel can become sustainable. Thank you for the comment 😊
To be honest I don't have any connections with those Monsters. Not even the decent ones And Also! It's not the Yowie Yahoo's fault that could've had a more epic ScoobyDoo Movie, like Zombie Island and The Witches Ghost!
If you want a genuinely creepy farm-centric monster that’s somewhat tragic, Behavior would eventually give us just that with “The Hillbilly” in Dead by Daylight.
its less needing to be "creeperier" but more lived in. Like stories that make these things deep seeded as lore of the universe. Like in real life we have so many stories that lend themselves to such horrifying concepts so they can pull from there.
I think one of my least favourites "Monster" is the living toys one, i never really liked it cuz i could never make much sence of it, that and the golden animal one, though i think i just found the monkey annoying in that ep
Yeah the glowing animals one is a neat idea but it's not very interesting it's okay at best. The living toys is such a cool concept because you can basically tie that into Toyman and have it become a crossover with Superman.
I'll have to agree with some of your choices such as: Vampire, Centaur, Wakumi and also the Cat Creature. I also think Gusano Grande fits in this list, the worst monster in the series imo. Sad to see the Titanic Twist in this list, but I understand why is here. Great video as always!
It's specifically on here as That Long haired Creepy Guy had an interesting counter opinion to our list so thought it be interesting to include both perspectives
Ah, "What's New Scooby-Doo". A Mystery Gang era that lead my mind in multiple weird directions. The lady behind the "haunted" Mystery Machine trying to cross major lines while pushing the kids into becoming her claim to fame. Getting called out on that issue by the very ghost she blamed. Several of the others sharing the same prison. The 2 from that one episode in Italy not even making it to prison because their sabotage of historical records for profit enraged someone enough to viciously attack them. The corporate spy from the Scooby Snack episode stumbling across some forgotten detail from the batter monster's origin story, only to go through it herself and become essentially a snack batter counterpart to comic book villains like Clayface. Not really sure why.

To be fair, the titanic twist has a good concept: a wrestler so deformed by an illegal move that he has retained his dis figuration well into his after life, and now uses his monstrous form to attack other wrestlers.
Sounds like a ghostbusters villain lok

@@jbcatz5 Yes. I miss those days. 90s movies would send their villains flying off a cathedral into flames and we loved it lol
CREEPY! And totally agree about the apologist villains getting let go for something that'd get others locked away for life.
@@ToonGrin Wait a minute!
The Invisible Madman was on your Top 10 Best What's New Scooby-Doo Monsters, so why's he on the Worst Monsters, too?
Right? It's like the plot just stops. It's not great writing. Is there any monsters you think could have made it on the list?
@@ToonGrin Not sure about monster design, but for plot, I'd have to go with the giant Shaggy monster in the first episode of season 2. Even as a kid, I thought the culprit's motive to frame Shaggy was very weak and him making that entire giant robot in about half a day was way too much of a stretch for me to buy into it, even for a Scooby-Doo episode.
@@tnt1770 conceptually framing members of Mystery Inc is a great idea.
@@tnt1770 his motive to frame Shaggy made no sense at all; Velma was one of his best students, and he clearly harbored no ill will toward her and her friends, not to mention that they had nothing to do with his plan, so why make the monster look like Shaggy at all?
Also whare are jimmy and Cindy’s parents are they orphans?
"So you murdered 64 kids, 85 adults, injured 648 people, caused a cruise ship to sink, and completely separated New Jersey from the U.S.A. What do you have to defend yourself."
"I did it for my family"
"Oh... Well why didn't you say that, you go take care of your family now. God kids theses days."
Need to have Fred walk up and turn a chair around and take a seat like he's Captain America 🤣
10:54 by using only 2% power shaggy can see John Cena in the dark
You underestimate Norville Rodgers power. Being able to see Cena is a passive ability for someone as powerful as he.
So glad to see the Long Haired Creepy Guy again. Love his Collabs with Decker Shado
Right on.
@@ToonGrin I've never seen The Frozen Fiend wrestle, besides he only used his hockey stick as a weapon to fight and attack people.
I don't think they are the worst designed, but the monsters from E-scream and the story is one of the weirdest in What's New Scooby Doo. It's also the finale episode so it even has that going. ( I would love to see you comment on the whole episode because it's well-something)
So you think we should do some sort of episode review?
@@ToonGrin yes please. It’s also one of those weird episodes for me personally because I saw it on Boomerang/ the dvd first. It definitely had to have some weird airing time as well. Also it has everything right and wrong about what’s New wrapped in one neat little bow

