Coach Bryant talked about "oneness." His great teams had it. Coach Saban's great teams had it. The question is does this team have the togetherness that is required. I like what I see so far.

I could be just flat out Insane for saying this. But I think this program needed a change, but only the fact that Saban was mostly old school when it came to his style of coaching. That being said, Saban did change alot of his philosophy and went more offensive than defensive. But Saban's tight grip on what the players and coaches of today likes and what is entertaining to these younger players. Just look at how DeBoer is allowing the music genres these players are in love with during practices. Little changes like that can have a big impact on players being more comfortable at practice, instead of being on pins and needles. Cause you can imagine, Saban probably made alot of newcomers feel alot of anxiety lol. Anyway, It's just an opinion. Will Bama win it all? Who knows, and it wouldn't surprise me at all. In fact, I believe Bama will be right there in the hunt come near the end of the season. I'm ready! Rooooooooooooolllllllll TIDE ROLL!!!

You guys are borderline pathetic talking about favoring Ohio State right now. They don’t have a proven, elite qb, they lost their best receiver and some key pieces on defense. We have the highest returning Heisman vote getter coming back at qb, studs on both lines of scrimmage and 2 beast running backs and Ryan Williams is on the way. Let’s be real, the expectations are still championship or bust.
You’re looking at it from a fan perspective. Ohio State has a quarterback that hasn’t played elite but he has been pretty good which is the same thing that we have. Ohio State also has studs on both lines of scrimmage. Ohio State has more proven returning wide receivers than we do and the number one wide receiver from this last class . Yes we have some projected very good running backs but Ohio State has two of the PROVEN not just PROJECTED best running backs in the country. They should be very good.

Expectation is natty but the Georgia and Ohio State rosters are superior to ours. We had roster advantage for about 15 years, and now we don’t. Rosters won us those titles. Now we have to win another way. Until we do, outside looking in.

I don’t expect us to lose three games, but I don’t see how you could call it outrageous considering we’ve lost two games for the last three years straight with an easier schedule than we will play this season.
I've been critical of Deboer as far as portal retention / recruiting especially DBs but he's an excellent offensive coach and Bama's still got a ton of talent so I would expect only 1-2 losses and at least a semifinal appearance and I think anything worse than that would clearly be a failure. That said, such a failure IS possible given all the changes and tough schedule and other random stuff that can happen. The term "floor" is ambiguous/subjective but I'd say the 95th percentile worse outcome is probably four losses missing the playoffs.

Heck I wasn't even critical of DeBoer in my post above I merely alluded to having previously been critical of his handling of the portal at the DB position and then I went on to state he was an excellent coach who I expect to make the semifinal at least. And that triggers a 2800+ character rebuttal. A bit sensitive are we?
For the sake of guys like you I sure hope the 5% scenario doesn't play out. God forbid it does occur good chance that losing Downs and Amos (both potentially preventable no matter what excuses DeBoer's apologists proffer) and not adequately mitigating those losses (e.g. landing Muhammad from Washington) will turn out to contribute a bunch of lost games.

8-4 would be a total embarrassment! IMO, this is the best roster CKD may ever have at Alabama. The longer season provides more opportunity for injury LUCK. What great teams have injuries that don't result in losses? What very good teams have key injuries that cost them losses and results in them not being in the playoff? The season with the playoff will really show what team has the best overall roster and coaching.
What do y’all think of the idea of a separate G5 football playoff tournament, using the campuses and lesser bowls, to play for a G5 national title?
