    3:17-3:22 that sound going to the gears when he lets off the clutch and shift into another gear that sound is what it's about that sound is old school rock and roll right there

    These old C3 Corvettes powered by the legendary L88 were a real handful to drive. Notice how some of the European cars could out-brake him going into the turns & out-handle him there too. But that monster L88 was damn sure reeling em in on those long straightaways. Can you imagine if the C3 had more modern suspension/chassis & braking back in the day? They would've probably won most every race. Not to mention the fact that the Owens Corning Corvette team ( another L88 ) flat out stomped the competition from '68 thru '71 I believe.........winning 22 races STRAIGHT.

    Its ruff down low getting off the corners but goes like a freight train up top! Can you imagine driving this monster for twenty four hours. See the USA in your Chevrolet.

      you are wrong dude, yes, the base is a late 60s corvette, but the Spirit of Le Mans '76 was produced by Greenwood in, as the name says, for the 24h of 1976.

    id like to see a civic do this, this is how engines should sound.

      Obviously a Civic has a 4 cylinder engine, so it couldn't possibly produce a godlike sound like this.

      Tuppoo94 the only way is if a civic had a cross plane crank and cam

    This beautiful giant monster of power could reach 351 km/h when the Hunaudieres straight had still no chicane! Amazing speed if you consider that that Le Mans was won by a Porsche 936 Turbo which could touch barely 340 kph

  • @shaadydog1
    @shaadydog1 5 років тому

    Whats up with that stumble coming out of the chicane, actually seems to be a part throttle issue?

    • @howabouthetruth2157
      @howabouthetruth2157 4 роки тому +2

      That "stumble" you hear is due to feathering the throttle, so he doesn't spin out. That motor is such a beast, it performs & reacts the best when ya give it full throttle. When ya feather the throttle while negotiating turns or chicanes, it leaves a little bit of un-burned fuel in there, so the next time he stabs the throttle, ya get that brief "stumble". Kind of like "clearing your throat". Understand, this motor is tuned to run like a bat out of hell. You could set this motor up with different parts & tune it so it would NOT stumble during, or right after, feathering the throttle......but then you're not going to have the all-out performance & power at full throttle the way it is set up for this race. This is one of many reasons why a racing engine does NOT perform well at all for street use/everyday driving. Race engines from this era are rather crude when trying to "finesse the throttle".......but an absolute beast at full throttle. Hope ya find this response & hope it helps.