What's strange about the demon farmer is that we had a better episode taking place on a farm in this series, it was a Halloween themed episode too.
Did we? What was the name, number and season of the episode?
@@ToonGrin I think it was season 2, I do remember the title of the episode - A Scooby Doo Halloween. I also remember it had a Hong Kong Phooey reference in it.
@@azurai3934 It was actually Season 3 and the title is Farmed And Dangerous.
ngl, the possessed mystery machine used to give me chills as a kid 😭
Personally, I didn't mind the What's New Scooby Doo origin of the Mystery Machine as while it may have originally been the touring van of a once popular band, it was Mystery Incorporated that made the van their own, especially with all of it's gadgets and functions that I'm sure it didn't have prior to Fred owning it, lol.
I guess it just feels like it has unnecessary steps for no real reason.
9:13 did you know that he was voiced by Phil Lamar, the cat creature is almost like Cruella De Vil because she hired 2 thugs to steal and probably murder puppies, what is with that Greek guy’s face because he just looks pretty angry 24/7 who was trying to give back the bag, I agree on the secret 6 especially with the monster that has the Midas touch because they’re pretty useless and the apologist villains because their actions are very hypocritical and aren’t that justified
Speaking of the Scooby Doo movies I have been watching the Negative 10 rewrite from the Ink Tank and it got me thinking about Monsters Unleashed.
@@ToonGrin it’s another UA-cam channel
@@srstriker6420 is Ink Tank any good?
@@ToonGrin yeah I enjoy that negative 10 rewrite but with one little nitpick but I’ll hold on to that when you see it.
Was it a swipe at the Great Mouse Detective? Never caught that could you elaborate?
I actually like the vampire 😔😔
The Coral Creature is indeed goofy but is also pretty cool being a large real creature.
@@ToonGrin I guess that's true

I am rewatching What's New Scooby-Doo these days. Just watched the episode where Shaggy is a golf champion. They literally just let the mayor who kidnapped golfers (and two kids) just go on as usual. Some reasonings are dumb.
Its kind of neat they remembered Shaggy is the team jock so they have him do different sports.
Sometimes, I think the writers put too much emphasis on writing the "evil monster" that they forget it's suppose to be someone in mask. Also, thank you for bringing up the Titanic Twist!! Those kids broke someone's arm, but it's okay cause they did it for their dad?????
Power of love beats a stint in juvey I guess.
10:44 no! you shut up!! Funny part

