How River Plate Produce So Much Talent! | Explained

- Argentina may have lifted the 2022 World Cup, becoming the first non-European nation to win football’s greatest prize in over 20 years, but the country’s domestic football scene has long lagged behind those across the Atlantic in terms of wealth and resources, with the vast majority of their best talent leaving for clubs in countries like Spain, Italy and England at a young age in order to reach the top level. Their 26-man squad in Qatar consisted of just one player currently plying his trade at home, 36 year-old back-up goalkeeper Franco Armani.
But for a country to produce such great players so consistently requires great youth development, and River Plate, the Buenos Aires giants who boast a record 37 league titles, also boast one of South America’s greatest academies, with six of Lionel Scaloni’s World Cup winning squad - just over a quarter - learning their trade in the shadow of the Estadio Monumental, four of whom featured in the final against France.
Julian Alvarez, who sealed a move to Premier League giants Manchester City last January, and Enzo Fernandez, who joined Benfica in the summer and instantly impressed in the Champions League, were two of the tournaments biggest stars.
And it’s not just the current generation that has benefitted from River Plate’s production line. The club has a history of producing some of the world’s most exciting players, from Alfredo Di Stefano, by most accounts Real Madrid’s greatest player of the 20th century, to Hernán Crespo, who broke the transfer record when he was signed by Lazio in 2000, four years after leaving Argentine shores.
But what is the secret to the success of River Plate’s academy? On today’s EFD Explained, we’re going to Buenos Aires.

Di Stefano, Ortega, Aimar, Gallardo, Saviola, Crespo, Mascherano, Higuain, Alvarez, Enzo...all came from River 🤍❤
Echeverri, Ruberto, Subiabre and Mastantuono. the next generation is coming💫⚽
An idea for a continental club episode, focus on talent outside of Europe in South America, MLS, Japan etc
River Plate is the best team in Argentina
Team of second division...
@@clubghinoyt243 Team of most wins and less goals against, recent copa libertadores champions when it comes to argentinian teams. Most expensive and high valued club. Better players, more players drafted to National club. Most wins in terms of local cups, you don't know shit

The break down of this video is insane, the competence of River plate in naturing talents is very inspiring and a model to be copied for success
Often imitated never duplicated.. River has been putting out great talents since the 1930s
the focus on small sided football in youth development makes a lot of sense.
first they develop technique, then thwy develop the rest, technique is the most dofficult thing for a player to learn, pretty much if you reach u20 without a good technique you will stay like that forever
Don’t know who needs to see this, but if you do a fifa 23 career mode and want Argentinians for youth team, set to Argentina and select goalie, winger or attacker. Very worth it
What other country’s are good ?
the thing about enzo is that... maybe it was better not to wait.
River still owns a 25% of his contract + plus there another % they might get from a sale
With that 25% of a future transfer plus the initial 14 mm + bonuses (which I think was another 4 mm) Enzo’s transfer has surpassed Saviola to become the highest transfer ever for river plate for a total of €44 mm
History... I think nations that have a rich history in any sport will produce more talented players it is a matter of managing them which clubs like River plate do very well.
❤ River Plate es la institución más grande de Argentina ❤💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Vamos River Plate River Plate River Plate vamos River Plate 🤍❤️🤍
El más grande cada vez más lejos

Juan Pablo Angel too
Messi would also play for River if they didn´t reject paying for his growth hormone treatment. I think he trained with them for a few months.
Messi himself said he wanted to play in River Plate and that they were going to pay for his treatment, his club at the time Newell's Old Boys didn't allow him to leave to River Plate, and so he later had to look abroad for opportunities.

Argentina is one of the best teams in world football by Steve Irungu Jermaine
In the last world cup River had 6 players from the club, then the 2nd team had 2 and the rest only 1. It is a big number!
There are 3 argentinian players that won the Gold Ball: Di Stefano, Sivori, Messi. The first 2 are from River Plate.
The prize for best player in the spain league is called "Di Stefano"
River the best!!
Why not do the big 3 in Portugal (benfica, Porto, sporting)
you should do a vid on independiente del valle
You guys mentioned Funes Mori. He was with the FC Dallas academy before he went to River Plate. Correct me if I'm wrong.
there's 2 funes moris, both are from river's academy

@Nicolas Castelli i think Rogelio won a US reality show and Ramiro participated as well, and they did play a short time in Dallas Academy
Did you do one for Brazil already?

Benjamín Ferreira (7 Years old)
2 River Plate players who will be at the level of Messi and Maradona, remember those names
Boca has had more international success, but River Plate has, by far, more World Class history w players.
"in over 20 years" I mean, by a few months. Technicality for the win i guess lol.
It’s not just River. It’s all of Argentina
But mostly River
@@markaron9356 honestly no. Prior to this generation, the greatest players were from Boca Juniors, their biggest rivals, such as Riquelme, Carlos Tevez, Rodrigo Palacio, Fernando Gago, Palermo, Ruggeri, Banega, and Diego Armando Maradona himself. Even then, they still have produced players such as Leandro Paredes and developed players such as Alexis Mac Allister. And this is just one example of another team. Nearly all of the great Argentine and many South American players too have come out of Argentine football.

Newell’s old boys every 40 years when they see an undersized left footed Argentine: 👀
It’s because they actually allow talent inside the club instead of America where you have to know someone to be pro. 😂
Higuine? The one who lost Argentine the Worldcup?
Higuain is a great player but he no t have lucky in National team... Argentina is a flyng coin, Messi whith lucky could win 3 copa America and 3 Worldcup.. but instead won 1 copa america and 1 wolrd cup...

River plate didnt produce Falcao ... he was playing professional football in colombian 2nd tier 13. then paid like 500k for him.
and where do you think he made a name for himself to be able to move on to Europe...?
@@antoviamonte3429 that is not the point. They are trying to say river plate produced him which is incorrect
that's stupid, he joined river on 2000 and developed himself for 5 years on the river plate academy to finally start playing on the 2005/2006 season
