this was hands down one of the most breathtaking approaches I've ever seen. I'm also amazed that the sun is still visible at 11PM in Finland during summer. awesome!

The further north you go, the lighter it gets. My hometown on the Arctic Circle is actually the southernmost place in Finland where the sun officially stays above the horizon for a full 24 hours :)

What a lovely sunset landing with a very good looking winglet! *cough sharklet, sorry
Never crossed my mind that the crew at Finnair had to speak Swedish as well. That means that Finnair is better at communicating with Scandinavian travellers than SAS Ireland, where the crew didn't speak a word of any Scandinavian language.

Hehe, thanks very much! I think not every Swedes know this but the Swedish language still has an official status in Finland. About 5% speak it as a first language and the rest learn the basics at school. That’s why the announcements among many other things are also in Swedish.

Actually I was in Helsinki/Helsingfors this April for the first time (although I got there by sea instead of air ;)). Saw Swedish a bit here and there, especially on signs for important/public things and some ads. I could barely use it to speak with anyone though which was sort of surprising since it still was so common to read. I've heard it's more common in Vaasa and in the areas around Turku/Åbo (minus the city itself) though.

Yeah there are lots of regional differences but generally most Finns don’t speak Swedish fluently since very few use it in their everyday life after they learn it in high school/university.
Unfortunately, the same goes for me although I consider my Swedish skills above average thanks to my relatives in Sweden and better motivation to learn it 😆

Sorenle Actually Finnair has changed their language requirements for the newly hired cabin crew, no more Swedish required, not even Finnish. In reality most flights have Swedish speaking cabin crew members though. I wish I could speak better Swedish myself, I have a couple of 'Finlandssvensk' colleagues at work in Helsinki but they speak impeccable Finnish too, typically so. RVNspotting, what a gorgeous sunset, thanks!