Your welcome
I’m sure someone may have commented this before but I think the real reason Simple Plan was in that one episode is actually because they performed the theme song in the opening. Though I’m sure their popularity played a role in
Fred said that he wanted to paint the Mystery Machine red....I wonder if that was a reference to the red van Shaggy drove in the Ghoul School....🤔
Or Thirteen Ghosts.
@@ToonGrin the possessed animals from when they went on a safari. Honestly, that was one episode of What's New Scooby-Doo that actually bored me.
@@thephantomsplit Its a neat idea but its also just sort of a nothing idea.
@@ToonGrin exactly! And out of all the What's New episodes, it's the most boring.
@@thephantomsplit an boring might be one of the biggest transgressions a form of entertainment can commit.
Could be all 3?
The worst Scooby-Doo monsters of all time by a landslide were the Creeping Creatures from Mystery Inc. S1E2. They were literally just alligators with the faces of the only new side characters in the episode. There was no mystery at all as to who they actually were. The people literally wore masks of their own faces and alligator suits.
That honestly sounds pretty terrible.
To add further insult to injury after the centaur crashes into the entrance and reveals the entrance to Atlantis everyone decides it's just unaccessible you'd think the two that turned each other and chased the all through out Grace would at least to go inside if entrance at least craved in that made sense
Simple plan did the intro for the series, thats why they did an episode, not because of their at the time fame
I have a request: Can you also make 'Worst and Best Scooby-Doo Show' list later on?
You mean just like all the different shows?
Maybe a tier list could work.
I like the origin. I don't like it when in fan works iconic elements of the show that didn't hold that much meaning in-universe are suddenly super important.
The Mystery Machine has meaning not because the gang made it, but because the gang spend so much time in it.
Just doesn't connect with us.
Really prefer the Mystery Inc angle with them being involved in the look of the vehicle.
*”OOPSY DOOPSY OOPSY RACISM”*
Ok seeing the titanic twist cut the one guys zip and falls to the ring i cringed thinking about how that's Owen Hart fell to his death
Yeah, and really it'd been one thing if the kids did stuff like meddled with their tech. Say a wrestler comes out and pyro goes off but instead its more like they filled it with whipped cream or something, that'd be more better suited then attempted murder.
wow i guess it was because i grew up on these what's new episodes that every one of these villains feels so nostalgic to me that i didn't even think to understand some of these criticisms. i get some of them, but i think honestly that they capture their own version of scooby doo that looked at villians in a different light
i don't really know - i just love some of these villians so much that some of these episodes were full movies for awhile because of how much detail i remembered like the farmer one i have so many memories of

The Invisible Madman was #3 on your Top 10 Best What's New Scooby-Doo Monsters, so why's he on the Worst Monsters, too?
That is because that is Creepy’s least fav monster. Doing this is us showing his own viewpoint of the Invisible Mad Man to be an interesting counter argument to our own thoughts.
And just to say he wasn’t #3. We don’t actually number our lists at all for the purpose that we want to just focus on our subjective opinions of each monster and not worry about making some declaration of which is better. So we listed them off in order of episode release not by actual quality of the monster with exceptions made due to pacing in the video.

Thanks for the comment and it is a bummer to see their channel go.
I love all episodes it's my childhood
Rock on. Any monsters in particular that you like?
Simple Plan being in one episode would be Rocked's worst nightmare. Imagine if he watched the episode where they appear, he would have a meltdown and criticise the band's performances in the show for being cheap, and well, I guess he would also freak out about a Simple Plan song being in the live-action adaption of Scooby-Doo, especially considering how bad the film is already. Besides, he hates Simple Plan with a burning passion and him finding out that the band appeared in What's New Scooby-Doo would enrage him to death.
Isn't the idea that the rides were malfunctioning before, and the Ghoster "breaking" them is Terry actually attempting to fix them?
It was the sister purposefully taking down the rides because she is jealous for not getting credit and she was gonna frame it on her sister for the wrongdoing.

Great video but I cannot tolerate this Secret Six slander. I don't care if they're boring as sin, they're my childhood 😂
The bummer is a team of puppies solving mysteries is not a bad idea.
those secret service pups didn't really do much for the mysteries when they were in the episodes
They just existed and that's kind of it. They didn't even really help solve the mysteries. Just sort of bumbled INTO the mystery.
"They don't even have the benefit of talking like Scrappy"
Yeah..... benefit...
Yea the scrappy hate trend is less And less belivable knowing that They hate him Cause lets hate on someone

1. the mystery machine origin was badass and the look was simple but dope
2. the farmer monster was awesome with hes look but the episode just falls apart
3. the scooby doo valentine epi was dope buf should have been a movie. to clean things up .

