I've lived here all my life, and I have to agree, I hate the people always speeding on the ice/snow and the tailgaters. They really pressure you, which can make driving here very stressful.
@@ChaseCharaba pressing the reset button so to speak. Wanted better opportunities for me and my family. They say you pay to live in paradise and that couldn't be more true. Stranger in a strange land kinda vibes. Also, I visited Ashford, WA for maybe a month or two, and wholeheartedly agree on Utah having hills. Rainier is awe inspiring, especially relatively close up. Good honest approach to your vlog here, I look forward to seeing more.
I like exploring places like Ogden and Salt Lake City, but there isn't as much to do in town as other cities in the western U.S. Most of the attractions are hiking or located outside of these main cities. I wouldn't really say that Utah is diverse, at least from what I've seen. People here seem more like one another than I'm used to.
I visited Utah and really enjoyed it. I was there in late May early June and was very nice temps! Winters are great for skiing and boarding and I have to say the people are very friendly. maybe I'll move there from commifornia.........
Also, I should say that the reason why people ask you how you like the snow, is because one of Utah's slogans is, "Greatest Snow on Earth". Of course we know that snow exists elsewhere, but people just want to know how you like it compared to other snow you have seen. I've never actually skied or snowboarded in my life despite living here, so I can't say first hand, but I hear that the powdery snow is good for such activities.

There is a watered-down version of the major brands available in stores. However, you can get higher strength beers and liquor at state-run liquor stores. Lots of people also travel to Idaho, Nevada, and Wyoming to purchase beverages and illegally bring them back over state lines
It might not be an obsession, but it seems any local drive-in or diner I've been to in Utah have these fake scones that are really just flatbread. I wonder if certain areas of Utah don't have them?
And the few liquor stores that are here are all state owned and operated with limited hours. Selection is limited too. Best to make the 50 minute drive to the Wyoming state line for discount liquor, real beer & lottery tickets 😆.
Being born and raised in Utah, you are definitely right about the driving in winter! 😂 one of my favorite things to do in winter on the outer roads or in empty parking lots is donuts/cookies. It's a lot of fun!
Just fyi, most of the bad driving is actually the adults, from what I have seen. Most teens/young adults have been bashed so hard by driver’s ed and such that the know the rules of the road like the back of their hand.
We really wanted to try something new. My mom is from Oregon, so she didn't want to move back there. We spent a lot of time there, and I love Oregon. I've always felt like I'll end up in the Portland area one day.
Oh yeah. Like I said, it was 90-95 degrees when I visited in July, and not much cooler when I first moved here. The winters are chilly, though! I'm looking forward to summer, but I'm also not. haha. What do you think of Utah and/or SLC?
@@ChaseCharaba I love SLC, it's very cozy in my opinion, and I might visit Utah again this summer. But I know in 2020 summer, I'm going to Utah to a wedding. But I love SLC, overall, I'd give it a solid 9/10.
@@ChaseCharaba noooo no don't wish for summer ! Lmfao it gets to 110 sometimes and hella dry even the wind is hot lmao I've been here my whole life I hate summer
It's not a bad place, but I don't want to be here forever. I overall recommend it as long as you are aware of the strong LDS influence. It is very quiet and there's so much to do if you like the outdoors. Everyone is super friendly (except when driving) and the area is growing pretty rapidly.
Michael Murdock I live in Houston, TX & I have family in Dallas.. both places are pretty similar. What are you looking for specifically when picking a spot to live in? Do you have family? I’m wanting to move too when I can, & Utah caught my eye..
Very cool! Well, Utah definitely has a lot of pros to it, now that I've lived here a little while longer than when I made the video. There's a ton of mass transit options, lots of places to hike or bike, so many state and national parks to visit, and if you live anywhere in the Salt Lake area you have mountain views. Do you have any questions about Utah? I haven't been to Texas yet.
Yes it is! Haha. Okay, I will concede that Utah has mountains. They do fit the definition and are they are beautiful in the winter. They just don’t have the prominence that many of Washington’s do.
I’ve been here for a couple of years and I feel like it rains allllllll spring long , esp this spring! And I also think it depends on where you live ! It’s so green here when I live esp in summer. It’s beautiful! But I agree with a lot of what you say especially the drivers omg!! They are horrible
Also A lot of Mormons are only nice until they find out you aren’t mormon and then they don’t want anything to do with you! Lol!! I’m glad your experience is different!
Being from Washington though, Utah's amount of rain is nothing. Washington doesn't have as many downpours, but it rains more frequently. I will say, the number of thunderstorms here is shocking! We didn't have that many in Washington. Things have definitely turned green with all of the rain, but I miss Washington and how it is green all year long. Utah is definitely growing on me though!
I think the alcohol thing is very interesting, I feel like I'd heard it before but kinda forgot about it. I don't drink a whole lot so it isn't THAT big of a deal to me, but still very strange not being able to by alcohol from grocery stores or gas stations like we can here in CA. I can't say for sure but, my guess would be that this is tied to the deep ties to Mormonism.
Yes Utah has bad drivers they drive like 20 more hours over limit on freeways. Years vary when in regard to weather. I have seen winters in Utah when it never snows. I have seen years when it never stops. I have seen snow in May and even he 4th of July. Early explorers called the Great salt lake, lake disappointment. Utah has mountains if you want to hills go to Missouri. Utah has freeways and wide as the width of a football field.
Hi, i've lived in utah my entire life. You are spot on with the drivers. i dont know why everyone is in such a hurry. I am not mormon. i feel like mormons are very nice people, but its a phony kind of nice. Some mormons are very genuine authentic people, but i say MOST mormons are very phony. It takes time to notice this in the people. As far as non-mormon people feeling like they dont belong-well that usually hits when you start to have children of your own and the other children are not allowed to play with your kids. I am curious to know how you feel about utah now?
I like Utah. I love being able to go hiking on the weekend without traveling far, and I still love that there just isn't traffic here compared to Washington. I still find most people to be very friendly and welcoming. I also really love the sense of community, especially in the Ogden area, with how everyone supports small businesses and there are all of these community organizations. The drivers are still terrible and impatient, and it amazes me just how many people disregard the laws. I've found myself driving WAY more defensively than ever before. So, overall I like it here. I just wish drought wasn't a thing.
I have lived in Utah most of my life. This place is a nightmare unless you are Mormon. I lived in Missouri for a few years and made tons of friends same thing when I lived in Florida, but Utah, at least where I live, unless your Mormon you are an outcast. Don't move here unless you are Mormon or you are moving to Salt lake where it's actually more liberal.
Having lived here more than a year now, I can see that. I’m lucky that some of my friends from Washington live here now and that the people I work with are awesome. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t know many people here.
YES!!!! with the tail gaiting!!!! There is ALWAYS someone right behind me!!! So over it , the inversion is disgusting I live 15 minutes from salt lake City so the air quality gets really bad where I live . Fry sauce is legit and I make it myself haha , don't be fooled by uthans being "nice" it's sometimes just a face and they talk shit behind your back. I grew up Mormon here and I'm not Mormon now , my Mormon family has an issue with it oh well lol . And yes the lake is gross as hell haha I hate Utah though and I'm trying to move out 23 years is enough for me lol
I can see why you'd want to move out, especially if you've been here that long. I guess for me it is just something different. Where would you want to move to?
@@ChaseCharaba me and my husband are currently trying to move to Florida ! More southern Florida though so we can avoid the horrible traffic from people visiting Orlando

