We miss DF
Thank you for showing Sukhumvit Soi 5. It's changed a bit from when I first came to Bangkok in 2006. We stayed at The Boulevard Hotel many times over the years. Clean rooms, Great Staff, and they've ALWAYS been VERY friendly and took wonderful care of us. Not too expensive.
My favorite little restaurant for breakfast and vegetable fried rice is in the FoodLand Grocery Store. Took Lae Dee it's called. It's changed a bit in the set up of the restaurant over the years, but still the same Manager, and he's always a dear.
We were there this year in late February/early March, and stayed at The Boulevard.
Grabbed a bite at Gulliver's one night, it wasn't too bad.
We were just there again for 1 night before going to Phuket for a few days. It was a quick trip to Thailand for a not long enough holiday.
Thailand is my favorite country. Bangkok is the most amazing city!
I'm sure when I retire in the next 10 years (if I survive...lol) I'll be spending as much time there as I can.
We didn't make it to Pattaya this time, but I love it there as well.
There are many wonderful hotels there on Beach Road, but my favorite AND it IS expensive is the Amari Orchid. Further down towards the end of Walking Street is the Siam Bayshore. Reasonably priced, and Wonderful Staff. Very clean rooms, and a huge breakfast buffet that is soo good.

Shocking changes. That Lebanese place on the corner was a Thai restaurant for at least 35 years, and the stuff next to it is where 'The Tunnel' used to be, leading to Soi 7.
The little alley that had all the shoe shops and incense sellers also makes a jog to the left, and ends up on Soi 3/1 - a quick getaway, a la James Bond, when required.
Buathip Massage used to be on the corner of that first sub-Soi on the right, which had several Japanese-only clubs in it.
Glad to see Foodland is still there; Took lae Dee (Cheap and Good), still serving up eclectic dishes 24 hrs.
Those wondering where the girls are only need to go back to Sukhumvit, and check out the sidewalk between Soi 5 and Soi 3/1. Be sure to wrap that rascal...
There used to be a wooden ramp on the corner of Soi 3/1, to help get you over the water that always ran down that Soi. It was always wet and slippery, and guess who fell on his ass there in the mid-'90s. I'll never tell...
I MISS the Tunnel Bar! It was the first bar I went to as soon as I got into Bangkok and got to our Hotel. The Amari Boulevard is what it was called back when i started coming to Bangkok. Now it's just The Boulevard.
The Tunnel Bar was soo convenient. Just walk out of the hotel and turn left and you're there.
This change saddened me deeply. 😭
I'm all for change, but when you get attached to places, you hate to see them go.
Sir how expensive is services and Accommodations in Bangkok today the Thai baht is very strong versus the American dollar the Australian dollar and the British pound.regards best safe travels and adventure

Back in the Day, Gulivers was the place to go. You could use the computers instead of going to an internet cafe. They have lots of pool tables and a hotel connected...
Those seeds are expensive. A small envelope here in the Midwest, Iowa can be purchased for .59 cents
No shit...well manure is a better word for this occassion...and not only that, it's not jack and the bean stock...seeds need to tended to and nurtured and depend on so many factors, soil, sunlight, too much sunlight, water, too much water, etc....bottom line...way too expensive.
I’ve stayed at the belaire twice now. First stay was a great hotel, good location, rooms and pool. Second visit they failed to mention the pool was closed (for a month) and they were renovating rooms below, sounded like a building site from 7am - 7pm with jackhammers going none stop which spoiled my last three nights in Bangkok completely

I stayed at the Belaire many times. Big rooms about $50 a night Just 5 minutes to Nana Plaza and the BTS.
Also, it gets a lot of middle eastern customers, and the pool is usually quiet.
The bathrooms could do with a facelift, but the location is excellent.
There is no joiner fee if you are bringing a friend back.

The wood is the raw component of many Oriental-Arabic types of perfumes. Very expensive if it's the real stuff.

Hi DF. I enjoy your vids, but Bangkok, or at least this bit, does not look very "happening" to me. In fact, it looks over-developed and over-priced. Those hotels could be London or Sydney and i bet they're far from full. Nobody around and lots of very quiet shops. Looks like the pips are squeaking there.
Bangkok, is crazy happening. So big, and so many different areas to go to. You can get street food for $2 usd not far from where this video was taken.
You say the economy is great, but factories are being shut down everyday and people are protesting....just cause you dont see it doesnt mean it isnt happening.
You failed to tell the Aussies you will be not be able to bring those seeds back.
Been to Gullivers a ton of times, always had a good time, but all in all I always kind got a bad Vibe on Soi 5, no real reason for it, just a little on the stodgy Arab side. Maybe I just had enough of the Mideast after all the time I have spent in Israel.

@@vincentvdl Yup, they sell them in the pharmacy, I don't think they're the real Sidegra but they do the trick. They also sell Kamagra pills and gel, the gel worked for me but the pills didn't.
