    Just bought a d-39 and love it. And have over 20.000 hours running this size dozer. Have owned 3 case 850s and cat d4 also 3 different john deer. IAM 59 year's old and still self employed. Buying the Kamotsu is the best decision I made. Thanks for the video. T-K WA state

    Finish dozer guy here. Operating since 1985. Started on an old JD 450...In my opinion after running the new stuff the Komatsu fulling integrated GPS Dozers are the best as far as operator friendliest and comfort for sun up to sun down days. They also seem to hold up on track and undercarriage wear. My first time on a new D-39 was on a house plat we built I couldn't believe how smooth it turned and held the desired turn rate as i cut for curb and gutter...I got to finish it all in those days no GPS...the ponds turned out sweet as it was the the best for slope work as well...Cat is good, but can't compare on balance when free hand work is needed...and it always is...

      Thanks for watching and for commenting, we always love to hear feedback like this. Operating the D39 is truly a wonderful experience. Smooth, powerful, lightning-fast hydraulics and great on fuel. That said, the others all have their strengths too and are also great to operate.

Road construction etc to having to do finishing work as well..Operating Cat d4,d5,d6,d7,d8 & d9.. h,k,n,r,& t, etc etc..Deere 750k,850k..Dresser td 20 & 25b,c,e & g..Komatsu d61,d65,d68,d85 & d155..For me,I personally prefer Komatsu for all scopes of dirt work..I have my personal reasons for preferring Komatsu,too many to list..That being said,I don't complain anymore😂 with whichever seat I'm in..

    Is there some bloat in small dozers? I was expecting something somewhere around 8,000 to 12,000 lbs (something that can be towed behind a pickup).
    Has that class been taken over by the skid steer track loaders?

    • @SoGoWoWo
      @SoGoWoWo  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for watching and for the question. To answer in general - yes the skid steer track loaders have pretty much taken over that segment. Komatsu, Cat, John Deere etc all have smallest starting at around 17000 lbs mark now. We will hopefully be a comparison of the skid steer machines in the near future.

    The older d4 high track from the late 80s and mid 90s the K are great machines looking at from a grading small rock on the sprocket for wear the high track not as much on the sprocket crushing the smaller stuff just as must wear as the big stuff rocks not bigger dozers. The 3/4 rock gets in-between the sprocket and the drive chain hard on both the high track the idel wheel being smooth pops it out most of the time in stead of the sprocket grabing and pulling it in still both work changing sprocket teeth a bit easier on the high track not breaking the track apart in the feild changing pads that's 4 bolts compared to breaking a track apart in the feild by yourself. Some say unfriendly to the environment but also the high track used for Forrest fires keeping the drive up high for temp and such

      Very true! We very much enjoy discussing heavy equipment as well. Those were great machines and the high drive has proven to be very advantageous in many areas. I personally spent many thousands of hours on a D6M with steering clutches (rather than the electric at the time steering clutches) and have fond memories of it. With the improved cooling and power - they were a welcome change to the 5H. Personally what I love about all these new machines is the speed of the hydraulics. They are just so fast!

    Good video with lots of info. I'll be purchasing a small dozer in a couple of months, along with a large dozer, backhoe, skid steer and some other equipment. This will be in Ecuador and a few hundred miles from any dealer. I'll probably negotiate the best price with one dealer rather than trying to get a piece of equipment from 2 or 3 dealers. Any advice? I've used Cat and Komatsu and years ago with JD. My preference, based on durability is Cat. Thanks for sharing.

    • @SoGoWoWo
      @SoGoWoWo  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for watching and the great questions! I think the best advice we could give is who has the best dealer support near you? They all make pretty great machines anymore - some stronger than others in certain areas. The problem we all face is who will be able to fix or repair the best and most responsive around you. When you see other contractors with equipment near you, see if you can ask them what kind of service they get from the dealer being that far away. If you hear good things about one particular brand vs another, I would personally recommend going with who will offer you the best service. We hope that helps and if you have any other questions please feel free to reach out again. Good luck in your future endeavours! It’s always good to hear new people getting into it.

      Always been a cat fan for their dozers and excavators. Not huge on their general contractor use equipment (skid steers and mini excavators etc.) they proved they were the best for the military and semi engines and they’re the only dozer I’ll use for my projects. I’ve ran cat on my farm and CNH, Deere, and Komotsu for work but I have my preference based on control layouts, engine patterns, low end power, and maintenance/repair expenses. I love CNH ag equipment but I’m not to impressed with their construction equipment lately. I’m looking into a nasty c18 build for the equipment hauler semi when the Cummins gives up

    Computer screen up on the dash is absolutely the best place to have it. Looking down between your knees or at your feet to look at a screen all day long sucks. Besides you can’t read numbers or text as well and when they are put down below. The sunlight is on it a lot more when it’s down low and it gets washed out so bad you can’t see anything on the screen. Next time you drive your car try looking at your feet vs the windshield .

      @SoGoWoWo I currently own a new cat d3, I had a case 750m and komatsu d39 before it, all good machines, I bought cat because of the slope assist grade control komatsu did not offer and they were more expensive. Cat gave me best price over anyone else right up front. It also has alot of other features, too many to list, but a couple are 7 bottom rollers instead of 6, a massive final drive system, and stable blade control, you should look that up if your not familiar. To date it is my favorite dozer I've ever been on. I've owned it for about 18 mos.

      That’s awesome - I’m glad to hear about the Cat. I e always been a fan of Cat but sometimes the smaller dozers weren’t the greatest so it’s good to hear they e brought their game up. And they’re competitively priced too so even better! Thanks again for your comments and information - enjoy your Cat!

      Thanks for watching and for commenting. Both those companies make great machines no doubt. We certainly won’t tell you what to buy, we just wanted everyone to know what’s available from each manufacturer.
      Thanks again for watching and commenting. Take care out there!
