@briankristensen349 because her bf is a lez? Sus for sure. Could be caught in a "I can be friends with them to show them the light" type thing, when it's really like a: they're the most fun party friend type thing.
This woman is a perfect example of why women are forbidden from holding church authority . They CONSTANTLY confuse niceness with virtue. No, you affirming your friends sin isnt nice. Lying to them and yourself about scripture isnt nice. I'm a wretched sinner who falls short every single day on this earth. Me lacking the grace and perfection of Jesus doesnt mean that I should abandon the pursuit of perfection. Nor does it mean I'm not allowed to inform others when they are engaging in sin. I don't go around telling everyone who falls short that they are falling short... because they already know they are. However the people who dont acknowledge theyre falling short or who deny their actions are sinful need to know that they are sinning. Why? Because you cant ask forgiveness for something you refuse to accept is wrong.
I'm just curious, if we know our sin is wrong and we continue to do it everyday, are we really acknowledging that it's wrong if we continue to do it? Doesnt the Bible call that a dog going back for its vomit or something?
@ninjawizard3865 Well no. Theses are several different ideas. The only man who has ever lived without sin is Jesus Christ. Perfection is not the standard God expects of us, otherwise he wouldn't have given us free will. There's a difference in someone who knows abortion is a sin, and yet makes an intentional choice to continue carrying out this sin without repentance. As there is a difference in someone who knows something is a sin, is repentant about that sin, fails to resist that sin. Just as there's a difference in someone who denies abortion is a sin and refuses to repent because they value their own subjective view of morality over the objective morality that is God. Or even worse, someone who convinces them the sin of abortion is actually a good thing and the people opposing child sacrifice are the sinners.
@ninjawizard3865 To simplify this. Someone who commits an awful sin out of ignorance is better than someone who intentionally commits a small sin with knowledge and forethought.
Genuine question: On the topic of morals and what the Bible says, if we are all following this standard, should we avoid cutting our own hair? Leviticus 19:27 - "You shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard". 1 Corinthians 11:6 - "If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off. But since it is shameful for a woman to cut off her hair or to shave her head, she should cover her head". As a Christian, I do think many Christians cherry pick verses from the Bible to justify their own judgements/policies. Please don't take this as a hate comment but it's important that we challenge these viewpoints when debating these topics.
Leviticus is old testament, and the way I understood it was we don't have to follow certain scriptures after Jesus died for our sins. The Corinthians scripture is interesting and I haven't seen that yet.
@@GreatGrace1123 Okay, thank you for your perspective. I have the same perspective that we don't have to follow scriptures like that but wasn't sure if I was alone thinking that way. It's just annoying how people condemn homosexuality when they ignore versus like cutting your hair off.
@@TrentonMabry1The purpose of Mosaic Law was to set God’s chosen nation of Israel apart, but humanity naturally falls short of such high standards. While Jesus did not come to abolish the Law, He came to fulfill it (Matt 5:17). This does not mean modern Christians should follow all of the rules line-by-line in their walk; this promotes legalism and causes one to be dependent on their own works. However, abiding in Christ captures the essence of the Law where accountability is still in place for those who trust in Him. This is merely my interpretation based on scripture, which I’m always willing to receive criticism over. God bless!
I agree with another commenter that the Leviticus passage is Old Testament, and we live now with a New Testament revelation. Old Testament passages like this need to be filtered through the New Testament - what Jesus and His apostles said and did regarding the Old Testament, or "law." For example, recall in Acts 10 that God gives Peter a vision that he should not call unclean anything or anyone that God has cleansed. He did this right before sending Peter to the household of a Roman Centurion, a Gentile, which according to old Testament Law, was an activity that would make Peter ceremonially unclean. In the same chapter, God baptized the centurion's household in the Holy Spirit, proving that the Old Testament revelation that Gentiles were unclean had been overwritten, for God could not accept them if they were still unclean. Dealing with/reconciling a passage like that one in Corinthians is best accomplished by what Paul said in Philippians 2:12-13: "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." The only way to truly and absolutely know what God expects from us is to "work out [our] own salvation." We do this by: 1) Studying His word, and asking for the Holy Spirit to reveal its truth: "For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words." 1 Cor 2:11-13 2) Asking God directly, in prayer, for Him to speak to us. Thank God that we can do this! 3) Consulting with seasoned Christians - though this CANNOT be our only approach, since we are responsible to God for our own faith, and humans can fail us; the one who gives you counsel may themselves be misguided in some way. Your direct exchange with God has to stamp approval on whether human counsel agrees with and comes from Him - or not.

