  • It's the 12th episode of season 1 of Stargate SG-1. In this one, we learn a whole lot more about Teal'c and a HUUUUUGE secret he's been keeping. Plus we meet some new friends that will carry on through the series. So what will Jeff, the first time watcher make of this episode? What sci-fi messages will Brent sniff out during his 47th watch?
And be sure to catch our main show, Babylon 5: For the First Time, when Brent is joined by Jeff to take a deep dive into the episode, searching for those Star Trek-like messages, and seeing if they should have watched it sooner. New Episodes drop on Mondays.

Bra'tac is one of the show's very best secondary characters.

Not bad for an old man of 137.

I have an NPC in a D&D campaign and novela series that is very much based off of Bra’tac. The very epitome of FAFO badass old man strength.

It's definitely one of my favorite Jack O'Neill interactions, though the moments that beat it are still a long ways away, except one from the season 1 finale(unless I'm forgetting exactly when that line happens and it's actually in the season 2 premiere?)
I'll quote it far below to prevent "spoilers"
"Now would be the time to say something profound.... nothing comes to mind, let's blow it up."

Bra'tac then proceeds to use this saying when ever possible. Even when it may not fit.

Far into the series there's a crisis with a visiting officer mentioning that O'Neill often makes a joke in that type of situation. O'Neill spends a few moments to try to put something together, then says "I got nothing".

Amazon will have greenlit and shot their rumored reboot before you guys get through SG-1 lol.
You cut Daniel spraying lead. I love that scene because it shows how far the Goa'uld have pushed Mr "fight for every life".
Love the insights, pretty spot on. Hard to discuss things and not spoil

To be fair, considering Goa'uld genetic memory is an established fact by this point, could larval Goa'uld every truly be considered "innocent"? They have memories of committing and enjoying all sorts of vile acts from birth as establishing foundation for their personalities and moral/ethical codes...

@@RipOffProductionsLLC yea, but Daniel's idealism would have wanted to give them a chance if he was looking from the outside in.

It's just struck me that the number of Jaffa who are carrying immature Goald symbiotes seems to be hundreds of times larger than the number of adult Goald. Do most of the symbiotes not make it to adulthood, or is there a Goald population explosion? If its the latter, does that mean that there are other planets which exist solely to breed hosts for adult symbiotes (possibly in an episode I've missed)?

Well done on the audio engineering! The splices were smooth & didn't trigger my ADHD. Which was weird since both of U were visually skipping through the audio edits.😆🤷‍♂️
Again great job! For what it's worth, my ADHD approves!❤️

Don't know what time zone they use now but the always seem to upload in the middle of the night or early morning EST/EDT eastern US. Brent is from neighboring KY and claims to be Appalachian (only easternmost KY is even in the foothills) From WV myself that is totally in the mountains. Within a couple dozen miles of crossing the Tug river KY becomes rolling grasslands for that they are known for as the Bluegrass state and horses with the KY Derby.

Nearly 400 views and yet fewer than 60 likes . . . ? C'mon guys & gals, we need to support Chucklenugget and the other one a little more! 😇
p.s. Please note that my tongue is well & truly lodged in cheek whilst I'm typing this post! Jeff & Brent help to make the start of a new week just a little bit more enjoyable. (Am looking forward to lunch with 'Babylon 5 For the First Time - The Ragged Edge' later on today.) Live long and don't be taken in by false gods!

Teal'c is Stargate's Worf or G'kar. It is almost like watching this for the first time because I saw it when it was new but never since. Star Treks through DS9 I have seen countless times as with B5 (even have the DVD's but Stargate being on Showtime and having cut the cord, just haven't rewatched). I enjoyed the show but it never drew me in like the Gene era Trek or B5. Later Trek (except the JJ trilogy) has become unbearable bad. Refused to touch the later crap with the cheerleader quips and woke joke material. BTW on wasp I may kill a nest but don't knock them down. Woodborer bees avoid wasp nest and they damage the home. Been thinking about adding a sweet 6000+ security honeybee hive to my home for honey and wax.
