Very enjoyable Allan! I am looking at having a piece of plexiglass tinted by a window tinting gent. I believe it will make for a nice background as well as a platform that would resemble water...
I ruined several sheets of regular acrylic, trying to frost it with some spray stuff. It melted the acrylic. I found this sheet at a thrift shop - it was the front of an old x-ray viewer box. It is very handy to have.
Fantastic! Looks like a physics science project and it works. I’m going to try this with my new flash trigger and speedlites from Godox (TT350). They can do stroboscopic flash. I saw your cage setup for macro work and got the bug to simplify my home macro lighting. Will send photos later unless my art gets bought up by a New York gallery.
No no no. Last time I watched a new video idea from you I became hooked on extreme macro. I have built a rig and spent hours and hours let alone the expense. I refuse to get a hose...The wine is the only thing I might have a go at...
You mentioned a speedlight can also generate a short burst. Is there a reason not to use a speedlight for this? Sorry if I missed it! And seriously... nobody's going to call out the "loop of water" shot? :)
You certainly could use speedlights - it would certainly make freezing the action a lot easier. I used my studio lights because I love the quality of the light through a massive soft box - makes the water look otherworldly. As for the water loop... I wonder if anyone has actually tried to accomplish that! Without photoshop!
Hi Paul, Sure. I am using version 1.04, build T2020-04-04-1104-beta. The beta is completely stable and includes the slabbing software. I highly recommend it.
It just means you won't get as much of the panel in the shot. It is the dark areas at the edges that make the cool reflections in the water stream and they look better if the background is symmetrical.
That isn’t a toilet pipe lol. That’s a drain pipe for a kitchen sink. It connects to the bottom of the basket strainer. Not that it really matters, just figured I’d point that out.
. Great show. Very informative.
Thank you.
This was great, Allan. I loved your setup.
Thanks Stephen!

Well, that explains why my toilet is leaking! But seriously - thanks. I had no idea what it was.
