Hope you enjoy this one! It was an emotional roller coaster for sure! April has been so happy and proud since we got this ticked off of her checklist and I can't even tell you how happy it made me to see her flying through these. Thank you guys for everything and for always being so supportive. This is gonna be a fun Summer!
I have my husband watch this channel so he sees how to treat women when they are learning, with encouragement and patience. Great work April! She is so good!
Thank you for showing the raw part of trying to face your fears. This comforting to know I’m not the only one who gets frustrated when I don’t commit to a new feature. April is awesome! So inspiring!
April should be so proud. She absolutely killed it! I wouldn’t have had the guts to even attempt half those jumps. I also just want to say, Kyle seems like a truely awesome dude. So supportive and never pushes April to do anything she’s not comfortable with. The world could use more blokes like you.
I've never seen a MTB video capture the hesitation in the the face of a scary feature, followed by the elation of doing it, like this one. Special stuff.
Some people prefer superman and superwoman. My heroes are Kyle and April. Well done April , you were awesome. Kyle, you are a freaking great teacher / mentor. Your attitude towards April speaks volumes; especially the positive comfort and support. Keep it up
Tevin, if you followed the channel, you would know that April rode and trixxed BMX for many years before Kyle probably learnt to manual. Granted Kyle is instrumental in helping take it to the next level, but its not her first rodeo.
I love how Kyle hit the poppy one the way he thought April would, not boosting & styling it up - which looks great but doesn’t help someone learning it.
Thanks Ivan! Yeah, i feel like it's important to put yourself in other people's shoes when they are learning something new. The fear almost always adds a little element of tightness the first few times and then slowly fades away and lets you hit things relaxed!
@@AprilRideMTB Yes i loved that part of the vid as well....when i saw you do it tight...and i thought..thats exactly how i feel hitting a jump for first time
Kyle you scored big time when you met April. She's a keeper. You are so supportive and patient with her.. I am learning a lot from you videos. Props to both of you.
April is a badass. It takes a lot of maturity to pass on something you want to do so bad like that whale tail. But if you’re not feeling it, it’s best to leave it for another day. Consider that day a win overall. Kyle, I admire your ability to verbally break down bike skills into small chunks that are easier to digest. A mark of a great coach.
This is just the most wholesome thing I have ever seen. You're a legend Kyle and a fantastic teacher. April is a champ for hitting that run, and even more so for hitting it again after the disappointment of not getting the Whale-tail. That takes some awesome confidence and resilience!
That was a perfect demonstration of how to teach. Patience and understanding. April wasn't confident for the Whale's Tail. Therefore Kyle does not push her or show disappointment in her. You can't focus on the technical aspects of performance when fear is overriding your thoughts. Great job. Also, I love how you guys are so polite and thoughtful of each other. Two caring and genuine people. You are great examples for others to observe and I'm not talking about riding.
@@AprilRideMTB April, I was thinking about how to overcome your fear of the Whale's Tale. Ask yourself this, if the Whale's tail was just dirt...would you fear it? I have no experience with these things, but I am pretty sure that the Whale's tale is just an illusion. It's an elevated illusion but regardless, is it really different than a dirt jump? If you can visualize it as a dirt jump, I'm pretty sure you can convince yourself to do it (overcome the fear). The second thing to try is ask yourself, "what is the worst thing that could happen if I don't land this thing correctly? What would that look (and feel) like? If you can accept that, then that may also help you overcome your fear. FYI, I have very few challenges where I ride (middle of nowhere Alaska), but one of the is a set of very uneven stairs made of wood and gravel. There are different flights within those stairs and I have made it down 2 sets which is my limit because the next set is very sketchy. I have weighed the risks and I won't do it. What I am telling you is that I understand fear and consequences and respect whatever you decide (like Kyle). Best of luck...Dan
I’ve become jaded over the years and normally would ignore a comment like this or add some jackazz comment. But. I can’t agree more. April and Kyle seem like the nicest most genuine couple around. Besides being awesome athletes. Maybe a few very lucky soulmates do find each other.
Nothing to be disappointed about, April.. Hitting all of those jumps was crazy impressive already. I'm surprised you had the guts to even consider the whale tale on the same day. Great job!
Thank you! It was a loooong day and we realized it was a lot to conquer half way though haha Glad we didn't try to work through the whole trail in one day!

