I got the same guitar last year. I put diaddario titanium pins in though. Also bought a bone saddle and nut. Need to put them on yet.
I used to stretch the strings very similarly to how you do. In the past few years, I tune each new string a half-step high. When all the new strings are on and tuned a half-step high, then I strum it for a minute or two. Then I retune it to standard tuning. Works great for me.

I use D'Addario strings on my electrics, and I still haven't worn out my Martin coated strings they gave me years ago.
Been using D'Addario strings and other stuff for use. Every once in a while I cheat a bit and try something else, but I always end up back with D'Addario. Thankfully, even the non-coated D'Addario acoustic strings last a long time, because acoustic string changes are not my favorite thing. :D
I've been using D'Addario strings for 40+ years. I guess I can bend anything and comfort never factored into my playing.....
Pick it up by the strings and treat it like a yo yo
