- Hi everyone this is Hansoo from favourgreen
Today's plant diary is about Rhipsalis campos plant propagation with cutting.
I have been looked around the internet about rhipsalis cactus cutting propagation but didn't find much information. but a few days ago, while I'm caring my rhipaslis, I found its rooting(?) from the leaves.
so, I thought it may be it could be easier to do curring propagation than I thought, and this time I just tried for the experiment.
if you want to check how I did, its on the video :)
and if you follow my Instagram, you may able to check how's my plant performs more often.

Красивый рипсалис👍
Looking forward to hearing the progress on this. I hope it's a success with many babies
Thank you Grace. So far, at least they looks alright. Will try to update the progress soon :)
How long did it take for your Rhipsalis to grow so huge? That's a stunning plant.
Thank you, Sam. when I purchase it, it was about 1/3 in size. I think it took about 10month to be like that :)
Thank you so much!!!
You're most welcome :)
Спасибо узнала как укоренять😊❤❤❤
thank you :D
Would love an update on how big it is these days 🥰
Thank you Taylor..! I'll have a look and try to make update video or post soon 🙌🙌
If I keep trimming my rhipsalis, will it become thicker? And how often do you trim yours? I'm unsure about this, as I don't want a hundred individual plants, but I also don't like discarding pieces that could be used to propagate. My idea is to propagate several of them in the same pot, so that it grows more like a bush. But I don't know if the roots will eventually compete?
sorry to say this... but unfortunately, I cannot really answer clearly with the question just because I just trimmed whenever I feel like its grown too much '-'.... I believe if we keep trimming it may become a bit more thicker but based on my experience, I couldnt really find the massive differences.
About the propagating in the same pot to make it busher is (I may couldnt understand properly, sorry) I'm not 100% sure it will work well. the reason is because, when we propagate the cutting, it requires a bit more moist soil (environment) to help it to generate root but the grown (mature) rhipsalis plant may not happy when the soil is constantly moist as it is sort of succulent.
however, when I trimmed my rhipsalis, I saw the bottom nodes of the rhipasalis (older leaves) produce roots and if we slightly cover those root with soil, it will help to root. plus, it will produce new leaves from below the cut, I believe it will be busher eventually :)
nice video but hardly can hear ur voice...
Thank you for watching my video
Nowadays I only add subtitle on UA-cam, but later if I put narration on the video again, I'll try to increase the narration volume.
Thank you for your feedback :)
Greetings from Singapore . Nice video.. got this plant 🌱 in a small hanging basket . Am propagating as shown from your video. Thank you . ➡️kamsameda 🙂
Thank you for watching my video..! Hope it turns out very well 🙂🙂
What about its update?
Hey, i'm from Vietnam. Yesterday, i found one like this in my jungle. it grows on the roots of a coconut tree. But it looks thinner, has small yellow flowers on its stem, and there is no roots on the stem like yours. Are they the same species?
hello NDK, thank you for your question.
It is bit hard to say for me because I'm still learning about the plants, but based on my research on google, it says;
Rhipsalis plant is a tropical succulent which is native to the rainforests of Central and South America, Africa and a couple of islands in the Indian Ocean.
so, I don't think it is same plant, but maybe it could be..?😶
thanks
You're welcome :)
How long it might take for new growth to appear after propagation?
I'm not 100% sure, but for me, when I checked after month there were bit of new shoots in my memory
Can I propagate this in water?
Hello Seizedcarcass.
I've never done water propagation with this plant cutting, but I think it will do well in water as well...?
Can you post an update on this plz
Thank you Petrina. Will try to update the progress soon on UA-cam by... I guess next week Sat or week after Tuesday, but meanwhile ill update the progress image on Instagram tonight :)
😃