Hello, I’m a 15 year old atheist and I’ll be picking at this video, not on a bad way. I just want to give my own perspective on the subjects of the video. :) 3:30 The issue I see with the logic of an atheist claiming that rape is okay or morally acceptable is that it oversimplifies the factors influencing moral behavior. It’s not just a matter of chemical reactions in the brain; an individual’s upbringing and personal experiences also play a significant role in shaping their moral framework. Social and cultural factors strongly influence the majority of people to view rape as immoral, including myself. Ignoring these societal and cultural influences leads to an overly reductive conclusion, such as, “Both people are simply experiencing chemical reactions, so neither can be deemed moral or immoral.” This perspective overlooks the broader context that shapes human morality. 4:00 The Bible explicitly states not to murder, yet it repeatedly depicts unnecessary violence and genocide, such as in 1 Samuel 15:3 and Joshua 6:21*. Moving on, I agree with the woman on the left to a degree: abortion should not be criminalized, especially in cases of rape, incest, or poverty. In such situations, the decision should rest with the mother. There must be exceptions and an increase in comprehensive sex education, particularly around safe sex. While I think same-sex education should exist, I’m hesitant to say it should mirror heterosexual education, as the topic is nuanced and complex. However, Hayden’s stance against same-sex education and gay marriage upsets me. Denying rights to a marginalized group is immoral, especially when it concerns intrinsic aspects of identity. 10:00 Hayden claims to love gay people while opposing their basic rights because of what a centuries-old book says-a book written during a time when rape, incest, and murder were normalized (and often justified by God). When Hayden discusses transgender individuals, he disregards that many experience gender dysphoria, a recognized psychological condition. While I oppose surgeries for minors, adults should make their own choices. Claiming to love a group while denying their rights isn’t love. Additionally, labeling the LGBT community as perverted is unjust and harmful. Equating homosexuality or transgenderism with abuse or violence is deeply offensive. It’s hard to accept the idea of absolute morality. Morality is subjective, and when it’s based solely on the Bible, many Christians offer a “love” that feels fake. I nearly ended my life trying to suppress my feelings and identity because of religion. Now, I live so much more freely and happily. I still very much need to improve but I’m definitely a lot better now, without religion. Sorry for my rant, I love talking about very nuanced and complex issues like these, don’t wish anything bad on you Hayden, again we both have our own opinions. :)
I didn't used to understand the "you can't have a good foundation for morals without God" argument either. I thought people were saying that people who don't believe in God can't have good morals, and that just is objectively, observably untrue. But I understand now that it's a deeper philosophical conversation about the fact that without God, objective morality doesn't exist, and that's a logically inconsistent view that nobody actually lives by. It's a more complex idea than it sounds on its surface, but once you dig deeper and understand it, it makes perfect sense.
You can't have objective morality even with God, it's an incoherent concept. Also, plenty of nihilists live without being moral realists, I'm one. I don't think morality exists, except as a language game. It's no problem to live with that assent to truth.
Simple, because outside of this context, morality is not absolute. This opens up many problems, which makes the law of the strongest the norm. Atheist morality is nothing more than inherited Christian morality. The difference is that Christians have a basis for this. Without some kind of moral foundation, everything becomes morally valid, including old practices that have been abolished; all you need to do is codify them again in the law.
To me, objective morality is a non-sensical concept because for it to truly exist, it would need to be inherent to existence itself like the laws of physics. Morals dictated by a god aren’t objective, but instead subjective, with only difference to our laws being that god enforces them rather than us. People also tend to confuse strong emotions for objective morals, when those can be shown to be purely personal and culturally influenced. Here we have the host claiming objective morals and thereby reinforcing his feelings on abortion and homosexuality, based on a very loose reading of a few sentences in the Bible. However, somehow I can have equally strong feelings opposing several of his views. How do we know who is right? Surely for his view to be right, he would need to be able to show God’s existence, not just assume it and claim moral superiority. And yes, everyone lives logically inconsistent lives guided by emotions which they then call morals. The only way to impose morals on others is to have either the power to do so via authoritarian rule or convince others of yours being worth following, or what you would call democracy.
@@Zanivox72 "how do we know who is right?" is exactly the question that makes moral relativism a terrible ideology... because the answer to that question, in a moral relativist reality, is that neither person is right. And neither person is wrong. If one person says it's good to abuse someone else, they're neither right nor wrong, and nobody really has any right to tell them they have to stop doing that. If God has not revealed truth to us, then we might not know who is right or wrong in every situation. But that doesn't mean that there is no right or wrong. If two people are taking a test and they disagree on the answer to a question, they don't know which of them is right or wrong. But the teacher knows, because there is an objective answer, and one of them IS wrong or right, or they could both be wrong.
@@Zanivox72 also, Hayden's views on homosexuality and abortion are not based on "a very loose reading of a few sentences in the Bible." It's not loose, and it's not a few sentences. It's the entire Biblical text, as a whole unit, that all confirms the message of the sanctity of human life and of marriage being designed by God to be between one man and one woman. Obviously Hayden can't read and dissect the entire Bible in one single conversation, so yes, we go to certain verses to explain our position to others. But to say it's a "loose reading" of a "few sentences" is just showing your ignorance of the Bible and what it says on these subjects. It's just a few sentences... it's the entire story, beginning to end, that consistently confirms these truths.
I’d also like to point out that handling issues like LGBTQ should look different depending on whether that person claims Christianity. Paul explains in 1 Corinthians that we are to judge those INSIDE the church. I think with outsiders we offer assistance with food, water, shelter, and any assistance that helps their well being as a human. If they ask for our beliefs or opinions(they will) we share. If they resist we can dust our sandals off.
She had the facts completely wrong in her example of the woman dying because of doctors not being able to remove the dead baby. Also her claim that there's not enough sex ed. so therefore abortion is necessary is completely bogus. No poor kids at the age of 13+ in this country don't understand how babies are made and how to prevent pregnancy.
The case she presented was slightly incorrect but not entirely uncommon in the US and other anti-abortion places in the world. Enough sex ed is a vague thing, the issue seems to be the pisspoor quality and lack of availability of safe sex products. Christian puritanianism removes the concept of sex from public view but it doesn’t remove teens being hormonal and doing stuff anyway, but way more unsafe than they could be with proper sex ed.
@mattmalcolm534 I'll have to recheck but women have died and are dying due to strict anti-abortion laws preventing abortion access even in cases like stillbirth. By common, well it happens in the thousands every year and is completely preventable.
@@Zanivox72 If it's a stillbirth, then it's not considered an abortion. Name a country on Earth that criminalizes removal of a deceased fetus from the womb?
@@mattmalcolm534 Did I say it was abortion? No. But the very strict laws in places like some states in the US and Poland will have medical staff refuse even stillbirth cases in fear of being prosecuted for providing abortion, and even if they agree to treat, they need to be absolutely sure and have evidence that it was a stillbirth, which takes time away from treating the women in risk of dying.
Great convo, God-glorifying and truthful, looking forward to more! For all who are joking about Hayden dating the young woman, you are presupposing that men and women are meant to romantically and maritally connect. Why do you believe that? Because God created us that way.
if god said that we should rape children would you think that's okay? and before you say "god would never say that, " that implies an impossibility, so give the logical contradiction in god saying that.
@@mikebrigandi_ It is a logical contradiction in the sense that it goes against God determining Himself as good, i.e what you are trying to describe would go against the definition of what God is. Now, this is not because he is necessarily *incapable* of doing so but it is a self imposed restriction. If you are asking whether it would be *possible* for God to rewrite the laws of logic and make it so that good is evil and evil is good then yes, it would be possible as everything is determined by Him. Would he do so? No.
@@willl676 I don’t think you understand what a logical contradiction is, it’s the negation and affirmation of the same proposition, p and not p. I don’t see how god calling for rape is logically invalid. Gods goodness can logically include rape or murder.