This was the best reality tv I have seen in months! I was nervous through the whole thing! Also very inspiring to see April achieve this level of competency Maybe I can do it too
You two have the most amazing channel out there. The transparency and honesty regarding the mental struggle of hitting jumps and features is an encouragement to all of us who are in the same place. Setting the goal, practicing, the session work, and finally hitting the run is inspiring. Kyle is a great teacher. April is an amazing student. A great team. Thanks for making my Saturday. Now, off to a ride!
I had a smile on my face the whole time watching this. She kicked ass and hit jumps that most people won't even think about attempting. I love the positive reinforcement you give her. Can't wait to see her hit the whole line.
Just found your channel after hearing your COVID story. So proud of you both. Watching the jumps dropped my stomach. Never jumped a bike but have jumped horses my whole life
Kyle you are an incredibly patient and encouraging teacher. Your interaction with April is beautiful even when you know she can do it and she chickens out. Your teaching style is massively effective despite the fact that you are so capable of doing most of these features “effortlessly”. You could make serious money going around the country giving weekend clinics for riders.
It's funny how different people look at things. To me, stopping on the whale tail seems way scarier than doing the whole thing. Props to April for the awesome brake control.
Many of my friends also agree that stopping seemed more scary. I was just definitely not mentally ready for this feature, but if you want a follow up to this check out this video ua-cam.com/video/V2yEZQbpZck/v-deo.html
Oh wow, that was incredible, way to go April. I was just at my local jump trail trying to muster enough courage to do some gap jumps. Next time I go out there, I will remember April and hopefully get to boost those gaps.
This is why you guys' channel is the best ... so real and pure, that was a private moment when April got frustrated, thanks for letting us in and sharing that with us. April we all know you will conquer that tail, fight another day 💪. Your progression has been nothing but outstanding. Kyle you need to start your own clinic, for real bro, your approach to technique and teaching is awesome 👌👏.
You two should do couples counselling, honestly. Kyle, you're the man. An example for all of us to follow when when it comes to your humility and your patience with your lady. 10/10
haha I don't think we are qualified for that, but have enjoyed hearing how guys are using our videos to help learn how to coach their significant other 😊
Massively impressed with April’s progress. You’re looking so comfortable hitting those jumps, making it look so easy. You’ve definitely got it in you to conquer that whale tail - believe it and you’ll achieve it!
I stumbled into this channel after just recently restarting my own MTB journey after many years away. I'm in my late 40s now and getting back on a mountain bike again has been humbling but also very fun! I have found some great tips and inspiration from the two of you! Great, great, great! Thank you!
She looked so smooth on that whole line. You haven't been showing how much progress she's been making over the last year. She's really good on the gap jumps. Go April! Love these videos.
Thanks Jason! We got a new dirt jump park last year (the one in the how to jump video) and I think just practicing on the small jumps there built my confidence for these jumps. Then when we did a trip to Virgin in March I got to see the biggest jumps I have ever seen and hit the smallest one I could find. After a week of watching people send the rampage sites I came home and looked a these jumps with more confidence.
I'm not adding anything here that already hasn't been said, but watching the genuine human drama of you two interacting as April continues to skyrocket in her skill levels is the kind of glimpse into heartfelt love and deep humanity that so many people benefit from witnessing. Myself included. Bravo, and thanks to you both for sharing your lives with us.
April YOU ROCK!!!!!!! I cannot articulate how much you inspire me to take on bigger jumps. I am scared sh!tless when even looking at jumps that high ...but DESPERATELY want to do them ! As with all your videos, this was well filmed, narrated and edited. Furthermore it builds on your "How To" series. Well done April and Kyle.

I just love how you treat April, very supportive and letting her grow on her own without exerting any pressure to accomplish a goal. You guys are a perfect example of a couple. Keep up the good work guys! And April, to make you feel better, I can't do most of the things you did back there. Keep up the videos guys, soon I'll be brave enough to try and defy gravity. But for now, I'm happy just staying on the ground. Cheers!
This was amazing. April, I'm as proud as I would be with my own daughter. And Kyle, your patient instruction and encouragement is heartwarming to see. I think I was as nervous and scared as April, especially watching you stop on Whale Tail. Very smart of you, April, to call it a day when you did. I'll admit, I started tearing up when you both hugged after the last run. Awesome video!! Thanks!
