Tekken has low entry level but the ceiling is INFINITE.
Every character is viable and you can win matches (no Johnny/Lao or Raiden/Kano cause they are literally the best due to “great balance” of the game). The customization, you can cover yourself in the drip you want FOR FREE. You don’t need those insane combos to win, get your bnbs, movement and learn matches.
Training mode is literally the best on the market. Music is blasting, literally bangers, even bangers from previous games thanks to jukebox mode. Tekken Ball is super fun if you don’t wanna fight and play a game of volleyball.
    Everyone is welcome here!

Yeah . Because Mk fans are more demanding than most of the other fighging games . Not even close .

Since Mk 9 , every game NRs did , the same ' Pro players ' bad mouthing the games . Its never good .
Mk 9 was to broke . Theres no fundaments .
Mk x is braindead . Thers no footsies .
Injustice 1 is to slow . Needs more speed .
Mk 11 has footsies . Game is to slow . Gets boring very fast . MK X is a better game and more fun they say .
      Injustice 2 . Same crap .

Game feels boring , repetetive , stale .
Mk 9 ist the best mk 9 ever they say .
Yeah . The game you so called ' pros ' didnt touch .
Guys like TOM BRADY , Reo , FoxyGranpa , and other youtubers , are the ones who are always complaining .
Mk is not supposed go be SF or Tekken .
Every game has its identity .
Sf Tekken are great games , but dont tell us , MK players are , realizing the game as issues and jumped to Tekken . Ghats not happening buddy .
Thats all ' a youtube hype train ' sheep do to get validation .
I love tekken , but tekken also lost much of what tekken was all about .
Theres fireballs , teleports , dive kicks , spevials , armors , many characters fell the same . Tekken also changed . And not for the better on my opinion .

Eh, I don't care. On the contrary, the least casuals the better. If all the mk and sf fans get on Tekken, we will get a bunch of complaints that the game isn't like mk and sf and demanding the game to change to be more casual and like mk.
Once enough transition, they become the majority and all of a sudden, mk fanboys decide what Tekken should be.
That is how modern gaming works. People DEMAND games to change to fit what they like. Souls games MUST have an easy mode or be super easy so anyone can finish them.
Armored core MUST be like souls games rather than the fkn franchise it has always been, because stats and parts are too hard and losing money isn't fun.
Tekken must be all about aggression because kbd and defense is too hard, so I should win by spamming moves even against players way better than me, because now the game's defense is all guessing forced 50/50s.
Mk fans will get me with open arms only and only once they learn the game and enjoy it for what it is, not the second they buy the game with their own expectations and zero skills, day 1 demanding balance changes, mudding the waters of actual real criticisms ("kazuya is too op. He has that one launch punishable string that does too much damage! Whaaaa 😭. His combos are too strong even though they do less damage than everyone else in the beta, whaaaa 😭")

@@bertojo what a shock. The casual noob thinks casual noobs are needed and are healthy for a game.
Yet they are usually the loudest and most obnoxious about balance changes when they know nothing.
And so developers listen to these casual noobs. It's the reason Tekken 8 is as lame as it is, all about casual aggression, nerfing super hard the defense, making everything easier while taking away identity from characters (oh yeah, a character doing random shit that doesn't fit in Tekken while in heat, a dumb mechanic that shouldn't even exist in Tekken, gives them a lot of identity... Almost like it's the one thing that gave identity to street fighter 5 characters 🤔).
Oh and the Amazing casual controls, where the game plays for you, a pretty viable control scheme that has no reason to exist in ANY game, let alone Tekken.
But nah, "casuals are good for a game" as I watch Tekken become a shitty 2d knockoff based around pressing buttons like that trash sf6 or MK1.
2 more installments and Tekken is gonna be all about projectile spam and v triggers, with the only defensive option being brining meter that refills itself.

