This song has nothing to do with chinese, unless we are talking about the background of it. After chinese refugees fed to Taiwan with their tails between their legs in 1949 while they were losing their civil war to their commie cousins, these disgusting chinese refugees thought they are the boss of the island and they literally forbade Taiwanese students who were studying abroad to go home once the Taiwanese students had manifested their pro-Independence tendency. Therefore, the song like this one and many others, such as 黃昏的故鄉, all have very strong homesickness and nostalgia, which is very different the style than the songs of the rootless chinese refugees who never have any attachment for Taiwan except their greedy for stealing Taiwanese money and properties.
What a lovely piece of music and yet, there must be characters like Barry Liu to throw in his stupid and totally irrelevant comment. What's wrong with the translation ? Moreover it was a translation made by someone for those who may not understand the Chinese title. And to those like Barry Liu; Taiwan will always be just a geographical expression and an island belonging to the motherland!
This piece was composed by Taiwanese musician/educator, 呂泉生, and performed by Taiwanese string orchestra. To call it "Chinese Symphony Orchestra's Taiwan Folk Song" is completely an international piracy of intellectual property. Shame on China!