I really hope this young woman breaks free from this unbiblical mentality that telling people to repent of their sin is unloving and judgemental and mean. That's what Jesus did all the time, and it's what we are called to do as well. And if you tell your friend in a loving way that she's going against God by living an unrepentant homosexual lifestyle, and she retorts with "well, you're sleeping with your boyfriend and that's a sin too," or something to that effect, then your response shoud be to humble accept her correction and say "you're right, that is sinful of me and I should stop doing that. Thank you for pointing that out." This mentality this woman has is so common and so destructive. We have a global Church full of people who are unable to correct and unable to be corrected. There is no iron sharpening iron. There is no taking the plank out of your eye so you can see clearly to remove the speck in your brother's. Instead, people are just saying "well, they have a speck in their eye, but I have a plank in mine, so who am I to judge?" And then they carry on with their life, never taking the plank out so they can help their brother with his speck. It's deeply sadenning to me that I can't even talk to fellow Christians in my life about potential corrections that might be needed without even them thinking I'm being mean and evil and judgmental. It's crazy. As believers, we should be able to understand that loving correction is not hateful condemnation... I would expect that misunderstanding from non-believers, but we should know better. But sadly I have had many better conversations with atheists about correcting sin than I have with my own Christian family. I've had non-believers respond with grace and humility, while my own Christian family responds with anger and hostility. It's very, very sad.
Keep up the great work brother! You have helped me so much with how to talk about these topics with people.who disagree. I always had this info (also have learnt a lot from you) but could never find the right words when trying to explain to people these positions. God is great!
The guy refers to absolute morality that does not change over time. If that were to exist, could anyone give me an example of such a moral rule, that is true today and has been true throughout history? The guy names a moral rule: love thy neighbor. But if I read the Old Testament, it is very clear to me that the Israelites were not instructed to love their non-Israelian neighbors. In fact, on numerous occasions God even instructed the Israelites to kill them. God also allowed for the Israelites to keep non-Jewish slaves. So can we really say this moral rule is applied in the Bible?? The guy also states it is wrong to rape a woman. But again, if I read the bible, I see that God allowed for the Israelites to keep young girls of the people they concurred and to take them as wives (or to give the girl to their son as a wife). Since the girl does not get asked for permission, I do not see how we could not call that rape. So can we really say this moral rule is applied in the Bible??
Yeah the idea that God defines what is good is wild to me. Every diety in every religion changes its' views as the society changes. This is as an atheist who thinks objective morality actually exists. It just is what allows groups of entities to work together for their group's and their personal benefit.
Christians believe that God ultimately defines morality, he is the absolute. He defines the context and how its applied as well. God instructed modern Christians to act in the way we do today so thats why we do it.

I think you’d be more successful in changing hearts and minds if you slowed down a bit and made sure your opponents really understand your points. You tend to bombard them with logic and they can’t absorb it all, they just go to another talking points. Get them to acknowledge that life begins at conception. Get them to agree out loud. Then get them to acknowledge that killing innocent human life is always wrong. Make them say it out loud. If they disagree, make them explain why. Make them refute every point. You have the truth on your side.

Talking passed each other a little bit in the beginning. He is right in saying that without a God the idea of a morality is meaningless. She is basically saying one does not need to believe in God in order to act morally, which is true. But in either event God does have to exist in order for morals to exist
"If you tried to be more like God..." OK, so God destroyed almost *all* life on the planet. Decided to have a handful for friends, and animals... So would it be good to do that? But I'm not sure that I recall a *single* thing that *God* did, which would be "more moral" than what we currently engage in as secular humans.
Here's your biggest problem. Why do you get to assert that you are aware of an unchanging mind of the universe. It's an untestable claim, and so while it can never be proven false, it can never be proven true. To put it in a way that you would understand, you built your house on sand instead of the rock.
Great exchange, solid beliefs, and it's clear you love the Lord. Just a recommendation, avoid repeatedly saying, "Right?" after a point is made. This isn't meant as a slight, just pointing it out... i love your content.
If a child is already dead, they are’t developing. If they aren’t developing, they aren’t gestating. If they aren’t gestating, then there is no longer a pregnancy which is defined as the period of gestation that begins at implantation. If there is no longer a pregnancy, then the current definition of abortion as being the termination of a pregnancy is impossible. Do I have this correct that if a woman suffers a miscarriage that the removal of her deceased child wouldn’t even be considered an abortion? If I have that correct, then the supposed fear of doctors not removing dead tissue for fear of prosecution from abortion laws are at best ignorant and at worst liars putting the mother’s life in danger. Correct me if I am wrong.
Psalm 51:5 does not say David was sinful from from conception. It says - Behold I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. David is in no way saying he's sinful from birth or conception AKA total depravity. This is talking about the sin of his mother, not the stain of sin being transferred to a sinless infant. Total depravity is heretical.
I can appreciate you making such clear points. Here's the thing: I was raised to believe that following rules and laws are moral. And this was with only parent trying to take my siblings and I to church. Oh, and unless you have the money to brush crime under the rug, those consequences are no joke!
To be fair, if you are only moral due to the 'consequences' of being immoral, then you are not truly moral. While it's a good thing that you behave morally, if your reasoning is that you might get caught and suffer consequences, what is to stop you from behaving immorally if those consequences are removed.