With Tekken, very few characters have such inputs, you don't have a light, medium and fierce normals nor any supermoves.
Where most FGC games feel like cousins, Tekken feels like it's a whole new stranger and that's one of the main reasons it feels intimidating to pick up, with there also being a lot of legacy knowledge that new players have to pick up on. So we,ve had a very similar experience although I come from a mostly fps background. That being said I'm beyond hype for Tekken 8.played the demo but didn't like the 4 characters on offer. Biggest advice to someone coming into Tekken from other fighting games is to just have fun…. The more you worry about winning, the more you’re gonna be frustrated with learning the game…been playing Tekken all my life from Tekken 4 and in Tekken 8 ranked I’m stuck at Assailant, there’s always gonna be someone who’s better than me or I could be the one who’s better than someone else but whether I’m losing or winning; I’m enjoying the game, learning the new mechanics, and appreciating the title as a whole

As a hardcore Tekken fan, I will admit...the learning curve is very high. It's one of those games where you have to put 1000 upon 1000 of hours into. You need to know frame data, punishment, movement, poking, and most importantly...match-up knowledge. There are 32 characters in Tekken 8, you need to learn all of them if you want to win games consistently. Don't worry though, you can watch your online match replays and have access to a fully fleshed out practice mode.

Another great video Mike. We're more than happy to have NRS players coming over to Tekken with open arms. I know you've probably never seen it before, but the replay-play(?) function in Tekken has actually been done before. It was used in Guilt Gear XX, all the way back in 2012. Funnily enough Under Night 2 is re-introducing the function when the game releases on the 22nd. While the function has been used before, it's barely in any fighting game despite how robust and useful it is. I believe it should be in every fighting game, and Tekken is the first step to make it mainstream.

I do feel a game being hard or easy has an element of subjectivity. I play SF, but my tekken friend has a hard time doing certain link combos and special move inputs, plinking and all the little quality of life tricks. Let's not even mention the chicken wing/tiger knee motion. So for him, SF is the hardest. And that's just the input. Gameplaywise, he can't fathom the meta around jumping and cross ups. I think MK combo system is piss-easy, but i struggle so hard on the meta.
At the end of the day, all games can be the most technical from certain povs. So lets all be respectul of others' games.

Granted, I haven't played Tekken 8 yet, but most modern fighting games have a lower "barrier to entry" than every before. I'm a fighting game noob, and I can jump into any fighting game as a casual, have fun with my friends, and fumble my way through arcade and story modes. Sure, the COMPETITIVE scene has a higher skill level, but for most people who play casually (a few hours a week), you'll still have fun.
The coolest difference is that MK1 seems to have been already mostly figured out, while Tekken lets you build your own individual fighting style, experiment, and express yourself more. Mortal Kombat 1 doesn't feel as "rewarding" to learn (to me, at least) as the past Mortal Kombat's or some other fighting games. I'm much more of a Mortal Kombat guy overall, but progression matters in games. I want to feel rewarded for the time I put into them. And MK1 currently isn't as rewarding as its competitors.

I've never really played NRS games but I liked an analogy someone put out that Tekken is like running a marathon, it all accumulates, whilst every NRS game is a sprint to how can milk out as much potential as they can while the game is still alive.

  • @Calembunial
    @Calembunial 7 місяців тому

You mentioned DBFZ, but as someone who came from that game, I found Tekken a lot easier to learn.
The thing with DBFZ is, right off the bat, it forces you to learn 3 different characters. That to me is already insane. People complain about the extensive 100+ movelist from Tekken characters, but I would MUCH rather have that, than have to learn 3 separate characters, each with their own moves and combos.
Not only that, but learning to use assists properly in DBFZ was WAY HARDER than anything I've ever had to do in Tekken. Plus stuff life meter management, and the fact that combos in DBFZ have a much stricter execution window. Like yes, the knowledge curve in Tekken is pretty steep, but not really something you have to worry about until much, much later. Not the case with DBFZ, where from the very first game, you're stuck with 3 new characters to learn, assists, meter, etc. Holy shit.
Basically all I'm saying is, if I had to introduce someone to a fighting game, I would say Tekken is by far the easier one to get into compared to DBFZ. It just always rubbed me off the wrong way when they put DBFZ in the "easier to learn" category.