This is the first time I have seen your channel. You guys are so awesome! Watching her conquer her fears was priceless, absolutely priceless! Kyle, your patience and kindness comes strait through the camera for sure. Just a great relationship you guys have together is and obvious assessment most will find endearing and special. New fan, You guys rock....
April, that was some freakin' badass riding combined with good judgment when it didn't feel right (yet!) on the whale tail...you had an epic win with nailing the new jumps and ended the day with bike & body intact. Huge respect to you for including your 1st attempts at the jumps and apprehension/frustration at the whale tale...you show the genuine experience while many others only want viewers to see when things go perfectly for them. Your MTB progression has been insane...the whale tale's only a matter of time. Kyle, you're a truly gifted coach & human being. We could all take a life-lesson from how you guys treat each other. Thanks for all you guys bring to the MTB community! Cheers from Chico :)
April and Kyle your both so down to earth . Kyle your an excellent teacher calm no pressure. April you know your limits and you continue show that you can learn at your own pace. You to are very inspiring. Thank you.
The great thing is the whale tail isn’t going anywhere and when ready, we know you will nail it. It’s great to see the patience and no pressure from Kyle and encouragement too. The fact you smashed the rest of the line should make you very happy and proud of yourself. You’ll get it and great job, both of you Hoorah 👍🤟
You two are an awesome example for the youth of today…and even for us old farts. There’s SO MUCH MORE to your videos than just the riding. Your LOVE and COMPASSION is a LIGHT TO ALL who watch. PRAISE GOD! Thanks and BLESSINGS.
Tomorrow will be my second day ever MBing and I will be at Eagle tomorrow. I cannot wait until I have the flow down. It looks so much fun. Great job guys.
Nice! I am definitely no professional, but confidence plays a big role. People who take jumps and not feel confident usually end up wrecking. Its not that they don't have the skills to do it, but man, once you get in your head, its hard to get out of it. Just keep it up! You're killing it!
Thanks so much Jon, yeah the confidence part is so huge. I always say Confidence = Preparation x Visualization. Once you can see it going well in your head, then you are pretty much ready, but if the outcome is blank or negative in your head then you need a little more prep.
I totally know that feeling, even tho all my MTB challenges are far easier by comparison! This vid was certainly inspirational. I enjoyed that all April’s attempts were left in and much appreciated Kyle’s guidance to helping April succeed. The support hugs were great too! I think I might need a trailside hugger 😂
Way to push, but also way to call it when appropriate, and not push to send it when you're not ready. Kyle, your patience is an inspiration; I need to get better at that.
Maybe i am the most happy i felt about someone else’s happiness about achieving something new ☺️👏👏👏💪👍🥳😘❤️ Bravo Kyle Bravo April 👌👌👌👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏 Great collaboration ! Awesome work 😎
Thank you so much!! That means a lot, we try to put everything in there, good or bad. I feel like so much of the stuff we see these days is polished and I know i've definitely had lots of moments crying on the trail when I couldn't get something I really wanted. Thanks for the nice comment!
YAYYY!!! I'm so proud of you and I SOOOOOO feel exactly the way you do when I can't get something by the end of the day. April, thank you for letting yourself be vulnerable like this. And Kyle, thank you for being such an empathetic and understanding coach! I love you guys!!! Yet I'm still trying to just get a little jump without my feet coming up, so I'm WAY behind you on those big airs! Keep up the great work you two! 💕
This is perhaps my favorite of your videos, almost like a putting it all together “pump” the whoops, keeping speed on turns, jumping technique, and most of all the level of inspiration that Kyle provides to April and the level of inspiration April imparts to me, the viewer. Freakin amazing. It’s hard not to get joyfully emotional with you two on this journey. Thank you for the educational, inspiring and transparent content.
this run is so absurdly big in person, its incredible that april is riding all of those after only a few seasons. im going into my second season this trail has always solidly been in the "i don't think i'll ever ride anything that big" lane haha
Good job showing Aprils difficulties on the whale tail. Makes us newbs feel human ! You should both be so proud of your channel, my riding has improved a lot from I learned watching you both and explaining things so well. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Kyle is so zen all the time it's actually scary 🤣🤣 Bravo April for conquering and controlling the fear, I'll speak for myself but I'm sure many out there will agree that you are an inspiration to riders out there who are getting into jumps. Awesome work 💪
Myself and my wife just started riding. Wish we could take some lessons from you two. Your patient’s and encouragement with April is something we can all learn from. Wonderful channel and beautiful chemistry between you two.