This girl seems to have a good heart and is engaging in good faith. Hopefully she sees how much she's been indoctrinated by manipulative leftist lies. Im not even religious.
It has to do with civilization not religion. Rape is not bad or wrong among animals because or the early human . It just is . But once we chose demanded to elevate ourselves from animals instincts we had to think reasonably and logically and remove instincts and replaces them with logic. If we want a thriving society where everyone play a role we can't have murder or rape etc . We still absolutely murder but under a law or a justification . Look at the wars for mass murders .
1) "It just is" is not an explanation. I can tell you your argument is illogical because "it just is" and that would be equally fallacious. 2) Telling me that murder is wrong because we think reasonably and logically is begging the question. How do you know that it's logical and reasonable to be morally opposed to murder? You haven't actually provided a foundation for moral claims under atheism, just used circular reasoning. 3) Why should I want a thriving society, rather than just a thriving me-and-my-immediate-family?? If I can steal and murder to get what I want, and I can get away with it, why shouldn't I? Atheism can't answer this question.
0:16 "If you try to be more like God you'll definitely have better morals". This is such a perfect start to the video because the behaviour of God in the Bible is so beneath our standards of morality. Whether that's testing Job's faith by killing his children, killing all the firstborn kids in Egypt to get the Pharoah's attention or (and there's a pattern here) murdering all the children on the planet to prove a point to Noah. And this latter case is the most interesting for this video with so much talk about 'absolute morality' defined in this video as being the same always. Because what does God promise after he murders everyone (apart from Noah and his boys)? That he won't do it again. And we shouldn't be surprised how much God likes murder when he puts four commandments about himself above it. What do we feel today about inherited guilt? Should I be punished if my grandfather did a crime? What about my great great grandfather? What about by great x100 grandfather? Because God seems to think that all of humanity should be punished for Eve's sin; which let's remember, was eating from an irresistable tree that God put in a garden right next to the human he knew wouldn't be able to resist it. Some morality! How do we feel about slavery? OK to take slaves from cities we plunder? OK to own the children of slaves we own? OK to beat our slaves? God thinks all this is OK but fortunately we know better now. We can do better than being selfish, narcassistic, racist and murderous. The God of the Bible is all this and worse.