  • @GORO911

    *"Tekken is the most difficult"*
    That was before SF6.
As of now i think SF6 is the most difficult game around and will be the hardest throughout this generation.
Tekken just has more moves and you learn how to utilize all of them the longer you play and rank up.
Same for match ups, the more you play and ascend in ranks the more you learn what to watch out for from other characters.
It happens gradually so you don't feel it.

    • @RealMikeHollow
      @RealMikeHollow  7 місяців тому +1

Disagree. Whilst I wouldn't say SF6 is easy, it's very easy to grasp because it's scope isn't that grand. Tekkens complexities come in how much it offers. Just when you think you've learnt one match up, another shows up and makes you look like you know nothing. I never got that feeling in SF6. Drive Impact can be annoying, but it's a relatively small game so I don't feel like I'm learning a billion things at once, and it becomes easier to process.

Tekken elitists are few and far between compared to the number of players who just want to get people into the game and enjoy it, at least in my experience. Usually you have to go looking for them on twitter and twitter communities are usually clickbait toxic in general so I don't recommend actually socializing on twitter just in general. My advice and this is the same advice a ton of the other competitive players will say too, is just learn to enjoy the game and find the characters and gameplans you want to play first. Don't even worry about competing at all unless that's the sole reason the game is fun to you because that's not usually the fun part of the game for most people. As for learning the game, T8 has more features than ever that help you learn the game now and don't be scared to talk to people or opponents if they aren't toxic and ask for pointers or advice a ton of them are willing. This may sound elitists but I do think most of the MK players playing competitively are in for a rude awakening and won't stick with Tekken 8 since most of them likely won't be winning or doing as well as they think they should be doing. NinjaKilla is going to be killing it in T8 from what I've seen though, but he was never really only an NRS player, been around since at least the Tag 2 days. You should see PhiDX's T8 CNT/CBT matches with Ninjakilla, dude was already super optimized and whooping PhiDX who's one of the current best new Tekken competitors in the US. I'm real interested to see where NinjaKilla goes with Law in T8 later and any other (MK/NRS) players who'll stick around and put in the grind to get to a good competitive level. Also would be interesting if players start regularly identifying MK/NRS players in Tekken based on their gameplay alone.

Second this opinion, it isn't impossible to switch to Tekken. i jumped into my first tekken game 4 months ago playing tekken 7 having never played any tekken game before, i came from GG STrive and then Sf6.
The first week was rough, doubly so because in Tekken7 there are very few new players so everyone just wiped the floor with me, i also chose one of the hardest characters for a new player to begin with (Steve) but i stuck with it and within a month I could hold my own against beginner and intermediate players, and after 3 months I was completely fine and even won a match against a Tekken God ranked steve player, he won like 10-1 but i still won quite a few rounds in the matches i lost which i felt quite proud off as winning against a high level player in a mirror match isn't easy.
Tekken 8 will have much more new players so new players will definitely have a much easier transition than i did, but definitely stick with it. I played tekken 7 on a whim because it was on sale with no intention of sticking with it and i haven't booted up SF6 since and have moved completely over to tekken.
Stick with it, it is EXTREMELY rewarding when you start to learn new things and there is always something to learn and improve at.

One of the more important things to do outside of learning the gameplay is to not come in with an ego because you're good at MK. Tekken players have built themselves up on legacy skill, and have to go through monsterous amounts of labbing to understand everything, so it's a good idea to respect that, and if so then all the players joining will be respected too.

First tekken game and it is a wild ride but a fun one playing the game and finding a character that I think is cool and fun invests me into learning there buttons and I’d say I’m a pretty decent player now after 3-4 ish days of grinding

I actually find it harder to transition from Tekken to MK personally. Been trying MKX offline and AI be kicking my ass

I actually am really enjoying the learning process of Tekken. Experimenting with combo trials for each character feels more like I'm learning a new instrument. That being said, I'm still comfortably in the honeymoon phase, so I'm sure Tekken gonna get abusive in a minute or two. XD This is my first Tekken though, and I'm glad I'll have a little extra time to learn combos and punishes before my choom picks it up, himself.

From someone who doesn't like MK, I would welcome anyone from any fighting game to come over to tekken. Tekken is a difficult, but don't let that hold you back. I've started since tekken 5 and made an inprovement in Tekken 7. Durring that jurny I've become a decent player and the learning process was probably the best I've ever had. I want everyone thats new to tekken to enjoy these amazing characters and comunicate with the community. Once again, anyone is welcome to come to tekken.

