The old blacksmith fall back... Need a tool, make a tool. By the way Mr. Nils, for being a hammer newb, that one is almost obsessively well made. Anyhow, thanks for taking us along on the trip ^.^ Enjoy the rest of your day... or evening... whatever the case may be :)
Really good looking hammer! It fits your aesthetics you have on the axes you make. I'm really impressed and of course really jealous Hope to see similar stuff in the future ☺️
Great lines on that hammer. I see you've learned your power hammer quite well. Nice work. A man can never have to many hammers, i also have multiple cross peens. Straight peens and Rounders
Love watching your videos, really appreciate how you explain things about your hammers, it is your choice on the weights after all you are the one swinging it. I think your axes are some of the best I have seen, some much style. Again love watching your videos and seeing the pictures of axes on Instagram. RLTW
i would like to do this myself as i'm not able to work but there's no good sholing around here maybe you have to give a people a trip to the nord and lessons.
Hey Nils, love your work and your video's! Have you thought about forging a Frankish throwing axe before? ( better known as a Francisca). Would love to see you make one! And keep up the awesome work! :D
How do you like having a "real power hammer"? I love my self contained power hammer. Huge upgrade from my shop made hammer. Your shop made hammer was made a bit better than mine though.
Nice job on the hammer, it looks really good. I see you’re using the new power hammer, does it meet your expectations? It certainly looks like a good unit. Enjoyed the video, regards from Down Under.
I was asking myself, does it had a specific reason you forged down the corners of your steel in a slightly octagonal shape right at the beginning of the video? Im a hobby smith and love to forge hammers so im curious if it brings an advantage to do that. Btw, super cool hammer design, looks awesome! Would say an axe smith makes a good hammer smith as well.
3 роки тому+1
Thanks, yeah it reduces the risk of cold shuts. And also works as a start of the end design that i had in mind, so i did it before punching the eye.
Heyy i came QUICK! This channel is absolutely amazing, and your work as well sir! Im starting to forge my own hammermaking tools, and my first hammer, alone and by hand. I would feel very honored and you would check it out! Cheers mate!
Absolutely beautiful my friend well done
Thank you very much!

videos där det är bara fokus på arbete, och inge musik eller massa prat, är dom bästa. :)

New to blacksmithing. What's the stuff you put in the eye as you're punching the hole for it?
Классный молоток! Удачи вам!!!

@ Thanks for the reply, will try this too for the next hammer i make ;)
1500g is a good weight 👍
I agree!
Pretty decent result for noob hammer maker ;)
Thanks :)
Cross-peen hammer? For me as a tinker/roofer/sheet-metal worker that means a schweif-hammer with two twisted peens in 90 degrees offset...
This is a blacksmithing channel. What you are describing we call diagonal peen hammer.