And I love that you describe the human race as God's 'enemy'. What a whingy, pathetic entity that is.
Homosexuality is not a fetish, it's not a perversion of what would've been. It's the unusual combination of two perfectly normal human traits in the same individual: being male (or female) and being attracted to males (or females). It's something a few of us discover about ourselves in the same way and at the same age that most of our peers discover their feelings about the opposite sex. It begins with a secret that evolves into the fear that our families will hate us for something we didn't want and cannot change. Until we finally tell them, we even have trouble believing our own parents when they say "I love you" because they so often said the opposite without knowing it. Nonetheless, homosexuality occurs in all kinds of families, however they're raised, whatever they're taught. It is precisely the same set of instincts that drives anyone else to seek a mate and pair bond. By some fluke, some sons inherit such a drive from our mothers rather than our fathers, to seek a mate in a man, to fall in love and to build a life with him; and some daughters, vice versa. Some of us were pushed through conversation therapy and still wake at night in a cold sweat, traumized by having been forced to think of women in such a way that is so deeply unnatural to us. The best I can describe it is like trying to make yourself want to commit incest. Does the bible account for that? Could it be referring to acts of desperation or cruelty or promiscuity? Might it be tainted by prejudices of the time, or in translation, just as so many now still don't understand what it actually means to be gay? Ask anyone on the street, what's the most important thing in their lives. Nine out of ten are bound to say "my family", and not just broadly, but referring to the family they built, their husband or wife and children. Straight people simply cannot fathom the cruelty in saying to us "for you to have that is sinful / should be a crime" or "the commitment you made to the person you love is meaningless" because they've never had to contemplate life's highest aspiration being forbidden - or worthy of eternal hellfire. There's also the element of hypocrisy: "I'm entitled to pursue my happiness with the sanction of my faith, family, and community, but you must not, due to something neither of us can control"; "we can look past most of the biblical purity laws, but this one, the one most likely to drive all purpose from your life, that's the one we're going use to push you further and further away until the only thing left for you is a short life of drugs, sex, and immediate gratification, then we'll blame you for the fallout, and call it 'love'." I'm sure Jesus would approve.... If you're sincere about Christian love and conservative values, your goals must align with keeping families and communities intact. On the matter of homosexuality, it starts with appreciating the fact that it is, however unusual, as real, meaningful, and hardwired as heterosexuality and, in the same way, about so much more than sex. You must therefore understand that rejecting and condemning it in someone you love is about as likely to make them straight as to change their gender. Where this strategy has proven highly effective, is in tearing families apart, destroying faith, creating rifts in the communities we all depend on, and sending those you're trying to help on a path of self-destruction.
I appreciate what you've written here as I agree that most often conservative Christians (and I am one) do not seem to truly grasp what it is to be gay. They reduce it to sexual urges and ignore the broad scope of meaning that intimate relationships bring to life. That being said, I'd encourage you to consider that there is a purpose greater and more fulfilling than one's relationship with one's partner, and that is one's relationship with God. Understanding His will for our lives, and submitting to that, regardless of how difficult it may be, will not send one in the direction of instant gratification, drugs and despair, but rather towards nobility and holiness. Maybe monasticism. There are other options. I recommend reading "God's Revelation to the Human Heart" by Father Seraphim Rose, a former homosexual man.
I hope you are doing better and can find a loving partner to share life with. It is terrible that people can be blinded by the mistaken ideas of the past.
@@thornarts2130but why don’t you say the same thing to straight people? Go tell straight men to forgo partnerships with women and follow a monastic lifestyle and let me know if even 5% of them agree to your proposition. Its an unjustifiable double standard. Gay people should be able to have an intimate life in the same way straight people can. Which means, yes, they would hage to be monogamous and not hedonistic in the same way straight people have to do that. You said you recognized that Christians do not understand that homosexuality is more than just sex but then you very cleverly reduced it to ‘drugs, addiction etc’. No, that is a logical fallacy. One can be homosexual and have an identical lifestyle to a heterosexual . You tried to paint gay relationships as inherently perverse or dis functional. So no, you don’t understand gay people .