As someone who's been playing Tekken for many years i'll gladly welcome any Mortal Kombat players making the jump.
It is a difficult game but... BUT it's not impossible to learn, if you're willing the put in the time to learning it will pay off, good luck making the jump guys. 🙏

It was the same thing with Elden Ring, people didn’t wanna play because of toxic souls fanbase when in reality Elden Ring was the most accessible/guided souls game out of the lot

Also one thing that should be noted I believe a big reason to why ppl gravitate towards mk is not because of skill but because it is one of the few American looking games some ppl can’t get past the super weeb screaming dramatic look of other fighters & mk is a western style game I believe is a huge reason before ppl ever pick up a game just off of the looks am I wrong?

Why the hell are Twitter Twits assuming that NRS players cannot transition into Tekken 8? As a fan of fighting games as a genre, i have learned the systems compatantly enough to enjoy the game. The system is part of the fun of each fighter.

Funny I came across this Video, i just left a comment on Maxmillion video yesterday on MK1 telling everyone to come on over to Tekken. 😂 But yeah, Tekken is a great game to play and just as exciting to watch high level play. This game is gonna be big and I think it will even have some SF fans jump on as well. 6 more days!!

Very good video a lot of people need to listen to that. Because you have to lose the wind and a lot of people don't understand that and it comes to this game.
It's almost a commitment to be able to improve

I have been playinf Tekken 7 for a couple of years now. The online experience is vastly positive and friendly. There are a few bad apples here and there, yes. But overall, I got WAY more toxicity in mobas. xD
People randomly add me on steam, they say gg. We compliment each other's gameplay and even offer each other help when they need match up knowledge.
I had never made it to Fujin as a Yoshimitsu player if it wasn't for this random Tekken God Omega Panda player helping me iron out my Tekken fundamentals.
Strangers here are mostly friendly. They even leave comments on my Steam complimenting my Yoshimitsu gameplay even if I'm not actually that good, tbh. I'm still learning. xD

I remember going to a local tourny back in the day for mk11, there was Tekken 7 also, played not much tekken 7 but still i subscribe into that t7 tourney aswel costed only 10 bucks so why not, ofc my ass got beated first round, but after that tekken players came to me and explained and showed a lot of stuff, so yeah i can safely say everyone is welcome in Tekken, and people will teach you, now i'm an descent Kazuya player

I have been able to somewhat learn Jin in the tekken 8 demo. I played Bryan a lot in tekken 7 so I will probably try to learn him in this game. I am excited to try out Raven, he looks sick. Can I add you on ps5?

I come from MK. My first tekken was tekken 5 dark resurrection. Try tekken you’ll never play mortal Kombat again. Biggest difference is 2D vs 3D, projectiles, punishment is more clear in tekken. Frame data was NEVER correct on MK. Tekken shows safe & unsafe moves. MK was more of a kids game imo. Fatalities will only ooh ahh you after seeing it like twice. Then it becomes meh…..

I've been playing tekken for 5-6 years now and i can tell It has always been like this, i personally think its content creators fault and, of course, social media.
Some of the comments you mentioned usually come from people that doesnt even have that much experience in the game, theyre just pretentious and want to convince themselves that they know better by choosing to play tekken.
If anyone reading wants to play the game i do NOT recommend going into reddit, X, etc before making the decision of playing, since those places can usually get you involve with these "characters" of the community.
Not everyone is like that tho.

Tekken 8 is just overall the better game. 325hrs in sf6 and only 2 hours in MK1. Tekken is just amazing and learning combos are super fun.

It’s crazy because I started playing tekken 3-8 I started learning combos on tekken tag 2 by my brother which I appreciate because if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be this good at the game I also began to learn from tournament players as well due seeing how good they are so. It’s ok to lose and get irritated over tekken because you don’t know how to move around and to these fundamentals so it’s hard over time but the more you play the more u will be better plz learn the game it will be fun sooo I will welcome all mk and streetfighter players ❤