Kyle you are such a great coach. You're the kind of coach someone can really learn a lot from because of your patients, approach, and of coarse knowledge of riding. I'm nowhere near your level but I'm trying to teach my wife how to ride. Even green trails can be tricky for her as shes never ridden a bike until recently. Having that kind of patients is so hard sometimes, when your comfortable on a bike its difficult to understand how the other person feels. I'm learning a lot from you watching your videos, thank you for putting in the work for us. April you are doing amazing and watching the two of you interact puts a smile on my face. I have to get my wife hooked on your videos I know she'll love them.
I'm sorry I haven't watched many of your videos lately, but I am now focusing on rollerblading more, but the last video I watched I think you were teaching April wheelies and how to manual and I was impressed with your teaching and April's learning, but seeing this video, April you are so bloody good, you look so so confident now!!! Well done teacher and very well done Student!!! AWESOME
That would be crazy! She is such a hard worker and goal setter. It's been really awesome to watch and if anything I am always trying to slow her down and wait until her skills develop before we attempt certain things haha. Thanks for the nice comment! It will be fun to see where she goes :)
I come for my son. I learn to help him learn. I stay for the support, love, patience, and kindness between this couple. It actually chokes me up. It is absolutely beautiful. I wish all people treated each other this way. Especially between couples.
You two are the best, Kyle has so much patience and April is tough and listens carefully to improve so much, also thanks for sharing the sessioning and all the incomplete attempts, sometimes we think a feature should be done first time and seeing you progress by working on it helps and inspires a lot.
Getting a tow in is the best way to overcome fear...but I would still have elbow pads and a roost on as those are big jumps for beginners. Good job though...stay safe...from Oz

But for now, I'm happy just staying on the ground. Cheers!
Thank you! 😊
She should be so proud of herself! She is such a quick learner and I love that she is so determined. Great job guys!
Thank you! 😊
You guys are amazing.
Kyle, you're a real gentleman! You're so patient with April and giving her all the support she needs.
April, you rock!
Thanks!
Awww thank you so much Ron! 😊😊😊
Thank you so much Jerry!
OMG, April is doing so amazing. Very happy and proud of the both of you. Such an amazing teacher and boyfriend. Very cool!
Thank you! 😊
Omg the progression here is amazing...
This video speaks so loud to us beg jumpers! Thx you two
That's so cool to hear! Thanks for watching!
Aweee..............I'm in tears. Feeling for you April. I'm proud of you too. True grit. Courage. And inspiring.
April and Kyle your both so down to earth . Kyle your an excellent teacher calm no pressure. April you know your limits and you continue show that you can learn at your own pace.
You to are very inspiring. Thank you.
Thank you so much!!!!
The great thing is the whale tail isn’t going anywhere and when ready, we know you will nail it. It’s great to see the patience and no pressure from Kyle and encouragement too. The fact you smashed the rest of the line should make you very happy and proud of yourself.
You’ll get it and great job, both of you
Hoorah 👍🤟
Thanks Charlie! I wouldn't be mad if it did go somewhere haha 😂 -April
@@AprilRideMTB 🤣
I love the way Kyle is so supportive and encouraging to April.
Thank you! 😊
It really shouldn't be any other way. Huge respect for Kyle showing how it's done (skills wise and coaching wise).
Keep up the inspirational AND aspirational stuff! There's still tons of us trying to hit jumps like the ones at the beginning of the video!
Hope you had fun!
April you are an inspiration!!!
Thank you!!! ☺️
Thank you! 😊
Way to push, but also way to call it when appropriate, and not push to send it when you're not ready. Kyle, your patience is an inspiration; I need to get better at that.
Thank you! 😊
Maybe i am the most happy i felt about someone else’s happiness about achieving something new ☺️👏👏👏💪👍🥳😘❤️ Bravo Kyle Bravo April 👌👌👌👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏 Great collaboration ! Awesome work 😎
Thank you!!! 😊
This was your best video yet! Love the honesty. Some stuff is just hard. 👍👍
Thank you so much!! That means a lot, we try to put everything in there, good or bad. I feel like so much of the stuff we see these days is polished and I know i've definitely had lots of moments crying on the trail when I couldn't get something I really wanted. Thanks for the nice comment!
Omg! Amazing! It gives me some courage too. Old man from South Korea! Big fan of your channel!
