    Becky you have blown this video out of the water for me. I have learned so much on this video than many others I have watched. You are truly a “crack up” with your explanations and keeping us up on lots of tips. ❤️❤️❤️
    You’re a joy to watch. Always looking forward to your new videos. 😊

    Becky I have been quilting for years and no one has ever taught me why and how to snowball the corners properly. Thank you for visually showing us the technique and the why behind it!!!! Game changer. I am a visual learner and UA-cam has been wonderful but some are good teachers and some are not. You are a great teacher! Keep teaching us tips and tricks. I never miss an episode of your UA-cam because I always learn something.

      Thank you! It's really blending the skills of garment sewing and quilting. I'd of never known it either if I hadn't taken sewing classes on making shirts with collars. :)

    The tip about using the cut edge vs. the bias is quilt-life changing for me. I’ve always tried to force-pin the two pieces together and have been frustrated umpteen times because my blocks are wonky and/or the wrong size. Now I know why. Also not familiar with how to approach “easing in” so I look forward to the next video. Thank you.

    You made me smile when you said "this is fixing to go under the needle." I lived in Texas for 7 years when I was in my 20s. I loved the expression "fixing to" that I had never heard before growing up in Minnesota.

    Becky, I have been watching your videos for quite a while now. This one has been one of the best ones you have done. Such great teaching in this one! You explain the reasons behind what you are doing so well. And you do it in such a way that we don’t feel stupid for not knowing this! Thank you so much!

    Good morning Becky wow love the tips on marking from corner to corner I always make sure my mark is corner to corner. It was never explained that way .

    Yes, allowing for the 2 threads width on the diagonal mark when snowballing is so very important and it should be taught in quilt classes. That technique makes a world of difference when coming to match snowball blocks, especially to each other. This is exactly how I make my hearts, right down to the pressing in opposite directions. Thanks, Becky!

    I love the tips for the sew and flip. Everyone talks about the scant 1/4 in. So many times I had to redo as the corners don't match. Thank you for the tip with the ruler. That sure will help.

    By making the mark on the end you are cutting off and putting that in the corner, it also makes it impossible to lay the square on the rectangle incorrectly. I’ve sewn those snowballs on wrong lots of times. Great tips.

    Should I be using SF 101 on all ITH embroidery projects? Thank you for your videos. I do learn a lot

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  2 роки тому +1

      Not necessarily. I really only recommend it on designs that have a heavy satin stitch like the outline of these letters. The pull compensation is so strong on satin stitching that puckers can happen very easily. If I were doing a blanket stitch, I wouldn't need it.

    Becky, when you have a fusible stabilizer ( SF 101) and then a tear away stabilizer on your embroidered block do you remove both of them before you join the block to other blocks in a row?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  2 роки тому +1

      No, I don't use tear away, I use a no-show poly mesh so it doesn't change the hand of the topper. I do cut away the excess mesh stabilizer but I leave the SF101 on the triangle.

    Do you know of a good fabric marker or something that works well on dark/black fabrics?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  2 роки тому

      I usually just use a chalk marker. Regular white chalk is always sure to come off with a damp sponge and it will never ghost like the chemicals in making pens. I like the one in my Amazon store since it has different colors and I can land it exactly where I want and use it on an edge of a fabric if I have it folded in half to find center. amazon.com/shop/powertoolswiththread See Embroidery Favorites

      Bohin or Fons & Porter chalk pencils, or Panda pencil (wax based, irons off). Or, save the ends of a Dove soap bar. The chalk mechanical pencils give a crisp fine line. The panda pencil or dove works better for quilting top designs.
