Putting in my last 2 hours of work for the weekend watching the captain 👩✈️ will be watching again when I get home from work guarding underwear is a lonely job lol
👍 That cab is gold, it's the difference between "I dont think so" to "Yep, Iv'e got heat, getter' done". Hope your beeper button is ready for when you put those hoses back on and have to get those fittings started. sorry
You got lost in the shuffle. 😮 tell Clint thanks 👍 for the rattle gun trick on rusty lines. 😁👍. Get me one of them, I have an pneumatic gun but need a new compressor . Thanks.
Mike I do hope that future machine designers watch this video. The reason in my thinking is that when they design route for Hoses and pipes etc that they think first and ask this question to themselves. When this hose, pipe or filler is going to be used when all guards and panels are as the finished article. Can that person reach and undo whatever with ease? If not then redesign it so you can. This has always been an issue when working on any machine the trouble you had to even get your finger on the nut without a crow foot you would have been in trouble. Think of when I was repairing those same machines without the aid of a hammer drill out in the wild without electric. I await your attitude to the designers when you come to refit those pipes. Cut a hole in the floor easier than growing an extra foot on your arms. Great video and I commend your attitude and answers to many of the negative comments some make about what and how you do things. I say keep on doing your way or they if they do not like it should take the Highway out of there. You and the family Stay safe and well over there.
I like the difference you bring Captain, you include us in everything, sometimes it's like that we are really there with you. Which includes all the frustrations that go with life in general. If you have everything planned out and it all goes as you've planned, how boring would that be 🤗
That hammer drill trick is a game changer. And if anybody is critiquing your content jumping from one project to another, they should create their own channel and show us how to complete a project with an unlimited budget
For the future, don't mess with chisels to break bolts, just use the cut off wheel on your grinder and take the heads off. You will have less of a chance of damaging to the lower support holding the threaded part of your bolt. Sub flooring doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Good luck Mike and thanks for sharing.
We did a floor patch job on a front end salt loader last spring. Cutting all the panels and had cut to shape stainless diamond plate to fit in the openings in the 3/4" frame. Than welded a bunch of hold up mounting tabs to bolt the plates flush with the top of the 3/4" plate frame. After it was all done it had a spiders web pattern to it.
@@CaptainKleeman The big plus with it done that way no water can settle. It just run down between the panels and frame to the ground makes for easy cleaning with a hose and scrub brush.

9:17 Racoon?? 🤣🤣 I think your roll on pickup bed paint is a great idea for the cab floor. Looking forward to more videos of the backhoe. Nice video, thank you Capt. 👍
I was thinking the same thing when Mike when mike started pulling the old matt out and saw all that rust. That durable bed liner stuff was a game changer in the automotive industry. The products have improved over the years, becoming lighter and stronger. The fact that it has been used for so many applications other than what it was originally designed for goes to show the ingenuity of people. Bedline an entire vehicle exterior for off road protection! Imagine the surprise of the product designers! You can even get that stuff with insulation and sound deadening properties! Use that stuff to coat the entire interior of the cab! And you can now get that stuff in a variety of colors!
Mike, I think your variety of projects if what makes your channel so watch-able. I left a couple of other channels, not because they had poor content, but every video was more of the same. Keep up what you are doing.
Take a look at Rust Converter Ultra $59.99 for a gallon what’s nice is you can pressure wash let dry and paint. The paint will react with the rust and stop prevent and protect. It will turn black and act as a primer. Thumbs up 👍
In regards to the part of the video where you used a crows foot to loosen the fitting. I find the 12 pt style crows foot works better but they can be expensive to buy. So I keep a lot of extra old wrenches around and when I need a crows foot for a line on my equipment I dig through my pile of extra wrenches, cut the box end off the one I need with about an inch of handle left on maybe less and weld a female end off a broken adapter or extension onto it, then cut the box end open just enough to fit over the line. Works great and has saved me a bunch of money since I have the extras lying around anyways. Don’t weld too much at once, the heat will affect the shape of the box end and always cut it open after.
Remember Mike, a bigger hammer is ALWAYS better !! 😁 Nice progress on the 555, and it's really cool you get a lot of support from C&C Clint, DP Mike, ADS and others.
This is to Clint and Kleemman. I don't own a SDS yet, but I do own an air hammer. I am going to remember that trick and now on the search for a cheap SDS as it is something I wanted but couldn't justify yet.
Well, Hay Mike! Absolutely wonderful tip from you and Clint! I've about busted a gut many times trying to get a hose off! I'm gunna make me a couple of those chisels! That alone was worth the watch! Great video! Lee PS: Once you get all the hoses changed, and you let it run a few hours and move all the hydraulic valves in both directions - change the hydraulic filter(s). You know dirt is the killer of hydraulics.
Cap’n thanx for the tip. I’ll tuck that away in my bag of tricks for the next time I need to loosen hoses. Perhaps I can try it out in my old garden hoses when I dig them out this spring? That floor pan was one molecule of rust away from falling apart. Fortunately, you brung the right tool for the job. Those rock chisels are perfect for cutting bolts. And, their safety guards are great for holding them in place for serious hammer strikes. Iffen one didn’t know better, he might assume they were actually designed for removal of triple nickel floor pans! I think it was wise to replace all those hidden hoses… it looked like they were just one bucket of dirt away from blowing. And, at the price of oil, you may have saved enough to pay for them anyway. Take care bud… I’ll see you in the next one.
Wise decision to replace that group of hoses all together. The sheer amount of dirt, debris and rust that came off the floor was downright impressive. Don’t you love folks that come onto your channel and try to tell you how to do your projects? 🤣 Stay safe Captain.

And while they are off, it could be wise to cover the replacement hoses with fire hose too. I agree with you and Mike on the state of the cab, definitely salt corrosion there.