Thank you, glad it gives you some courage as well!
Thanks so much John!! We really appreciate everything you've done in supporting us on this journey :)
You both are the most polite couple and UA-camrs. Awesome job April.
Thank you! 😊😊😊
Amazing to see the whole, raw, real process (including the low moments) - and congrats for the whole run, very very cool.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! April is killing it and Kyle is such a great teacher. Great stuff!
Thank you!
this run is so absurdly big in person, its incredible that april is riding all of those after only a few seasons. im going into my second season this trail has always solidly been in the "i don't think i'll ever ride anything that big" lane haha
Thank you! I always looked at it as my goal and it would be so cool to hit it one day!!! -April
Good job showing Aprils difficulties on the whale tail. Makes us newbs feel human ! You should both be so proud of your channel, my riding has improved a lot from I learned watching you both and explaining things so well. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you so much!!! 😊
You guy's are literally couple goals I love watching you guy's and kudos to the guys for being so patient and helpful...
Thank you! 😊
Great work! Those are solid jumps
Love this!! You guys rock! Way to go April, so sick!🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much Tony!!! :)
Kyle is so suportive. I learn from him how to train and treat my girl. Great video!
That is so great to hear! It is a skill in itself 😊
Thank you so much!
Be with someone that looks at you like April looks at Kyle, omg the love!
😍
Agree, and I'd say even more so the way Kyle looks at April. The two appear to be genuinely happy together - it's touches my soul.
So stoked seeing aprils progress...awesome hardwork to this content congrats april☺
Thank you!! 😊
Sage fright is no joke! April is a beast!
Thank you 😊
Kyle you are such a great coach.
Thank you, that is great to hear! Teaching someone is also a skill in itself and we are glad that we are also helping people learn that as well 😊
I'm sorry I haven't watched many of your videos lately, but I am now focusing on rollerblading more, but the last video I watched I think you were teaching April wheelies and how to manual and I was impressed with your teaching and April's learning, but seeing this video, April you are so bloody good, you look so so confident now!!! Well done teacher and very well done Student!!! AWESOME
Good job April you have got way better your going to have to teach me just kidding I live in nsw Australia
she has come soo far i believe she can be a real pro biker in no time
That would be crazy! She is such a hard worker and goal setter. It's been really awesome to watch and if anything I am always trying to slow her down and wait until her skills develop before we attempt certain things haha. Thanks for the nice comment! It will be fun to see where she goes :)
I wish I was half as good as her right now. Motivation to be out there.
I come for my son. I learn to help him learn. I stay for the support, love, patience, and kindness between this couple. It actually chokes me up. It is absolutely beautiful. I wish all people treated each other this way. Especially between couples.
That is great to hear that you watch to help your son learn and glad that it is still entertaining for you, thank you! 😊
You have a great teacher in Kyle. He is so patient and supportive. Keep it up, girl. You have come a long way. ;)
Thank you!! 😊
You two are the best, Kyle has so much patience and April is tough and listens carefully to improve so much, also thanks for sharing the sessioning and all the incomplete attempts, sometimes we think a feature should be done first time and seeing you progress by working on it helps and inspires a lot.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the process 😊
Getting a tow in is the best way to overcome fear...but I would still have elbow pads and a roost on as those are big jumps for beginners.
Good job though...stay safe...from Oz
Thanks!
I don't think there is anything cuter than April's stoke.
Haha thanks Michael!!
Kyle & April, your an inspiration. Kyle your so sweet and gentle to april also an awsome mountain biker. You can clear it april.. go for it girl. Stay safe to the both of you. Love you both
Thank you! 😊
I’m here for that realness. April you crushed it! Better rider than I’ll ever be! Kyle you kill it with the support and coaching! 🤜🤛
If you haven't married her yet, do it now. If you are already married, marry her again.
The whale tale is legitimately a scary feature .
YES!!!
I need a pocket Kyle for when I'm at the jumps
Kyle... dude... such a perfect balance between encouragement/ challenging and understanding of her fears/reservations brings out the awesomeness that is April. I'm learning mountain biking and relationship skills here! Lol.
Kyle, you are so supportive and patient to April, it shows how great of a teacher you are. And hopefully other males can learn how to be patient and keep the riding fun. April you are doing so well and conquering all your fears. When you were getting frustrated I am right there with you many, many times. Fantastic content and I’m a sub for life. Thanks for the time and effort you put into this.