I remember this exchange between him and Shaggy once his dastardly plans were revealed
“Right, 14 Carot is still gold.” “He’s fine, sir!
So, from these 10 monsters I have 4 favourites:
- The Invisible Madman
- The Centaur
- The Demon Farmer and
- The Titanic Twist

The roller ghoster doesn't even look like a ghost they don't fly they don't walk through walls and they aren't transparent
I’m curious of what you would rate the faceless phantom,Gold monster and The zombie gladiator
Faceless Phantom - Like the Motive the monster has but the design itself feels very flat. Not an awful one, but doesn't stand out.
Gold Monster - The Powers and Design are Very cool, but as a Secret 6 episode they take away a lot from liking the episode
Zombie Gladiator - Very minimal design makes for a standard monster. The descriptor of "Zombie" feels not used at all as just replace it with "Ghost Gladiator" or "Demon Gladiator" and nothing about the look visual distinguishes itself as that.

The Titanic Twist, more like the Titanic Twit!
Ha-gotte'em! high five.
To be honest I don't have any connections with those Monsters.
Not even the decent ones
And Also! It's not the Yowie Yahoo's fault that could've had a more epic ScoobyDoo Movie, like Zombie Island and The Witches Ghost!
we have extremely different tastes in scooby doo
That's awesome, what are some of your favorite and least favorite monsters?
If you want a genuinely creepy farm-centric monster that’s somewhat tragic, Behavior would eventually give us just that with “The Hillbilly” in Dead by Daylight.
its less needing to be "creeperier" but more lived in. Like stories that make these things deep seeded as lore of the universe. Like in real life we have so many stories that lend themselves to such horrifying concepts so they can pull from there.
it's good to see the long hair creepy guy again!
How'd you feel about the list?
@@ToonGrin pretty good 👍
@@gavinelrod6307 Any monsters you think could or should have made it?
@@ToonGrin the giant shaggy monster for best
@@gavinelrod6307 hahaha 🤣 really? Why's that?
Do video on scooby doo mystery incorporated.
😏 Maybe...
My pick for worst is the camp ghost.
Why's that?
@@ToonGrin self righteous murderor
@@matthewhecht9257 Yeah? That sounds pretty neat.
Why the zombie gladiator looks more like a ghost shame on you what's new scooby doo shame on you
I didn't even know simple plan was a thing or were a real band until I watched this
This video specifically or the show What's New Scooby-Doo?
@@ToonGrin this episode specifically
did you know scooby doo mystery incorporated
is a prequel to were are you? aka I mean the cartoon not the live action show
It's an interesting theory but doesn't really hold water when you realize the 60s cast never discuss the events of the past.
invisible madman was also on the best list?
It's specifically on here as That Long haired Creepy Guy had an interesting counter opinion to our list so thought it be interesting to include both perspectives
Most of these monsters are pretty bad or lame, always thought Fortescu was cool tho. Titanic Twist is probably my least favourite on here
What's one you'd say should have made it to this list but didn't? Fortescue is ok a really so-so kind of lame. Titanic Twist is just dumb.
I was never a big fan of the snack batter Monster’s design so I’ll go with that
@@schuszter4280 It is an ooey gooey nasty.
Eh, I still love this show
No one says ya can't. We even have a BEST style list to accompany this list if you are interested in seeing the monsters we like.
It does get weird.
@@ToonGrin Yeah. And it was so long ago that I don't even remember why my brain went for those ideas in the first place.
@@williamgreci8219 Weirdness stick with ya like gum on the bottom of a shoe.
@@ToonGrin No argument from me.
The centaur because I think it was the most boring episodes of what’s new scooby doo and also Velma couldn’t solve the mystery in it
Bummer too since centaurs are neat creatures.
They also had some creepy guy stalk them and all he said was Thélo na sas dósei píso ti chaméni tsánta sas!
JFC, guys, it's Scooby-Doo, not Sherlock Holmes.
Btw, you guys already put the Invisible Madman on the list of the best monsters. Wtf?!
That was a special for the contribution of our guest That Long Haired Creepy Guy.
