      I remember crying at the end reading this as a kid I must’ve been like 14 or so when I read this. I am not 29 and remembering it. Will have to reread it for sure.

    Gosh I'd forgotten about this one. I loved this novel when I read it as a teenager. I'm surprised by how much I remember about the plot and the premise actually considering how long ago I read it. Such a lovely book!

      Yeah there's something really memorable about it.

    I absolutely loved this book! It leaves you on a hook every page, and the ending will likely get stuck in your head for a little. Overall, some...strange themes, but if your into fantasy and mystery, this book is for you!

    I loved this book in middle school and then totally forgot about it. God bless the internet for answering the question “book with snow globe on cover” just reread it and handed it over to my 13 year old niece

    I liked this book when I read it many years ago. You're the first person on BookTube I've seen talking about it! I don't remember a lot of it nowadays, I suppose I'll have to re-read it some day!

    I love your advent calender so much! (even though I have not watched every video yet but will :D) short videos on personal favorites are such gems, I wonder why nobody does them.. or I guess that's what other people's wrap ups are made off? but it's not quite the same. The book sounds super weird and yet intriguing. thanks for bringing it onto my radar!

      Thank you so much! Honestly, the reason people don't do short videos on individual books like that is because they don't get many views at all. But I've really been enjoying making this daily advent calendar series, and I'm glad it's appreciated :)

      It's not a perfect novel, but really beautifully written.

    I remember liking this one when I read it but I think I'd appreciate it so much more now! I actually own a copy and I have been wanting to reread it for a while. You've reignited my determination to do that sooner rather than later!
    Agreed on the romance. I like the character she ends up with, but the whole thing felt a little off to me

    • @SpinstersLibrary
      @SpinstersLibrary  4 роки тому

      Same - the love interest was an interesting character, well developed and likeable, but the romance itself wasn't quite, um, appropriate.

      @@SpinstersLibrary I felt the same when I was going in to 7th grade and was reading this. I wondered why our school, which is very sensitive to content would make us read

    I read "elsewhere" in 2008 and enjoyed it. Then the following month I read "If I Stay" and liked that one a little better. I'm not sure how I'd feel about either one if I were to re-read them. 🤔

    I'd never heard of this, but it sounds not super to my tastes. I have a couple of books like this that I loved as a teen and only realized got largely unfavorable reviews in adulthood. Always makes me a little bitter lol

      I feel like it could be done right with the right director! Somewhere between The Lovely Bones and The Haunting of Hillhouse. Something beautiful and emotional but also honest to the horror and finality to grief/death/the ending/beginning of things 💗