What does the Bible really say about judging others? This is really the granddaddy of them all. “You ought not judge”. First of all logically what’s the problem with the claim? It’s a judgment! So the next time somebody says, “you oughta not judge”, put your hands on your hips and say, “then why are you judging me for judging? Because it’s a judgment.” The next time someone says, “Jesus said don’t judge!” First let’s assume the New Testament documents are reliable for a second. What did Jesus say about judging? He said, “Judge not lest you be judged by the same standard you judge others. You be judged by that standard. So before you try and take the speck out of your brothers eye, take a log out of your eye first then you’ll be better able to help your brother.” (Matthew 7:1-3) So is Jesus telling us not to judge there? No! He’s telling us TO JUDGE. He’s telling us to take the speck out of our brothers eye. That involves making a judgment. He’s simply saying get the log out of your own eye first, then you’ll be better able to help your brother. So this is NOT a command not to judge, it is a command on HOW to judge. In other words don’t judge HYPOCRITICALLY. I’ll say it again…One of the most misquoted verses in the Bible is Jesus saying, "Judge not!" (Matt. 7:1). But Jesus isn't telling us not to judge. He's telling us how to judge. First, take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. So, Jesus never says not to judge. He says don't judge hypocritically. If you’ve got that problem in your life, get it out of your life first and then go help your brother. Jesus also in John 7:24 says, “Stop judging by mere appearances and make a right judgment.” It’d be complete suicide to say don’t make judgments. Everybody makes judgments. Judgments between right and wrong, good and evil, safe choices from dangerous choices. You’d be dead already if you didn’t make judgments. Both Christians and atheists make judgments. The only question is, are your judgments true? However, Jesus did save a very stern review for people who were judgmental. There’s a difference right? Have you happened to think that you’re better than everybody else and you’re going to look down on everybody else? Who had this attitude in the New Testament? Jesus went after the Pharisees! The religious and political leaders of the day. They were political leaders of Israel and Jesus went after them. Does this mean Jesus got involved in politics? Yes! He went after the political leaders and what did he say to them? Well, if you think Jesus was some kind of sissy, you need to read Matthew chapter 23. Because in there Jesus comes up to the Pharisees and says, “you scribes, Pharisees, you hypocrites, You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness. For you travel across sea and land to make a single convert, and when he becomes a convert, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves. How do you avoid being condemned to Hell?” Yes, Jesus really said this. He wasn’t Barney the Dinosaur. He wasn’t saying, “can we all just get along boys and girls?” He was also not Mr. Rogers. Jesus was a drill Sargent sometimes. Sometimes yes he was very soft and sweet. He knew when to be. He also knew when he had to be tough. And in fact, that’s the definition of maturity. The appropriate behavior at the appropriate time. Jesus knew when he had to be soft and sweet and he knew when he had to be tough. In fact, some people need to have somebody else slap them upside their head. If you don’t do it you are enabling people. So Jesus knew when to do it. So I don’t buy this idea that Jesus was some sort of sissy who just let everybody do whatever they did. He was tough. Jesus was kind most of the time but he wasn’t a pushover. In fact, he even said, “I didn’t come to bring peace. I came to bring a sword. I’m going to divide mother and daughter, father and son.” Jesus is divisive because some people don’t want to follow him and some do. Jesus was killed because he was tough. In fact, he was killed because he claimed to be God. That was blasphemy to the Jews in sedition to the Romans. He was also killed because he spoke truth to power, particularly the temple authorities who knew that if Jesus succeeded they were out of work. In fact, Caiaphas the high priest who sentenced Jesus to die, knew Jesus was the messiah in my opinion. Why? Because right after Lazarus was risen from the dead and Caiaphas knew it, you know what he said, he said, “It’s better that one innocent man died than the whole nation perish.” He had evidence that Jesus was the messiah and he denied it. Why? Sex, money, and/or power. He wanted to keep his power. I always find it interesting that when you compliment somebody, which is a judgment, nobody gets upset. Like telling a good friend they are such a wonderful person. Do you think they will respond by saying, “well who are you to judge?!” Of course they won’t say this right? People don’t really have a problem with “judging”, they just have a problem with judgments they don’t like. If you tell somebody the truth and they get upset with you, then you just helped convict them! As Augustine once said, “We love the truth when it enlightens us, but we hate the truth when it convicts us.” Just like people in the military. They always get more flack when they’re over the target. If you’re telling somebody something that is true and they are shooting back at you, “you’re over the target!” They don’t want their evil deeds exposed! As Jesus said, “men love darkness rather than light.” Are the judgments you make true? That’s the question. If someone says “you ought not judge!” What do you say? I would say, “isn’t that a judgment?” “Why are you judging me for judging?” You CAN’T avoid making judgements. This is a good way to help being a lie detector. We have a built-in lie detector called the Law of Non Contradiction. A self defeating statement has no ground on which to stand.
14:04 Very sweet girl but this is why we largely need men as leaders (especially in the household and the church) because “we just don’t talk about it” is not live or leadership. She avoids the truth because it’s uncomfortable - just like leading often is. I, too, have very close friends with these tendencies (male and female) and when we talk religion and philosophy, etc I am open like Hayden - we shall not mince words when it comes to truth and applying it as love toward those we love. And btw, while they find it difficult to hear my points these friends are closer to me, and show me more respect and desire for leadership, than any of my other friends.
While it is important to examine our own heart and take the log out of our own eye before we help another, we are absolutely called to warn people the consequence of sin and expose evil. Jesus warned of hell more than anything. There is a reason Jesus said the path is narrow and few are on it. It's time for christians to get off the fence. We either serve Jesus or the world. We can not have both. Stay close to Jesus, and He will direct our path.

