    A guided tour of The Palace of the Parliament, also known as The People's Palace. Although the tour only covers about 5% of the building, we see some of the grand architecture and design. Ceausescu's demands for opulence meant everything had to be built on a grand scale, not matter what the cost.... and this building is no exception. This is the second biggest administrative building in the world (after The Pentagon) and is also the heaviest. It's also the most expensive in Europe.

    I think it's an amazing building.
    Crazy history. But now it's here. Why not enjoy it? Its the peoples building.
    No king, prince or count would ever build such a building for anybody else but themselves. This building belongs to the people of Romania. wow. And it was built by the Romanian people. With nothing but Romanian materials. I think it is amazing!

    • @isg4
      @isg4 11 місяців тому +1

      No, it wasn't built for the people.
      It was NEVER built for the people.
      It's a megalomaniac project meant to satisfy an illiterate dictator and remains as a scar on the souls of the people.
      A remnant of communism that demolished thousands of historical and cultural buildings of the capital.

    This building is sublimely beautiful in it's art - but horrendously obscene at the same time in it's history and it's sheer extravagance. A lot of suffering was caused by this building, and more people died here during its construction than died in the Tower of London. No true socialist would ever build such a place. It's more suited to a modern Caligula.
    At least its latest history is more positive, and it is now making money for the long-suffering citizens of Romania.

      Well said, Simon! I toured it 2 years ago and found it awesome in its majestic vulgarity, the obscenity of its overblown grandiosity. The materials and fabrications are impressive to a fault, but the whole edifice has a numbing coldness that is demeaning. It is nonetheless a must-see, and Romania is a jewel with endless delights.I pray for the well-being of this wonderful country, now that Nicky and Ellie are just atrocious memories.

    ,Über Geschmack lässt es sich bekanntlich streiten.Wenn man bedenkt,dass fuer diesen Protzbau Haueser und Kirchen weichen musste und man die noch brauchbaren Materialien wie Steine dafür verwendet hatte und das Rumänien ein relativ kleines und nicht gerade reiches,aber landschaftlich schoenes Land ist,so war es trotzdem eine Leistung so etwas zu errichten.Es war sogar einmal die Rede,man wolle dieses Gebäude weil sein Unterhalt Unmengen an Geld verschlingt ,wieder abreissen.Man sieht an dem Gebäude weiters,dass Größenwahn solche Dimensionen entstehen lässt.

    This was well filmed and one of the best i've seen on this building. The tour guide certainly knows her stuff and presents very well....her English is excellent. Thank God Trump didn't get his hands on it otherwise there would be a massive "TRUMP" sign on the roof top by now and he'd paint the outside gold. It will always be associated with Ceausescu and after the Revolution it's easy to understand why many wanted rid of the place.

    LOVE ROMANIA/DACIA! love&respect the WORK&SACRIFICES of Romanian people; but dislike the manner this girl treats this National Heritage, with arrogance&disrespect for the sacrifices of the Romanians, giving credit to foreigners for everything, as if they were "Gods" of the "modern times" (well they are just flesh&bones and will be eaten by the same worms after they die). Romanian People's House will Never belong to other nations or individuals! It belongs to ALL the Romanians, who sacrificed&worked for their country! NEVER to any other nation or to foolish international mobsters! NEVER American, NEVER German, NEVER for the mobsters and international thieves such as Donald Trump or others, who NEVER worked or knew what WORK meant, during their entire lives!

    • @iamnotevenanumber3312

      Yeah. But why do Romanian politicians suggest to make a shoppingcenter and entertainment venue in the building? Do they not have any respect for their own country?

    You can say wherever you want about the old dictators like Ceausescu, Lenin and so on but if they had one thing in common, then they were all patriots. Look at how Ceausescu supported Romanian industry and almost 100% of all building materials was sourced from Romanian companies/Industries. Compare that to current day African and Arab dictators. Boy do they love foreign made cars, watches, building materials! They don't give a hoot about supporting local industries nor do they care about improving the infrastructure in their country. Ceausescu might be dead but what he left behind for his country! By the way am in no way supporting dictatorship but just wanted to mention that there are truly patriotic dictators and then there are just assholes with no brains calling themselves dictators.

    • @EnvyBlu
      @EnvyBlu 4 роки тому +4

      How can you call him a patriot when he killed his own people to make this building? The tour guide said the churches had to essentially turn into factories to make items for the castle, otherwise their churches would be shut down if they didn’t produce something. He was despicable, and so are all other dictators. They don’t deserve the label of being patriots.

    • @EnvyBlu
      @EnvyBlu 4 роки тому +3

      He didn’t use Romanian materials because he was a patriot. He used Romanian materials so he could build this, by forcing Romanians to give him the materials he needed. And he’d kill people for non-compliance. It definitely wasn’t a show of patriotism

    de ce sunt aratate publicului doar vreo 4 sau 5 incaperi din totalul de zeci ???De ce nu sunt folosite multe din aceste incaperi foarte mari?S-ar putea face un teatru permanent in amfiteatrul acela frumos dar si in celelalte incaperi ar putea gazdui multe evenimente culturale si artistice permanente nu doar ocazionale.E pacat ca este folosita pentru parlament o cladire cu incaperi atat de frumoase care in loc sa aduca bani se cheltuiesc multi bani.
