That is a beautiful custom 40 Mercury conversion. With the Cadillac engine. The hydraulics system. And looks like it actually could have been built factory. The way it is. Thank you for sharing this amazing car.
Just stumbled upon this YT channel. Like it so much I subscribed with notifications. Of course, been a TV fan of Dennis for many years! This Merc is top shelf. A beauty. Cheers.
I wouldn´t necessarily call myself "a car guy" but as soon as he mentioned Matrenga Merc, it pricked my ears up and I knew which one he was talking about
Not true! Now in it's 26th season, it airs on Motor Trend Saturday mornings at 8:30 am ET and weekday afternoons and weekend mornings on MAVTV. It also streams almost constantly on PlutoTV. But you can always catch it right here on UA-cam. Thanks for watching!
I have to question the statement regarding the license plate. There was never a 1952 California license plate made. It would have been a 1951 plate with a 52 yellow metal tab bolted over the 51 on the plate.
Hay wait... I seen this fabulous green car before as soon as you said the 8th floor hotel story... I love but I don't like re-runs... what happened Mr. Scientist? Do a BurnOUT!! (edit: hay wait.. maybe I haven't seen this? Carry on, Sir)
Completely new edit containing all the footage shot during the interview. So much has to be cut out to get it to fit into a TV ep, but on UA-cam you can let it roll!
@@MyClassicCarTV Yo, are you following the Large Hadron Collider and Webb telescope stuff? Pretty awesome... I know ur food chemist but it's all related, like making compounds is similar to how the elements get created in space
Yeah, I still follow all that stuff. I was never really a molecule-builder chemist. My undergrad research was in quantum physics and my graduate research involved analytical laser spectroscopy. I’m was more of a chemist/physicist hybrid.
@@MyClassicCarTV Oh WOW! I guess I assumed you were food chemist designing flavors, colors, vitamins and preservatives? I'm just an armchair interested observer in science, no degrees but I seen a lot of documentaries, NOVA, Popular Science magazine, etc. Quantum physics I have a firm grasp on thanks to Sagan, Degrasse Tyson, Hawkings. I was flabbergasted watching a stream the other day from the CERN facility starting back up and everyone was freaking out like it was opening a portal to the underworld on Stranger Things or whatever man, hilarious. They don't realize the Higgs-Boson "God Particle" was already proven 10 years ago and added to the table of elements right there where it was already predicted like 80 or more years ago with Bosonic theory being the blueprint for the math we used to make predictions about space creation and expansion rates and accounting for all the missing "dark" matter that even Einstein knew must of been there. I think it was NOVA had a great piece on Quantum computing where they chill the processors just above absolute zero (the conditions of space where atoms almost cease time entirely) so the thing can make multiple calculation simultaneously instead of being limited to just 1's and 0's taking turns!
Nice!!! I wonder how many people have seen a green telephone truck.
Me, one.
I thought it was an Army car modded even after the title.Edit: I forgot about the green stripe they used on the white vans in the 70's.
How anyone could do that is just mind boggling. This guy is a genius craftsman.
My thoughts exactly!

Matranga Mercury did it 70 years ago.
Amazing metal work!! If the engine is from an El Dorado, did the front wheel drive come with it?
Great question, We hope it gets answered. I would think it isn't though.

it needs eyebrows to not look sleepy
jesus why cant we have cars like that today...i hate all that modern crap that looks the same...
Its all about proportion, folks. Airbags ruined this car
Depends on what look you’re going for. His car. He gets to pick.
The plate story is false.
You ruined it.
I think you're in the minority on this one. 🤔
It got circumcised
