DC has among the best architecture in the world and loading more people in a space increases the density . People are not meant to live on top of each other.
I like the short buildings, shorter buildings mean more sunlight, not like Philadelphia, where the tall buildings makes it seem dim and gloomy.
Sounds like Washington DC needs more land expansion helping everything spread out with more standard house buildings
Placing some hi rises over in Lenflant Plaza might work. It’s kind of away from the main downtown corridor and there’s good size land in an area that has a number of out of date aged buildings. That way it won’t mess up the look/aesthetic of constitution and Pennsylvania avenues. Could look really cool coming across 14th street bridge n 395.
It’s time to raise the height limit. Look to Paris as the example with La Defense. Reserve the historic center height while dedicating a certain neighborhood for high rises.
They will more than likely not approve this under the current congress due to their fear of more left minded voters.
Nothing to do with "left minded voters". More like keeping DC a nice city to be in. Not full of high rises than make you feel small and unimportant. Highrises suck!
Not gonna happen. And I don’t trust Mayor Bowser on housing related issues anyway.