I’ve been watching them since you started since youtube recommended me since the beginning. But wouldn’t you agree that talking a little bit slower would help them digest your points better and improve the overall quality of the conversation? Anyways, I’m just trying to make a constructive observation. Keep it up
If a Christian thinks morality can exist but it may not be because of God then what do they mean by the word “God”? Theism, at least classical Christian theism, maintains that God is the source, being and foundation of all reality. Anything that exists or is real draws its existence and being from God. God is not a discrete member of reality, rather reality is in God. Ergo, how is anything not affected by God if Christian theism is true? It seems many Christian churches teach a fairytale concept of God wherein God is some sort of discrete being so it’s possible that aspects of reality are not affected by God.

Morality written on all our hearts 👍 (BY GOD) You don’t need to be a Christian to be moral. You don’t need the Bible to know right from wrong. There were no Bibles in Manoah’s day or the Canaanites day. Yet they knew right from wrong and they were judged by it. It was written on their hearts. An atheist can know right and wrong they just CAN’T JUSTIFY WHY something is right or wrong unless there is a standard beyond us and that’s Gods nature. People can be moral without God. They just can’t justify why something is good or bad. That’s the problem for them. We all live moral lives to a certain extent until we fall short. So it’s not an epistemological question, how you know right from wrong, it’s “why” you know something is right from wrong. You can develop your own morals if you want, but they are not objective if they don’t line up with Gods nature. For example: Sometimes people join other religions they see fit, like Buddhism, but they join it not because they actually believe it, but because Christianity or Jesus considered certain things immoral, so they didn’t like that so they become a Buddhist because they want spirituality without moral accountability. Some people want to just be spiritual while making up their own right and wrong. Because they want to do whatever they want to do. Obviously an atheist can be a “good” person (until we fall short, because we all fall short at some point in our lives), depending on what each persons definition of what good is, and that atheists can know how something is right from wrong. But it is not “how” but rather “why”. An atheist has a hard time justifying what rightness is if everything is reduced to human opinion. In other words, which humans get to “decide” what we do and force upon everyone else? It’s subjective then if it’s just in your mind and if there is no external referent to say “this is good or this is evil”. If this is the case, then we are all just here and we’re fending for ourselves. Now a lot of atheists will say, “well we need to cooperate to get along”. Actually....that’s not necessarily true. Why you might ask? If we go back to someone like Stalin, he “cooperated” with very few people, just his henchmen. And he killed about 20 million people to get what he wanted. And then he died on his deathbed at the age of 74, shaking his fist at God one last time. If atheism is true, then he never paid for his sins in this life or the afterlife. Meaning there is no justice. Unfortunately, this is what atheists hope for and prefer. So the problem it seems to me is an atheist and I can know right and wrong and maybe we don’t need God to know that. BUT…I just need there to “be a god” to justify it. And to put it another way, a lot of atheists say, “I know right from wrong without God”. Well to me that’s like saying, “I can know what a book says AND deny there’s an author.” Which is true. BUT...there would be no book to read unless there was an author. The same is true when it comes to morality. You can know what the right thing to do is and deny there is a God, but there would be no right thing to do unless there was a God.
Sure, but the only people bothered with being moral are the people who need to be “right” in the first place. I get what you are saying about objective morals being tied to God’s existence. However, morality not only doesn’t require that it be objective, it doesn’t even require being universally agreed upon. People can put up with a lot in terms of moral tolerance. The minute that what one persons does is completely intolerable to someone else or even a group, then conflict results. That’s just the brute reality of it. A truly morally confident person doesn’t need to be “right” and the other guy “wrong”. He just needs to have the courage to hold his own in open conflict or else use indirect means to acclimate his moral taste to society at large.
Something I've never understood is why would have god created homosexuals if homosexual acts are sinful? Many people are homosexual since birth, and not trought just "trying it" without romantic desire or any other lustful behaivour. It just doesn't make sense to create people who will have to struggle all of their lives and be unhappy by suppressing part of their nature that is supposedly sinful even if it is harmless and isn't lustful.
Homosexuality isn't harmless. It is lustful, sinful, and perverse. Homosexuality is leading a generation away from God, away from creating their own family, to pursue hedonism.
Christians don't believe God created people homosexual or that babies are born homosexual. We live in a fallen world where people will unfortunately have sinful habits that they feel are natural. If a Christian is suffering from homosexual attractions he's expected to place his faith in God above his desires. Becoming a monk would be opportune for him
Morals. You have taken what we can observe as morals and added just enough to make it require a god like entity. No need to add in "for all eternity that will never change". That is pure assumption and not something that anyone has observed about our morals. Long time doesn't mean for ever. What makes you believe that atheists have god's law written on their hearts, rather than a nature that has developed over millions of years? How would you tell the difference? I don't think it is that morality requires a god, but rather that you want the certainty of a morality that requires a god.
This woman was abundantely kind and genuine. However, she doesn't understand the Gospel. It is a prerequisite to the gospel to understand that we have sinned against God and this woman wouldn't tell her friend this because she doesn't want to harm the relationship. She doesn't really believe what she says she does about Jesus otherwise she would confront her friend and inform her that Jesus died to pay the penalty for her sins.
And there it is... even Christians can fall prey to letting their emotions skue what God says. It is either the Truth of God found in His word or how you feel things should be. If the later you should repent.
Subscribed. This is what Shapiro SHOULD have been saying. I really can't stand him now, he seems to give way too much leeway to those ideologically opposed to The Word. But this guy here says everything according to scripture and is also well versed in the secular law as well, which is important. One thing I learned early on (the hard way) when I used to debate with athiests decades ago was that in order to bring them over to your side you have to know what they know. And this guy gets it, putting Proverbs 7 and 1 to good use by knowing and understanding what your ideological opponent knows, so you can understand how to correct them in The Word, even using their own knowledge against them. I think the girl has good intentions but sadly she's the type who could be easily swayed by the world. Her Christianity ultimately boiled down to "don't rock the boat". For instance, how far would she let her friend devolve into that lifestyle before she would say anything? How much turmoil or trouble would her friend have to go through before she attempts to even bring up Christ? That's the problem with a lot of today's youth; they do not want to be disruptive (but then again, the zeitgeist has taught them not to be disruptive to alternative lifestyles elsewise they be labeled a mean name). In any case, hopefully the words of Hayden convicted her to maybe speak to her friend about her errs and hopefully -- in a loving tone -- help her course correct her life. If you look up the stats (and YT will not allow you to discuss them) those lifestyles do not have happy outcomes a large majority of the time (sadly, that's all I can say without it ending up in the shadow realm). But yeah, I'm glad Hayden corrected her about judging in love, as it's also repeated in Leviticus 19 and 17, as it's clear that judging with the intent to invoke repentance is necessary so as not to eventually or become persuaded to engage in your neighbour's sin.
Is it possible to be truly moral if your actions are only the product of following the instruction of another (God) or because of fear of punishment (judgement)? I would argue true morality can only exist absent God.
The good news is that Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of (eternal life) to all who trust Him *alone* for salvation. He paid for all the sins of all the world at the cross (past, present, and future). 💖 That payment is put to your account when you have believed on Christ alone for salvation 💝. *This means that saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.*

What was the purpose of those levitical laws?
Old Testament passages like this need to be filtered through the New Testament - what Jesus and His apostles said and did regarding the Old Testament, or "law."
For example, recall in Acts 10 that God gives Peter a vision that he should not call unclean anything or anyone that God has cleansed.
Dealing with/reconciling a passage like that one in Corinthians is best accomplished by what Paul said in Philippians 2:12-13:
"Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
The only way to truly and absolutely know what God expects from us is to "work out [our] own salvation." We do this by:
1) Studying His word, and asking for the Holy Spirit to reveal its truth:
"For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words." 1 Cor 2:11-13
2) Asking God directly, in prayer, for Him to speak to us.

Same-sex unions are not marriage. Calling something marriage doesn’t make it marriage. Marriage has always been the covenant between a man and a woman. That’s how children come into the world. That’s how families are formed. A homosexual activist will say a man and woman has nothing to do with it. They hate our definition of marriage. Same-sex unions are not marriages, because they deny the self evident distinction between male and female and between mother and father. homophobics follow demonic love
Hello, I’m a 15 year old atheist and I’ll be picking at this video, not on a bad way. I just want to give my own perspective on the subjects of the video. :)
3:30
The issue I see with the logic of an atheist claiming that rape is okay or morally acceptable is that it oversimplifies the factors influencing moral behavior.
4:00
The Bible explicitly states not to murder, yet it repeatedly depicts unnecessary violence and genocide, such as in 1 Samuel 15:3 and Joshua 6:21*.
10:00
Hayden claims to love gay people while opposing their basic rights because of what a centuries-old book says-a book written during a time when rape, incest, and murder were normalized (and often justified by God).

and he hates homophobia
You nailed it brother, great work. She could learn a lot by rewatching this and giving it some deep thought.
@@Zanivox72 it was not "slightly incorrect," not is it "common in the US and other anti-abortion places" in the world.

