  • VICTORIA -- There are less than two weeks remaining before kids head back to school, and some families will struggle with extra expenses.
Thanks to 1-UP Single Parent Resource Centre, those kids won't have to worry about showing up to class on the first day empty handed. The support group will provide one-hundred and forty children from kindergarten to grade 12 with fully equipped backpacks.
From notebooks and pens, to expensive scientific calculators and backpacks, donations from individuals and businesses such as Monk Office Supply are making the initiative possible.
Each pack costs between fifty and one-hundred and fifty dollars to assemble, and items are still needed.
If you would like to make a cash donation or drop off items, 1-UP Single Parent Resource Centre located at 602 Gorge Rd. and all Monk Office Supply stores are accepting goods from now until September.