As a life long resident of Utah I love watching these videos and seeing what new people think of this place lmao Btw Ogden isn't anywhere near as bad as other places as far as the Mormons go. This is the "bad part" of Utah 😝 And they're mountains 😐😐😐
That's what I've heard. Before I moved here, I posted on the Ogden subreddit, and people started attacking our decision to move here because of drug and homeless problems in town. I'm like, "Have you ever been to the Seattle-Tacoma area? This is nothing." I think Ogden has a nice vibe, and a lot of potential. THEY ARE HILLS. Okay, fine. They're just small mountains.
@@ChaseCharaba I'm not surprised by that tbh. Not only have I lived here my whole life but I went to the "worst" schools in this area. If you wanna hear some funny shit ask people what their opinion of Ogden high is 😂
But Ogden High looks so beautiful and historic! My high school in Washington was built in 2000, so it didn't look cool like that (although we did have a clock tower).
Jim Caponzi Intellectualism and religion don’t really go together in my experience. I don’t care how anyone lives their life as long as they don’t try to impose their ideology on me. Utah is the fastest growing state in the country and has the best educational system in the country. It seems like a great place to be.
It's not usually so bad. The days are in the high 30s or mid 40s lately. It's been raining this winter. We've only had one significant snowfall in the valley and it's almost March now.
I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and wouldn't ever live in Utah . It would be like dipping your salt in a French fry. Haha. 💛❤🧡💜💙💚

Have you noticed how passive aggressive people are
Brigham dude
Nice video and you brought up some great points about living here! great content - keep at it. I have been documenting what it is like to live in and around Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front area. Check out my channel if you are interested in learning more about the best and worst spots to live!
scone is pronounced sconn.
Depends on where you grew up, as with everything
Fry sauce in place of alcohol. Haha. 😀
I have never had a single scone in my life!
And my mormon cousin said I would go to hell for not going to church! smh
DONT YOU FUCKING DIS ON FRY SAUCE
As a life long resident of Utah I love watching these videos and seeing what new people think of this place lmao
Btw Ogden isn't anywhere near as bad as other places as far as the Mormons go. This is the "bad part" of Utah 😝
And they're mountains 😐😐😐
@@ChaseCharaba ikr, it's awesome! But yeah people have Opinions about it 🙄
Jim Caponzi Intellectualism and religion don’t really go together in my experience. I don’t care how anyone lives their life as long as they don’t try to impose their ideology on me. Utah is the fastest growing state in the country and has the best educational system in the country. It seems like a great place to be.
You look like you your gonna start crying any second
cool
Sounds too cold for me 😂😂
It's really not that bad! I'm already getting used to it (although my poor skin hates it).
It's not usually so bad. The days are in the high 30s or mid 40s lately. It's been raining this winter. We've only had one significant snowfall in the valley and it's almost March now.
Join the army or move
Huh?
hey your face doenst look real
I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and wouldn't ever live in Utah . It would be like dipping your salt in a French fry. Haha. 💛❤🧡💜💙💚
Why do you say it’s ridiculous it is to have so many churches everywhere? Hating on the church much?
all respect but this guy has some huge eyes
No, your dad probably drives 5mph so when they're going 40 it seems like 80 and you probably go 10 under in the left lane.
Lol, I always drive 2-3 above the speed limit
I love your nose!
huh? what???
good god go back to Washington
or youre just a awful driver