The logical contradiction is in asking for a definition to contradict itself. God is perfect good, perfect good cannot do evil.
@ that’s not what a logical contradiction is. The problem remains that the “god” could logically command rape. That may be a good thing to it
@@mikebrigandi_ It is a logical contradiction in the sense that it goes against God determining Himself as good, i.e what you are trying to describe would go against the definition of what God is. No.
Biblical God would not say that because his nature is loving, kind, just and merciful. The moral commands he gives us is based on his nature.
@@willl676 I don’t think you understand what a logical contradiction is, it’s the negation and affirmation of the same proposition, p and not p. I don’t see how god calling for rape is logically invalid. Gods goodness can logically include rape or murder.

shame homophobics hate Gods word
I really hope this young woman breaks free from this unbiblical mentality that telling people to repent of their sin is unloving and judgemental and mean.
That's what Jesus did all the time, and it's what we are called to do as well. And if you tell your friend in a loving way that she's going against God by living an unrepentant homosexual lifestyle, and she retorts with "well, you're sleeping with your boyfriend and that's a sin too," or something to that effect, then your response shoud be to humble accept her correction and say "you're right, that is sinful of me and I should stop doing that. Thank you for pointing that out."
This mentality this woman has is so common and so destructive.
I hope he breaks free from satan
I’d be interested in knowing Hayden’s take on this doctrine, that God is subject to eternal laws, just like we are.

This is as an atheist who thinks objective morality actually exists. It just is what allows groups of entities to work together for their group's and their personal benefit.

It's a logical conclusion that there exists and unchanging mind (God) or else objective morality doesn't exist.
Great exchange, solid beliefs, and it's clear you love the Lord. Just a recommendation, avoid repeatedly saying, "Right?" after a point is made. For many debaters and political commentators it becomes an incessant filler word that is distracting, and when done over and over again, gets annoying. I don't know if you know you do this. This isn't meant as a slight, just pointing it out... i love your content.
"Who am I to judge?" Apparently, you're not a Christian. The openness to abortion already made that apparent.
one of the best conversations

To be fair, if you are only moral due to the 'consequences' of being immoral, then you are not truly moral. While it's a good thing that you behave morally, if your reasoning is that you might get caught and suffer consequences, what is to stop you from behaving immorally if those consequences are removed.

Im not even religious.
The Bible doesn’t really have the word “Slave” in it…? Right!!

Now, if you want to make a point about God's consistency being off then fine but dont pretend as if anyone is confused about 'what being like God' means for humans today in 2024
@@IconoclastX So when they say "be like God" they mean "be like Jesus"? Then SAY "be like Jesus" then. Why the abstraction. Even Jesus didn't say he was God, unless you believe the crack-smoking John which was written so far after Jesus' death it was clearly a desperate attempt to elevate his position.
There's also the element of hypocrisy: "I'm entitled to pursue my happiness with the sanction of my faith, family, and community, but you must not, due to something neither of us can control"; "we can look past most of the biblical purity laws, but this one, the one most likely to drive all purpose from your life, that's the one we're going use to push you further and further away until the only thing left for you is a short life of drugs, sex, and immediate gratification, then we'll blame you for the fallout, and call it 'love'."
I'm sure Jesus would approve....

It is terrible that people can be blinded by the mistaken ideas of the past.
You said it best. Hope you’re doing well and that you manage to find a loving partner :)
Because it’s a judgment.”
The next time someone says, “Jesus said don’t judge!” First let’s assume the New Testament documents are reliable for a second. What did Jesus say about judging? He said, “Judge not lest you be judged by the same standard you judge others. You be judged by that standard. So before you try and take the speck out of your brothers eye, take a log out of your eye first then you’ll be better able to help your brother.” (Matthew 7:1-3)
So is Jesus telling us not to judge there?
How do you avoid being condemned to Hell?”
Yes, Jesus really said this.
As Augustine once said, “We love the truth when it enlightens us, but we hate the truth when it convicts us.”
Just like people in the military.
And btw, while they find it difficult to hear my points these friends are closer to me, and show me more respect and desire for leadership, than any of my other friends.
no we need less men who lie in Gods name and more women who ae honest
While it is important to examine our own heart and take the log out of our own eye before we help another, we are absolutely called to warn people the consequence of sin and expose evil. Jesus warned of hell more than anything. There is a reason Jesus said the path is narrow and few are on it. It's time for christians to get off the fence. We either serve Jesus or the world. We can not have both. Stay close to Jesus, and He will direct our path.

It seems many Christian churches teach a fairytale concept of God wherein God is some sort of discrete being so it’s possible that aspects of reality are not affected by God.
just asserting that objective or "absolute" morality exists doesn't make it true.

Morality written on all our hearts 👍 (BY GOD)
You don’t need to be a Christian to be moral.
Well to me that’s like saying, “I can know what a book says AND deny there’s an author.”
Which is true.
I don't think you can separate lustful from procreation without harm
Homosexuality isn't harmless. It is lustful, sinful, and perverse. Homosexuality is leading a generation away from God, away from creating their own family, to pursue hedonism.
@@bruno9764 So you'd call it "harmful" or sinful every time heterosexuals have sex for pleasure
Christians don't believe God created people homosexual or that babies are born homosexual. We live in a fallen world where people will unfortunately have sinful habits that they feel are natural. If a Christian is suffering from homosexual attractions he's expected to place his faith in God above his desires. Becoming a monk would be opportune for him
@@jimmymags6516 If they separate being open to life I think it can have some sort of damage
I find her sweet, but why do people assume Hayden finds her attractive? Let the man live haha
Shame on her father for not teaching her the most basic Christian truths
shame on him for telling lies in Gods name
And there it is... even Christians can fall prey to letting their emotions skue what God says. It is either the Truth of God found in His word or how you feel things should be. If the later you should repent.
homophobics hate Gods word
